Kingsley Suamataia has entered the transfer portal
'Home sick?' Isn't this what we heard about ISM before he ended up in Dallas? I just hope Kingsley doesn't transfer in conference? I do hope he transfers to Fansville? We are in an age of CFB free agency. Stud recruits have to be re-recruited. 5* recruits all believe they are headed for the NFL. They want to play as true frosh and get the 3 years in so they can get paid. KS will not be the only guy to portal out.

PLACE YOUR BETS
Great call on both the SOS and SOR being clearly in the Ducks favor compared to Ohio State. Ducks have the #15 SOS in the country and the Strength of Record is also up there. Ohio State has yet to beat a top 25 team. Probably will do so this Saturday when #20 Penn State comes to Columbus but there are many 2L teams on par with PSU. Oregon is 2 spots behind a team it defeated with the same record. The same is true with Auburn being ranked 18 and PSU 20. Another example of name over substance is Bama at 3 ahead of undefeated OK, MI and MI ST. Bama lost to a 2L team and its OOC win over Miami means jack. The first Committee rankings come out this Tuesday. It will be interesting to see the variance between the AP Poll and the Committee rankings. Whole lot of 'eye-test' ranking in the AP and Coaches Polls. Will the Committee rely more on stats?

Cristobal to Miami Speculation has Begun...
Fleck played Ohio State close and has a winning record at season's mid-point including a blow out win at CU. Good point on Harsin but I'm not sure that Alabama has the same vaccination mandate as does Washington? Fun match up this Saturday when Kiffin brings Ole Miss, -3, to Auburn.

Huskies 3Ws this season have come against teams that are a combined 1-17 vs FBS competition.

How Joe Moorhead Beat the Bruins’ Blitz
Thanks Joshua, great analysis. Chipper are crew were outcoached. Chip is being paid $5.6M a year (Mario, $4.4M/ Smith, $2.4M) and is under contract through 2022. However, his buy out goes to $0 in mid-January 2022. The current UCLA AD did not hire Chip. Chip's recruiting numbers stink; especially, considering the LA location. The Bruins in 2021 is a very experienced team. Lots of starters depart after this season including QB DTR. Kelly obviously has not produced the expected results and I don't see him in Westwood after 2022. Perhaps he is gone after this season?

Better? I can't say that for certain. Equal? Lane Kiffin, Dave Aranda, PJ Fleck, Dave Clawson (sp?), Mark Stoops, Bryan Harsin, Matt Campbell?

This unfortunately may be the 1st of many. Make no mistake, there is roster tampering going on all over the place in this world of CFB free agency. TCU's Gary Patterson noted not long ago that 5 SEC teams had approached guys on his roster. You recruit 4* and 5* guys today? You best get them on the field of play.

PLACE YOUR BETS
I am now 12-8 on the season. Take that Bear! That that 'virtual lock' Joey Galloway. If Joey was in the home security business, your possessions would be long gone. I got greedy last week. OK ST easily covered the +7 at Iowa State but did not score the +210 straight up win. But Notre Dame more than doubled up the -7 vs USC; a program that has removed the LOS from Los Angeles. It is frankly hard to believe how bad these Trojans are playing. With a solid QB and a 1st round draft pick at WR. And how about them Beavs! Not only covered the +3 but won outright at home. Based on YTD results it's a darn good thing the Ducks play the Beavs in Autzen. This week? I like #13 Wake -16.5 vs Duke. Not only on the merits but on the nomenclature. Demon Deacons! In a CFB world filled with far too many dogs. cats + tigers. you have to love this nickname. Staying in the ACC, I like Miami +9 at #17 Pitt. Pitt won a 'big' game at home last Saturday vs an impotent Clemson O. Pitt lost at home to W Michigan. The 3rd string Miami QB is balling out and these Canes have not stopped playing hard for Manny Diaz. And how about them Kiffin's and #10 Ole Miss? Auburn came close to a win at Penn State. Big deal. I like the Rebels -3 at War Eagle. I don't see Bo Nix keeping up with southern Cal guy, (sigh) Corral? 3 P5 coaches have made dramatic turns in the right direction in 2021. A former CU coach, Mel Tucker, at Michigan State. Dave Aranda at Baylor and Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss. I'm not sure why he'd leave the financially sound SEC for the Pac-12 and USC? And LSU may cut the Trojans off at the pass? But IMO Kiffin should be #1 on SC's new HC board. He knows SC. He knows the Pac-12. And he is one heck of a recruiter. Bumps in the road, career and maturity-wise, yes. But he did a magnificent job post-Saban rehab at FAU and in year 2 not only does he have Ole Miss playing outstanding O but the D under his watch has also vastly improved. Never bet more than your than your creditors can ignore. BTW - YTD 1L and #7 Oregon's SOS and SOR are both far better than #5 1L Ohio State. But every game counts, right?

