Mullens Takes a Mulligan, Then Makes the Right Hire
Do we know the letter wasn't read by Mullens? Offering the job to Wilcox shows he did take those feelings to heart. Yes, Dabo would be a good one for Alabama.

Mullens Takes a Mulligan, Then Makes the Right Hire
I would think if it wasn't true Mullens and Wilcox probably say something like "that didn't happen," but you never know...

Mullens Takes a Mulligan, Then Makes the Right Hire
Ah, that's right, blanked out the Chico State years....

Lousy Hire
Rebuilding from the ground up? Absolutely not. This is Oregon, not Arizona. Oregon is loaded with talent and is coming off a double digit win season. This is no 2-10 program. And again, plenty of coaches do just fine, such as Lincoln Riley and Ryan Day.

Lousy Hire
You are absolutely correct. But that's not the point. The point it you CAN be successful without having head coaching experience, it doesn't make for an automatic failure. And flip it around, plenty of coaches with Head Coaching experience get a new job and stink. Just look at Chip.

Lousy Hire
Lincoln Riley had no head coaching experience before he took over Oklahoma and he did ok. Ryan Day. Mel Tucker, the list goes on. Plenty of coaches make the transition just fine.

What is THAT SOUND Coming from Seattle, Corvallis and Los Angeles?
That cat totally Coug'd it 😀

Lanning? A HUGE Gamble.
Chip was a first time head coach. Ryan Day, Lincoln Riley, Gruden, what's his name at the Rams. etc etc etc ... Lots of great coaches started young and were successful first time head coaches. Some guys just have "it" .... and Mullens must think he saw that. Could it backfire? sure. But a "safe" hire would simply guarantee mediocrity. I applaud the hire.

Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
You certainly have "more than a feeling" about Chip coming back, you have a firm belief it would be the wrong move!
-
Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
I mentioned how Chip would be good for 2-3 years and the talent would begin to drop off. We'd probably start consistenly looking like this year's UCLA team.
-
Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
Yeah, and Chip won't do anything to improve his defense, such as firing his poor DC because he's on old friend.
-
Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
Yup, better to steal a rising star then madly scoop water off a sinking ship.
-
Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
Yeah, no Urban, need some fresh blood who likes to recruit, and likes to have a competent offese.

Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
Autzen would be rockin!
-
Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
Yeah, I read up on some of his recruting tactics and it was like he was stuck in 2009, not up on the texting and social media.
-
Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
Yeah, I don't even want to think of how I would feel if he came back.
-
Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
Haha, yup, it just doesn't work.
-
Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
Yeah, he just needs to be an OC. He doesn't have the desire to do what it takes to win big at a big time program. If he wants to be a successful head coach, he might want to go to a Group of 5 program.

Bring Back Chip Kelly? No Thanks
Yeah, any mediocre coach would have done better at UCLA than Chip has done. See Jim Mora. I just don't see him being successful.

Ducks Must Start Ty Thompson in Bowl Game or Forfeit
Ah, ok, I misread the point u were making. 👍

Ducks Must Start Ty Thompson in Bowl Game or Forfeit
I take it you think the Ducks should stick with Brown? I see an apples to oranges comparison. This year we have talented "the future of the program" backups, in 2015 there was nobody behind Vernon. Vernon always played well in 2015, Brown not so much this year, to where people have calling for Thompson. May as well get started on the future in a meaningless bowl game and have a qb get some snaps in before facing Geogia next year.

Ducks Must Start Ty Thompson in Bowl Game or Forfeit
Could there ever be a less motivated team in a bowl game than these Ducks? Lost playoff dreams, then lost rose bowl dreams, KT will sit out and probably others. Oh, and we could be playing with an interim coach. The Ducks will look way worse than the 2017 Las Vegas Bowl. (And remember, as of right now, due to the MC uncertainty, the Alamo is no lock. Bowls hate interim coaches.) The ONLY thing that will garner interest from the Oregon side is a new QB. Plus, it only makes frickin sense.

And who can forget the great Robert Tepper!?
