Why the Pac-12’s Survival is in Everyone’s Interest
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If we can make it happen--super, as I'd love to stay in the Pac-12. But I will go along with whatever Oregon decides is best for them, and will continue to be a very intense fan. -
Great post 2002duck, and on the other sites--they think this might tip things to Dante coming back. Most on other sites do not think Dante is ready for the NBA, contrary to my thoughts on the 12th and now. I would be wary of quoting me when it comes to basketball; with my football thoughts, those are usually reasoned--backed by hundreds of hours of study. Even then, I am wrong half the time! But my Basketball thoughts are just WAGs. Like Oregon Baseball, I enjoy watching the sport, but do not know much in-depth about it.

An Offer From B1G in April Coming?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Wow--great point Jon, and I did not think of that negotiating tactic. I am sure that whatever the Pac-12 comes up with--the B1G is lying in weeds saying, "we can beat that, and yet it will be cheaper than a full new member." Nah, I'm sure it will go well. -
With what I've watched thus far, I do not think the Ducks can overtake Stanford (No. 9 in the nation) or the Bruins (No.7 in the nation) but I do believe we can pass Oregon State and Arizona in the final conference standings in a month. (Oregon is unranked at the moment, and none of the current B1G teams are either) Oregon's RPI is No. 16 in the nation, (Which would just make the cut to host an NCAA Regional) and the Strength of Schedule is an impressive No. 4 in the nation. We find out soon about our chances, as we have a series at Tucson this weekend. The Oregon hitting has come alive as the Ducks have scored 59 runs in the last five games. Whew!

A forum member on another site, (who has had some correct inside information before regarding the hiring of Lanning and Stein) states that his source tells him that an offer will be made to Oregon and Washington "before May." Not a lock, but decent credibility. The B1G could guarantee money to OR/WA well below what they are paying to Rutgers and Northwestern for 5-6 years, and that would probably be well above what the new Pac-12 contract would be. If they offered 40 million--would you take it? What is your cutoff point? Mine is 40 million, not 38 or 39 but then I am not one to decide! Yet it would be easier to make the new 12 team CFB Playoff in the Pac-12... And the morality of it all--destroying the Pac-12 for our own survival? (Some would say greed) Another Bad Decision?

Speechless. Former top-10 prospect Kel'el Ware to enter transfer portal, leave Oregon 247SPORTS.COM Oregon freshman Kel'el Ware, the No. 7 overall prospect out of the 2022 class, will enter the transfer portal and has no intention of entering the 2023 NBA Draft, he tells Worst-thing-possible. Unbelievable. So Duck fans...how does this feel to you?

Canzano: Bring on the Invite for San Diego State
Charles Fischer replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
He had a great paragraph at the end.... "The highly seeded teams (of March Madness) lost and were eliminated. That’s how a single-elimination tournament works. This has been an amazing event. If you prefer a college postseason with a limited field that is stacked in favor of the high seeds… one that goes out of its way to ensure that the most successful, highest-ranked regular-season teams make it to the championship… you still have college football and its four-team invitational tournament." Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Yet so true... March Madness shows us how excitement is created, and while I am delighted with a 12 team CFB Playoff, I am open to 16. (and no more) -
The Oregon Ducks Offense: Will Stein’s Heavy Veer

Thanks Coach, as that is a great play to allow the RB to find the hole in short-yardage. We appreciate your work! Jordan James punching through at the goal line... -
BYU - The Team the Pac-12 Could Use Right Now?

PK Park: A HITTERS DREAM....Even in the Rain!
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And the home runs have continued....two in sixth inning to add to the prior ones. Below is how the rain came down... -
The rain was just pouring down in the third inning, so much so that it was hard to see through it from the camera behind the pitcher. Yet the Ducks hit THREE home runs in that inning, scoring six runs, and most would tell you that hitting up here in Eugene in March, at 44 degrees with pouring rain would be pretty hard. Considering how incredibly heavy the air is--yet PK Park works well for hitters...even in rain! Only natural, as it only water off the Ducks!

NCAA Makes Massive Decision on Transfer Rules
Charles Fischer replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Good gosh. The NCAA makes one bad decision after another, and escalates the risk to the players that much more with a transfer. Add to that how the period of recruiting portal transfer prospects is short--and easy for everyone to fool each other in the recruiting process and you add another bad element for everyone? Coaches will not like being the bad guy of removing a scholarship from a non-performing player, knowing that with the current rules--the player is trapped. For all parties... -
Our pitchers started the season out hot, then the starters took a step back while the relievers (mostly freshmen) surprised us. The starter on Sundays, Jackson Pace, has been moved to reliever this week, while Saturday starter Leo Uelmen has been moved to Sunday and Logan Mercado starts on Saturday. (Jace Stoffal starts on Friday as usual) I thought we might see Matt Dallas as a starter considering how hot he has been lately as a reliever. Eyebrows raised...Coach Waz does not sit tight when there are issues. (Like giving up seven runs in the first inning!) It was amazing looking at the ERA numbers for some of the relievers: Grayson Grinsell's ERA at 4.35 does not look super, but he's had great innings, and some stinkers. But boy he was superb up in Pullman when we needed it. Freshmen will do that... Matt Grabmann has a 2.16 ERA. Ian Umlandt has a 1.93 ERA. Matt Dallas is at 1.65 ERA. Austin Anderson has a 1.00 ERA. Josh Mollerus has a 0.00 ERA....yeah, no runs given up as our closer. Whew! Gotta love a pitcher with a Mullet!

Nick Saban Fires a Shot at Alabama's Basketball Coach
Charles Fischer replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Saint Nick? I remember the thread on another forum years ago with pictures of Alabama players with new cars...tons of BMWs, and the string of pictures had to be over 25 of them. Wasn't it amazing how they could do that on a college football stipend? -
Even with the bad free throw shooting--we could have won it at the end, but made bonehead choices on shot selection in the final two minutes. That, and with such a young/inexperienced line-up we did not have a clutch player to turn to at the crucial time. I was surprised that Dana did not call a time-out and set more plays up and tell the players to think. But this group went farther than I figured they would and I enjoyed the last three games. The experienced/smart squad won the end of that last game--where was the coaching?

Ducks Who Are NFL Bound (No.2)
Charles Fischer replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
College players need an analysis like this going into their final year of college in order to know what to work on--to help Oregon do its best as well!