The Ducks Are Halfway There
LOVE IT! How about Bad, Bad, Anthony Brown. Baddest Man in the whole damn town. Meaner than Buffs, Cougars, Utes + Beavs, Chomps down on Dawgs as he so please.

The Ducks Are Halfway There
Yep, we're living on a prayer, no doubt.

Cristobal to Miami Speculation has Begun...
Maybe? I believe there are other guys out there who could bring a Natty to Oregon? Would they leave jobs in financially secure conferences to come to the Pac-12?

ESPN FPI: Oregon will NOT Win Out
The FPI is one of the worst at CFB rankings and projections.

Remember When Those Huskies Were Supposed to Go 12-0?
Phil Steele's 2021 Surprise School certainly surprised Phil.

Cristobal to Miami Speculation has Begun...
Miami can help Diaz cause with a win at 17 Pitt on Saturday. Miami is +9. Do not forget that this Pitt team lost at home to W Michigan. And Pitt is coming off of a 'big' win vs Clemson. Even if Miami wanted MC and even if MC was inclined to coach at his alma mater, the buy out is $9M. That's a big chunk of change for a private school without the vast # of alumni B1G schools have and without the passion of the SEC schools; especially, at the administrative level. I think LSU is in a much better position to go after MC if it so desires? I see Miami as a parallel move at best. LSU is in a different place altogether than is today's U.

Marsh Power PAC Rankings - Week 8
David, taking Tx Tech. OK ST, TCU and Houston, would immediately, upon their entry to the Pac-12, significantly bump up subscriptions to the Pac-12 Network. Likely get the network up on DirecTV and perhaps entice FOX to take over ownership and operation of the network. I see no way that The Alliance will result in the ACC, B1G and Pac-12 combining as a group to sell their media rights. The ACC is tied into ESPN until 2036 and the B1G has enough clout on its own. The B12 and its 4 new members will now assign their collective media rights to the new B12 media deal. This takes these schools off the table as expansion candidates, at least in the near future. I think passing on expansion in favor of picking up an extra P5 OOC game was a tragic mistake with potentially devastating consequences for the Pac-12. You cannot tell me that in the long run OR ST and WA ST have the media clout of OK ST, TX TECH, TCU and Houston. With its 4 new members I will not be surprised if the new B12 scores a media rights deal equal to or greater than that of the Pac-12? BYU has a nationwide following. Orlando and Cincinnati are both good sixed media markets. Houston is a huge media market. I very much hope I am wrong. But in big business if you have a chance to eliminate a viable competitor you do so. You get yourself into position to be one of the P4 16 team conferences. Unless the Pac-12 strikes before the 4 officially become B12 members and a new B12 media deal is in place where is the Pac-12 going to find candidates equal to or better than these candidates? I think the Pac-12 tripped over future dollars to save pennies today?

Monday Analysis: Cristobal about the Offensive Line vs. UCLA
Thanks Charles. Any idea when Forsyth will be good to go?

The Ducks Are Halfway There
Ok, so call sideline passes that worked all day long. Not a throw over the middle and a wing and a prayer throw by a guy with a scatter-shot arm into the end zone. I stand by what I said, these were 2 terrible calls.

