...to "stick-it?" If this had been a four team playoff, then Ohio State would not be National Champion, and I doubt that Ryan Day would have survived as coach. I almost wish he would tell Ohio State fans that after winning a 'Natty--he needs a "sabbatical" from coaching, and privately negotiates a retirement settlement with the AD at osu2. Then, he can rest a year, and have his pick of any CFB job that comes up. The Ohio State fans we have seen on this board were all-class, as well as an editor at FishDuck. But the Lunatic-Fringe part of that fan base doesn't deserve his future coaching. And no....I was not thinking from an Oregon standpoint, although it would help us, but thinking more from a human element. How much do you think that Day believes ANYBODY at Ohio State who is patting him on the back now? Probably a number you can count on one hand that stood with him after the Michigan loss. Interesting stuff for the offseason. They wouldn't fit on one hand...

USC has a NIL organization, but their own fans say it is poorly run. USC is in the top ten in the nation for schools with the most billionaires, and their total wealth is over 56 Billion while Phil Knight is worth 40 Billion. The money is there; there are no excuses.

So, did the first edition of the 12-team Playoff accomplish what it set out to do? Andy McCullough wrote in-depth about the cultural impact of expanding college football’s postseason format. Here, let’s recap three key pieces and determine whether they were successes: Fan interest: Success. The number of average viewers nearly doubled from the first round to the semifinals. The championship featured two of the sport's biggest brands, with very little argument about whether either deserved to be there. Fans followed teams from passionate home-game atmospheres to traditional bowl sites, giving even the casual fan more to root for as the postseason went on. “College football has never fulfilled its potential in terms of fan interest across the country,” former CFP director Bill Hancock told The Athletic. The expanded field offers a better opportunity to achieve that. Seeding: Needs work. The sample size is too small to start making broad assumptions about the lopsided first-round games or about all of the teams with byes losing in their Playoff debuts. The championship being played between No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 8 Ohio State, both of whom had been seeded well behind No. 3 Boise State, No. 4 Arizona State and others, speaks to the weirdness of it all, though. And some needed tweaks are clear. Oregon drew much too difficult of a path for an undefeated No. 1 seed. The timeline: Hung jury. The expanded Playoff brought us the longest college football season ever. There were 43 days between the CFP final rankings being announced and Ohio State winning the crown. The interest generated for so many teams and fan bases is enormous.

Anytime you have a Playoff or Tournament....all you gotta do is make it in. Then catch fire, as Ohio State and the Washington Commanders have shown. Doesn't matter how many losses you have in the regular season if you make the Playoff, and peak then. Ohio State was in such shambles after the Michigan game, but...
