The B1G or FOX, Inc.? Obviously, the B1G presidents have to approve but first, where do they find the money to further expand? Will UCLA and USC support adding Oregon? I think the 2 would prefer CAL and Stanford over the better competition on the football field they would see from Oregon and UW. And better CBB competition from Oregon. Maybe one of the B1G junior media partners, CBS or NBC steps up. It would be interesting indeed if the B1G were to get Amazon, Apple, or another high-tech company involved. This would make more sense for any hi-tech company compared to doing a deal with the Pac-10. ESPN has ESPN+, but FOX, to my knowledge does not have a streaming channel. FOX does have other linear sports channels. NBC does have a streaming entity with Peacock. CBS has a downstream linear sports channel. Fascinating and there has to be a lot of back-channel 'stuff' going on. But to speculate or ruminate on this without a trusted source is just bad journalism. Shocking, right?

And it is somewhat ironic that the former Oregon president is in the B1G. In today's marketplace, I just do not see ESPN/FOX paying more money for B12 inventory. Who knows what the final number for the Pac-10 teams will be but I do not see Pac-12 schools unless there is no choice based on the new media deal numbers, agreeing to be junior members of the B12. Especially, with BYU, Cincy, UCF, and Houston receiving a full share. SDSU and SMU joining the Pac-10 for a lesser share will still most likely be a big financial step up compared to the Mountain West and the AAC.

Per The Athletic (paywall) 3 new rules for the 2023 CFB season have been approved by the NCAA. 1. Clock will not stop for 1st downs except in the final 2 minutes of each half. 2. No consecutive timeouts allowed. (Kickers everywhere are celebrating.) 3. No untimed downs; penalties will carry over to the start of a new quarter. I like all of these 3 new rules. Now, please adopt the NFL rules regarding the review of plays. Or, limit the time allowed for review.

Totally agree. The networks will not give up their income advertising stream. But something has to be done to cut down the time college football players are on the field. I think the undisclosed "plan" is for the CFB playoff to go to a 16-team field in 2026. For this to happen the regular season has to be shortened one way and the other. Tape the game and start watching after 75 minutes of play. It's the only way to escape Fansville.

I love it. CFB was played for decades and decades without the clock stopping for first downs. IMO this makes sense just as the pitch clock makes sense in MLB. This in part is being passed in anticipation of a 12-team playoff likely to go to 16 teams after the 2025 season. CFB has to find ways to cut down the amount of time players are on the field. This will get folks headed home earlier after late kickoff times. (I hope CFB stats will reflect this change. Lots of records have been knocked out due to the games running longer and teams running more plays than once was the case.) A 3 hour broadcast window as we have now for CFB is a myth. The majority of NLF games end in the allotted time frame. BTW, if it was up to me, except for champ and playoff games I see nothing wrong with having games end in a tie.

Great take on the conference being extremely competitive in 2023; so much so that I think no team finishes with fewer than 2 losses and the Pac-12 champion will again, miss the final Final 4. 11/11 could be one of if not the toughest and most expensive tickets in Oregon football history. I'd love to see Troy lose every game but for the good of this game and eyeballs watching, would it not be sweet if both teams came in undefeated? Calling College Gameday.