Marsh Power PAC Rankings - Week 8
Love this feature David, thank you. I think this poll is perfectly representative of how Pac-12 teams stack up. In regards to the P5 conferences, even with Clemson down, the Pac-12 has a solid lock on 5th place. Oregon is the only team in the top 25. OOC the Pac-12 went 9-16 vs FBS competition, with Notre Dame at Stanford yet to be played. The conference suffered 2Ls vs FCS opponents. 6 SEC teams are ranked. 5 B1G teams are ranked. 4 B12 teams are ranked. 2 ACC teams are ranked. 2 AAC teams are ranked. 2 Independents are ranked and BYU is 4-0 vs the Pac-12. The only conference team that has exceeded expectations is Oregon State, -1.5 Saturday at CAL. The only conference team recruiting at a championship level is the Ducks. A 5* USC DL commit just de-committed and is headed to Georgia. The conference is a national laughing stock with most expecting the Ducks to take at least 1L and for the conference yet again, to miss the Playoff. Yet, the conference 'leadership' decided not to expand. To add a P5 OOC game instead of moving into Texas and into the Central time zone. Instead of moving into the massive Dallas and Houston media markets. Instead of eliminating a P5 competitor. A competitor that has since added 4 quality programs to its diminished ranks. Add BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF to the 8 remaining B12 teams and even without OK and TX the B12 will be a better, deeper CFB conference than the Pac-12. Now, should the 'leaders' of the Pac-12 decide to expand, where can the conference go? With the decision not to expand, how much financial growth will the conference see from the next round of media negotiations? What is the future, if there is one, for the Pac-12 Network with the conference standing pat? In my opinion, the decision not to expand 'at this time' made by the conference powers that be on August 26, 2021, was a terrible business decision. A decision that likely ends any hope the conference had of ever again being a real competitor in P5 college football. In 2021, I think the Ducks have a great shot to go 12-1 and make the Playoff. For the sake of the Ducks and the conference this best be the case.

Rivals calls ‘5-star OL Kelvin Banks to Oregon Ducks’ one of nation’s biggest recruiting surprises.
Thanks for the link. It will not be over before signing day.

The Ducks Are Halfway There
Terrible play calling late in the game game a game manager QB the chance to lose the game. Throwing those 2 passes made ZERO sense when you ar up 2 TDs late in the game on the road with a QB who is marginal at best.

From Cristobal: Brown Better at Reading Coverages than Fans Think?
OK, the mid-range, open receivers were sporadically hit but not in stride. And the errant deep ball throws to guys running free were missed. In his 6th season of CFB ball Brown is what he is. After bringing the team back to a 17 point lead, why call plays that are not in his wheelhouse? The short out routes were not stopped by The UCLA D,. So throw a mid-range ball into the center of the field and a deep ball to a double covered receiver on 2 bad calls that resulted in picks? Why these calls instead of staying with the run game and and the dump off passing game? Instead of running down the play clock?

What Is Going On Here?
2021 - More top 25 Ls to date than since the advent of the AP Poll. In the ACC I expect Dabo will do again in the near future? It ain't over before before the Fat Lady ESPN PO Committee sings. Traditionally, the O in Ohio rings truer than does the O in Oregon?

Marsh Power PAC Rankings - Week 8
These rankings Mr. Marsh are mellow. Hopefully, Arizona can winless out and cement that #130 ranking? Oregon has met expectations to date. All others but Oregon State have failed. The biggest 'F' goes to UW. Hats off to 4-0 BYU with a game left vs USC; a team that has taken the LOS away from Los Angeles.

Record-Setting Day Coming Up?
I am resident in South Cackalacky. A 10 AM local tee time (Bloody Mary in hand) gets me home post-18, even after stopping to collect my winnings (?), by 2:30, easy. In Aiken, SC, we live in horse country. Accordingly, we play golf cart polo. We say Neigh to any round over 4 hours in duration and Whoa to any hacker who exceeds 4 hours Living a driver and a 3 iron from the club (at 74 it's 2 drivers, a five hybrid and a wedge) I have time to take a shower (my spouse roundly approves of this) throw on my Ducks sweat shirt and stay awake (subject to modest imbibing) until the game's conclusion; or, until my ticker quits. But in all honesty, games start far too late on the Right Coast. Especially for those of us in advanced middle age.

Record-Setting Day Coming Up?
Don't count the ducklings before they hatch? Especially in 2021? My goodness! Even a 2 score victory with the opponent not having the chance to win or tie on its last possession would be sweet. Big benefit for Right Coasters from the UCLA win. Game kicks off at 3:30 with UCLA/Utah bumped to 7:30. Instead of taking a nap I can get out for a pregame 18! (Which may or may not be a good thing?) Rough Up The Buffs!
