Below is from a John Canzano article today, and I could not help but laugh... --------------------------------------------------------------------- • There’s an interesting Sunday deadline looming for the Pac-12 and Mountain West. The two conferences have a mutual option to continue their scheduling partnership in 2025 or go in separate directions. • I wonder if the Pac-12 will kick the can a few more weeks down the road and try to get some higher-profile games (Read: ACC and Big 12) for 2025. • Oregon State AD Scott Barnes told me at the start of the week: “We continue to explore all options including the MWC.” That echoed WSU President Kirk Schulz, who offered: “We continue to work to get this done.” • I talked with a few Mountain West athletic directors this week. They’ve offered input to their university presidents and Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. The ADs are waiting to hear what happens. Oregon State and Washington State are paying the MWC $14 million to play the crossover football games this season. One AD told me he was concerned that continuing to play Oregon State and Washington State in 2025 might negatively impact an MWC program’s record and could torpedo bowl eligibility. Said the AD: “It’s more money, but those are games that schools in our conference would expect to lose more often than not.” ------------------------------------------------------------------- So, for the Power-4 conferences....the Pig-2 are not good enough, but for the Mountain West--they are too good? Seems like these two piggies can't find the porridge that is just right. You gotta feel sorry for them... (Right?)

Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus Idaho? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Lets get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon, 52-10, 3, 4, 342 Terrence Whitehead Against the Vandals...

Good Gosh…a blockbuster match so early? Whew!

No, I do not want to be lowly ranked, and have to watch teams above us-hoping for their loss. it is much easier to start at No. 3, keep winning, and retain a very high seed. Beat Ohio State and be a No. 2 seed, and if the Bulldogs slip…hold my heart!

Idaho Test: Is Oregon’s Positional Depth for Real?
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Getting a quick sizable lead with that offensive firepower will allow reps to reserves and build that depth. So much great talent that has been recruited on defense are underclassmen, and this is a crucial year for them to get playing time and be ready for 2025. The grind of the new conference schedule will place a premium on playing those reserves. And certainly on defense, the talent appears to be there! -
Watching Other FBS Games This Week: Thoughts?
Charles Fischer replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Minnesota fit the classic B1G profile...a strong, great-pursuing defense, with a very unskilled offense. Receivers who were slow, and could not get open, with limited passing skills by the QB. NC won 19-17. -
Watching Other FBS Games This Week: Thoughts?

North Dakota State ends up on the five yard line on the final play? If the Bison had one more play…they could have beat the ‘Buffs? Whew! -
Now is the time when we get very passionate and emotional about Our Beloved Ducks, and sharing that passion is what this forum is for. Yet we are the forum-with-decorum where the fundamental philosophy is grounded on the Golden Rule... "Be Polite and Respectful to all." (Rule 6b) All posts, everything comes back to this. Most of you have never heard from me because you follow this basic precept! Do check our rules again, as this is the only forum that requires civility from everyone. Reminders: --Posting negative is fine, as negative events occur all the time, and that is what this forum is for, but venting on us is not. (See No. 31a and 31b) --Being critical of player performance and coaching decisions is fine; as again, that is what the forum is for. But you do NOT get personal with current coaches and players. (Prior coaches and players are fair game) See Rule No. 26 --Throwing Group-Shade, where you denigrate the group of those who may disagree with your view is off-limits. (See Rule No.2a and 2b) If in doubt? Just post your opinion, your facts, or your rationale and that is it. Make no reference to anyone else's opinion, and you'll be fine. We want spirited debate on topics to see all the angles...so share yours! Remember, over 99.60% of posts here are perfect. If you violate our rules--guess where the problem is? Be nice, and you'll be fine. This is such an exceptional community with so many great volunteers that make it happen. Be a part, share your thoughts, and savor this upcoming season! Love that Yell-O background!

Comcast Test: Were They Honest?
Charles Fischer replied to Grandpa Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
YouTube TV has unlimited cloud storage for shows and games, BUT, they are only saved for nine months! -
If he cannot beat out a RS Freshman at Tulane....how was he going to lead the Oregon offense? It was not popular, but the Oregon coaches made the right call by bringing in Dillon Gabriel....right?

I am delighted with the WSU game of 2022, as that could have turned the season against us--and it was quite a comeback to have happen. To me, the play was a fourth down and at that time, Bucky Irving had NOT yet been catching the ball very well. But Nix hit him across the middle, but it was slightly out in front of him. He dove out, and caught it on the ends of his hands for the first down. It was an incredible catch, and without it--we don't win. So many close plays to a season! Dano and Tosh were Worried...

Deion Declares: "No Wonder OBD Did So Well Last Year"
Charles Fischer replied to criticalduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This was not until now. But the prior threads and posts last football season did--and none of you dealt with all the people in the background as I did. You make good points, but I do not want further discussion in this direction. Thread locked. -

Comcast Test: Were They Honest?
Charles Fischer replied to Grandpa Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We already had one thread about this issue with TONS of information in it, including my decision last evening of how I am proceeding, and why. I will let you read them right here, and of course we have to start a whole new thread about this topic, and people will miss items in the first one because...it is your experience, after all! Canzano had another article today about this today, and the bottom line, I believe is that Comcast/Xfinity will NOT pay the fees the B1G Network (primarily owned by Fox) wants. The fees are between triple and quadruple, and not just for those who use the B1G Network, but ALL subscribers. Between the Oregon Brand, the Seattle market and the massive LA market between the four teams blacklisted...it would be ENORMOUS fees that Xfinity/Comcast would have to pay. I do not believe they will. What I am doing for this game is detailed at the end of the thread linked above. Oregon Sports are my major form of entertainment, between the events themselves and this wonderful forum with so many great people. Whatever it takes...I will do it and pay it. I can be frugal about many things, but this one is not in that category. Not going cheap when it comes to Our Beloved Ducks. -
I must say, I am very impressed with the channel line-up of both Fubo and YouTube TV. I made an extensive list of channels that I watch on Comcast/Xfinity, and checked both Fubo and YouTube TV to see the best compatibility of favorite channels. Both were excellent for all the sports needs, but YouTube TV had a few more stations that I like to check into and the tiny few not available were not deal-killers for me. So, YouTube TV is what I'm going with, and I am getting mine set up before the game on Saturday. I'm taking advantage of their four-month sale of $53.00 a month and then going up to $73.00 a month thereafter. I have an older TV, and thus I am using a Roku devise to attach the streaming service of YouTube TV to what I have. (Ok...the tech guy did it!) I will actually have both Comcast/Xfinity and YouTube TV for the next four months to determine how well I like it, and I might cut the cord after the football season. What I like about YouTube TV is an unlimited game/show storage in the cloud, but what I do not like is NO slow-motion as I do with a TiVo DVR with Comcast/Xfinity. For football--that is crucial, so I might end up getting screwed by doing both--because I need the slow-motion for analysis and better enjoyment. But I cannot be blacked out of Our Beloved Ducks in any sport, and my gut feeling is that 1) this is going to go on for a while, and 2) other snags will emerge that YouTube TV can solve as a backup. I waste money like crazy on my Oregon-obsession....and I love it, so what is a little more?

Discussing an upcoming game with possible outcomes...but... "We'll see." No kidding we'll see. Isn't that the most obvious thing in the world? -
