Why Oregon will Flourish in 2023 and Beyond
Again...we have been discussing this for the past year. First, it is being hinted that Autzen will be upgraded in the near future to handle more seating, and that if donated by private donors and from the season ticket holders like myself--(charged 1,500 last time) that extra revenue for the athletic department will come from the B1G connection, and thus we would have the seating to handle big Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State fan bases. And to repeat; this is not about stadium size when discussing the media contracts, Mic. These are two different things, and the primary driver of TV is actual eyeballs on the set and Oregon is one of the best at attracting those eyeballs. Come 2024....our audience will REALLY grow with all the B1G fans who are curious and want to watch/scout Oregon on TV. This forum will also have many new members from B1G teams who will be very welcome, if they are anything like the good people we have had here already. The Big-12 people wore out their welcome, and many were banned...

Canzano: Finding Logic in a 74-Point Drubbing
He doesn’t like it if we score 81 points, but if we scored 41 points, then he would be writing about how Oregon is not as good as we hoped, how we really miss Dillingham, how we need a head coach, who is not so defensive, minded, etc. etc. Right?

Fast-Twitch on Display and Offensive Pundits (Whew!)
Yep, and when the truth emerges of how good Oregon is....they will claim they, "knew it all along."

Fast-Twitch on Display and Offensive Pundits (Whew!)
My Duck-Buddies....could you believe all the fast-twitch talent out there? As I've been touting....the nation is going to wake up to how well Dan Lanning recruited from the portal, as they have transformed this team. On one defensive series in the third quarter that went 3-and-out for the Vikings...all three downs had great plays by transfers at defensive back; Tysheem Johnson, Nikko Reed, and Khyree Jackson. Studs...studs! Goodness...could you believe how both Tez Johnson and Gary Bryant Jr. just oozed speed, fast-twitch and the excitement that comes with wondering...."is he going to pop-it this play?" We have some really fun games ahead of us! The pass-deflection by freshman Daylen Austin was a "whoa" moment for me, as it was an incredible play. Remember what I say about "Greatness and Weakness Emerge Early?" Pathetic Pundits Don't you just shake your head at some of the revisionist spin you see from some media pundits? They are writing now..."there were not any questions about the offense going into this season." Say what? I remember most of them, and a ton of people on this forum bemoaning about how we did not know Will Stein, had questions about him, and had real questions about replacing four starters on the offensive line. I am not always right, but I nailed this in advance as you all know. I knew we had actually more starting snaps from this new group than we had last year going into the season. (ProFootballFocus Stats) And between Coach Boles and I....there was a ton of confidence in Will Stein, and while the playbook was not opened much--I did see some innovative stuff already. At times, entertainment for me comes from the media as well as from the football field. Mr. FishDuck

Lanning 'GETS' it Unlike Any Other Coach at Oregon...
At the game--he appeared to have confidence and some Mo-Jo, unlike prior years. I look forward to watching the telecast today to look for on-field "presence," as this goes a long way. Oregon QBs throw for 86% completions?

Prime Experiment Working?
So, Oregon will lose a top-25 team off their schedule before playing them, (Texas Tech) but pick up one that will replace it in Colorado.

I would agree with you; our second unit had no drop-off and really destroyed their second unit.

Why Oregon will Flourish in 2023 and Beyond
You have not been around when we have discussed this extensively already. Oregon has the seventh largest global brand among colleges, with a bigger worldwide audience than Alabama, Georgia and USC. This is not about the Willamette Valley, it is about the massive audience beyond. Where are the Oregon Ducks in study of largest college football fan bases? | Ducks Wire DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks have one of the biggest fan bases in the nation. But where do they stack up among the most beloved teams in college football?

Lanning 'GETS' it Unlike Any Other Coach at Oregon...
We all know how you have to game the system as best you can to make the Playoffs, especially if you are from the Pac-12 with one loss later. You need tons of beauty-points, and 'ah-ha' moments for the public when they think of Oregon. The Bodacious campaign was great for that, and I did not even think of how it would help Oregon reach the Playoffs....until now. Rich Brooks and Mike Bellotti were too nice to run the score up, and Chip would go into what I called "Turtle-Time" in the second half where they would be calling a play at the LOS, then stop, look at the sideline, and when the play clock wound down--they'd run another Inside Zone for four yards. (Of course Mari's 'Prevent-Offense' never got the score very high) EVERYONE knew this would be a blowout and expected a 51-10 type of score. But when they see 81 points? They say, "whoa," and then remember--"oh yeah....they have Bo Nix back and he must be killing it." Everyone noticed 81 points, and I appreciate Dan Lanning doing what needs to be done to play-the-game and put Oregon in the best position of public consciousness. I imagine he knew about these things at Georgia, and it is great to have an SEC mentality running the show. Come join Oregon...

Ducks Push PSU Around While Duck Pushes the Ground
Ryan! So great to have you back as a writer again for the FishDuck audience. David Marsh and I were at the game, and it was GREAT fun watching all the scoring. Now to go over the game to see things in depth... Fun article, and again--WELCOME BACK!

Willie Taggart Update:
He'll be fine. I wish I could everyone who wanted me to leave would pay me 17 million as Florida State did. I get restraining orders instead. Kidding!

Prime Experiment Working?
Problem is....we are not playing TCU. We are playing Texas Tech...

GameDay Thread versus Portland State: Join Us!
Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! The vast majority of you are GREAT in this thread, but you must remember that this forum is different, as we require civilized discourse. Discussion of negative is fine, but don't vent on us! Rule No. 31d covers GameDay Thread Conduct, and it is not hard for the vast majority of us--just a tiny few who need to reign it in when things don't go well for Our Beloved Ducks. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game!

Portland State: As First Game is Perfect?
You know, if you play a Portland State later in the season after you have had tough games, with more tough ones to follow--a PSU game seems like a let-down. But when it is the FIRST game, and we are frothing-at-the-mouth for football...."yeah I'll eat up a Portland State game!" Having them first after waiting for football for so long is perfect to me. My Duck-Buddies....because of my prior arthritic back condition--this will be the first game in five years where I can walk into Autzen stadium and soak up Oregon football. To make a long story short--I could not get up out of a chair and walk a few steps back in January without incredible pain. (I have been dealing with this for years) Now, due to a change in diet and supplements I had never heard of before--my back pain is 90% gone. All this from what I am eating/taking in, and not eating. Crazy, and the doctors were no help. But I am grateful to our creator for guiding me to solutions, and one of the benefits is going to a couple of Duck games this fall. Writer David Marsh and I will be on the 35 yard line soaking in the wonder of Oregon football. I cannot wait, and I am so very thankful for something as simple as walking a half mile...

What Can We Learn From a Game Against PSU?
What do I want to see? Bombs. Explosion running plays. Sacks. Turnovers created. A dominant performance on both sides of the ball. A new defense....the GREEN WALL.

It's Final: Cal & Stanford to the ACC
A sad day for OSU and WSU, and for Olympic sports at Stanford and Cal. I would like to continue playing them as non-conference foes, but boy it is all so strange.

OBD Prediction Contest vs. Portland State!
It is that time of year again...isn't it great! Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus Portland State? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Lets get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon, 65-13, 3, 4, 278

Nope. He has the speed and size, but there are other components that make a great player.
