  1. Four from one of the nation's powerhouse programs? Danno is killing-it!
  2. The Athletic writer meant it in a charming, almost complimentary way? --------------------------------------------------- No. 2 Oregon 35, Purdue 0 You’re not really a Big Ten team until you squander a top-five ranking on the road in West Lafayette. Therefore, Oregon is still not a Big Ten team, having instead destroyed 1-6 Purdue on Friday night. No. 22 Illinois in Eugene is next. Assuming Oregon moves up to No. 1 in today’s AP, that’ll be this season’s fourth change atop the poll. That’s already the most for any season since 2014’s four. --------------------------------------------------- While we are certainly are a B1G team now, I'll bet that many B1G Athletic Directors have no qualms about adding Washington and the LA market at the moment. But Oregon? "They're going to be a pain..."
  3. O-HO State? Naw...I won't go there...
  4. Lanning has not lost to an unranked opponent yet. Unlike prior coaches who would play-down to their opponent, or simply let one get away that shouldn't, (Yeah, I'm thinking of Stanford over the years) this coach has the players mentally ready. That stadium was packed with a Black-out, and they had hope after scoring 49 points the week before. This was never in doubt, and I salute the staff being so ready. BTW...how bizarre is this? --Purdue goes from scoring 49 to zero! Or... --Illinois gives up 49 points, and then holds Michigan to seven? Whew!
  5. Andrew Boyle is a senior, been loyal to the program and has recovered from injury. They are working him in for occasional Field Goals, PATs, and Kick-offs for a variety of reasons, IMHO. First, in case of injury to Sappington, second--to promote his own NFL resume and let him show he can still kick, and finally to let Sappington know that there is competition if missed FGs and PATs continue. A kick-off OOB at garbage time by Boyle did not hurt us, but I agree with your point--we can't do that. But it is part of Dan's roster-building, I believe. Andrew Boyle
  6. Evening slots to them....love it!
  7. I think the question of "Any B1G Regrets?" ought to be asked of USC fans right now?
  8. Leave Oregon football discussion to other threads, please. (Can you take a hint?)
  9. Goodness this should have been moved to a new thread, and now there is one. Please move the evening CFB game discussion to the new thread on the front page.
  10. Let's continue the discussion in a new thread! Dawgs up 17-0! Leave Oregon football discussion to other threads, please.
  11. The Athletic just did an article on this... --------------------------------------------------------- College Football Playoff Bubble Watch: Oregon’s Win Over Ohio State Comes With a Bonus In the BCS era, one loss meant a season with national title aspirations was mostly over. In the four-team College Football Playoff era, no two-loss team ever made the field. But now, with the Playoff field at 12, two losses still won’t outweigh what the most accomplished teams of the first half of the season have done. What often goes overlooked is the reward for winning a game like Oregon did over Ohio State in a top-three showdown on Saturday, or Texas did against Oklahoma this weekend and at Michigan early this season. The Ducks and Horns are at the season’s midpoint with big-time wins and no losses. And what winning quality games offers is the luxury of knowing one bad night can’t dramatically change the trajectory of a season in which a team has already accomplished a lot. To miss the Playoff now for teams like Oregon and Texas — and include Penn State after its comeback win Saturday at USC — it’ll take a total collapse.
  12. We can give up one, but then it puts a ton of pressure on the B1G Championship game. There will be too many two-win teams vying to get into the Playoff, and I would not want to be in a beauty contest for that.
  13. Purdue actually does not suck at the running game, as they had over 260 rushing yards at Oregon State on the road, and 239 against Illinois.
  14. With a four-team Playoff, yes. Below is a thread about an article I wrote giving my opinions on why we are not scoring as much, and the thread in discussion about it. If you want to discuss further...please post to that thread since we are discussing defense in this thread.
  15. I am watching Indiana vs. Nebraska today because the Hoosiers have a great offense, and because if they beat Ohio State in the 'Shoe later--Indiana could be in the B1G Championship game!
  16. We do NOT discuss last night's Oregon game here, as we had a separate GameDay thread for our game, but all the other games out there in CFB in this thread. (I will delete posts about the Oregon game, as we need to keep the discussions separate) Do provide score updates for these other CFB games when you can, as well as your thoughts of what you saw. A full day of DANDY games!
  17. The final score was 35-0 and Autzen Magic predicted 38-3 and thus was only off by six total points! Most of us were a MILE off, as we did not see this defensive performance coming so impressively on the road. Now Grandpa Duck was the next closest with a 38-7 prediction that was only ten points off, but ol' Autzen Magic made it easy to not have to use the tiebreakers this week! Thanks to all for playing and CONGRATS to Autzen Magic!
  18. That will be very hard to do once we get into the Playoffs--with the teams we will face. But for our remaining regular schedule? Why not break the record over the 12 games? After all, it is the...
  19. For those around the country that watched the Ohio State game and were impressed with the Duck defense....and now they see a goose-egg by Purdue at home after scoring 49 last week? That will surprise some pundits...
  20. Well, Look at last year's full stats for giving up points per game...
  21. John Canzano acknowledged the Oregon defense... "Give a tip of the cap to Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi, who got a shutout. It was the fifth time this season that the Ducks’ opponent failed to score more than 14 points. That’s remarkable." OK....good observation, as I did not know that. Five times out of seven games?
  22. To think that Michigan at Illinois are our next two opponents!
