Ducks Must Start Ty Thompson in Bowl Game or Forfeit
Darren Perkins replied to Darren Perkins's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I take it you think the Ducks should stick with Brown? I see an apples to oranges comparison. This year we have talented "the future of the program" backups, in 2015 there was nobody behind Vernon. Vernon always played well in 2015, Brown not so much this year, to where people have calling for Thompson. May as well get started on the future in a meaningless bowl game and have a qb get some snaps in before facing Geogia next year. -
Could there ever be a less motivated team in a bowl game than these Ducks? Lost playoff dreams, then lost rose bowl dreams, KT will sit out and probably others. Oh, and we could be playing with an interim coach. The Ducks will look way worse than the 2017 Las Vegas Bowl. (And remember, as of right now, due to the MC uncertainty, the Alamo is no lock. Bowls hate interim coaches.) The ONLY thing that will garner interest from the Oregon side is a new QB. Plus, it only makes frickin sense.

N'Faly Donte Starting Tonight!
Darren Perkins replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yeah, it is interesting, we have all of the 4-5* 7-footers but none of them are/were instant impact players like the Zags Chet Holmgren. So,it well be interesting to see how this team gels together as the season progresses and who begins to shine. Then, bring in possibly a lottery pick point guard next season, teamed up with these more experienced players next year, and buckle your seat belts. But, first things first, still plenty of hope for this season. -

Ah yes, gotta luv the tunes. Of note, and i didn't know this for the longest time, maybe some do. But, the lead singer of the band Survivor who sang "eye of the tiger" developed vocal issues shortly afterwards and was replaced. So, the lead singer for the Rocky 4 songs ( and other mid 80s hits) is a different guy. I had no idea back then! -

10 Takes on “The Assault in Salt Lake”
Darren Perkins replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I would refer to Charles' article yesterday about how the Ohio State game set the tone for the season for Brown. The Ducks did beat possibly the best team in the country in their place, so you know what the top-end for the Ducks is, and it would be understandable that MC wants to continue to try to capture that magic. -

Yeah, I don't see us gettig swamped 38-7 again, it was just one of those nights, but if the Ducks can pull it off it would be a nail-biter. -

We don't need Thompson needing to learn a new system, enough of that. -

That's a good strategy. -
It is almost mind boggling at times to think how well they played at Ohio State after seeing how crummy they have also played this year. It does make it exciting.

thanks, Jon. It will be (or should be) such a relief when the new TV contract gets done. There's just no way the premier team in the conference should be playing in the 7.30 slot. Sure, the networks need programming to fill that slot, and I like to be still be watching football late on Saturday, but save it for the teams in the bottom half of the conference or the Mountain West.

... some days you're the dog, other days you're the hydrant.

And playing close games of course doesn't come without risk (Stanford), but it could be what contributes to a team peaking at the end of the season.
-
As a team that has progressively gotten better as a whole, hopefully the next step is to improve into a team that can put teams away
-
That's not to say they aren't playing with fire, see Stanford game. ; )
