Do Oregon Fans ‘GET’ How Special the 2023 Team Is?
DanLduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Not just to come here for playing time, but for real development. Oregon has the coaches to get that kid to the next level. -
Thank you Legion! I don't think I've ever seen that video or heard that song. Truly awesome! Brought back many memories of that great season and going to games with my son. Definitely a comparison to this year's vast improved D. Might have to come up with a new nickname.

Hopefully be healthy enough to coach up fellow teammate and be around practice etc

How Washington's Injuries Will Impact the Game
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Excellent info again Mr FishDuck. I think all those studs are seniors too. As mentioned elsewhere, kudos to our strength and conditioning coaches. We definitely have more team speed, we are tackling better, and watching those big front four get good push on those O-line's, is a thing of beauty. -
How Washington's Injuries Will Impact the Game
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thanks Charles. Great stuff. No one likes to see injuries, but it's a realistic aspect of the game. Not only has Lanning developed our depth, we're basically pretty healthy right now. I hope to see our run game be stellar and that our defense pressures Penix regularly. -
Let the portal be open!! Apparently alot more coaches liked what Sanders did at CU than are willing to speak up. I guess now the flood of transfers will really take off. And I'm sure we can expect more tampering claims. Oh well, it is what it is. I'll just have to buy a program each year to know who our players are.

He does have a redshirt available.

Khyree Jackson Practiced, or Was That CODE to the Huskies?
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Lanning is very calculated and careful in what he says. But I don't ever see him speaking a falsehood on purpose. If he says Khyree practiced, I believe he must have. Now the word "fine" and "well" are rather general. My belief is KJ will be playing on 10/14. And UW will have fewest passing yards if their season. -
UW Has an Extra Week to Fix Weaknesses
DanLduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think the crowd in Lubbock was louder than UW will be, but should be a good reference point for the team. Crowd noise usually juices up both teams. But getting snap count right is big, we don't want false start penalties. Oregon is in a pretty good position: We are mostly healthy (assuming Khyree is back) Pre and post snap penalties are way down O-line is playing solid with more confidence The defense seems to be coming into its own, and with all the rotation that's been used, players are fresh. Bo is playing at a really high level. (All we need is to hit a couple more of those near misses on the deep shots) With the extra "work" week (a la Dan Lanning) our guys should be as ready as ever to bury them dawgs. My biggest concern is controlling qb runs. Can't let that guy beat us with his feet. And stopping them on 3rd and long. That is still a major issue. Sat 10/14 will be a very good day to be a Duck! -
Oregon Ducks Football: Navigating the Storm of October
DanLduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
After Oregon beats the dawgs in their own house, there will be no longer any "flying under the radar". That would push Oregon into top 5 and boost Bo's Heisman talk. The media hype will be huge. And set a clear target on our backs for rest of Pac12. Well, that targets already there, so bring it on. Oregon and Lanning have there goals set, play the game not the situation. Play to the Oregon standard. One week at a time. Bring it hard everyday. Clearly the month ahead is a doozy. It's a fans ideal month. One great game after another. It's gonna be AWESOME! Last thought, on paper, we are better then all teams left to play so that's encouraging. Now, let's get er done. -
Oregon Ducks Football: Navigating the Storm of October
DanLduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Run Bo just often enough to make defenses account for him. That helps the offense big time, especially if his runs are timely and successful. -
Very sad for Noah. Hard for team also. He brings so much to the team. Well, Oregon is one of the best possible places to rehab a leg injury in the country, so here's to a complete, full recovery and a successful 2024 in the B1G.

Do You Share My Fine-Feathered-FishDuck-Fantasy?
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In any year, any team running the table, is an amazing accomplishment. For some years, some teams, its more amazing than others. There is so much that can happen. Injuries. Emotional letdown. Very poor reffing. A couple of mistakes by individual players at critical moments. Bad bounces. (Not to mention occasional bad calls by coaches). To win a championship, you basically need to beat 'bout everyone. So, running the Pac12 is necessary. That said, we can afford maybe 1 loss. "If" we lose to UW (please, heaven forbid) we need to win out, and play UW again in Pac12 championship and win! But, a big but, Charles and David said it, the Ducks are built differently. This is the year for us. Without Bo, and the senior starters on the D, next year will not be as promising. Good, yes. But I don't think championship level quite. So, what better year to do what hasn't been done. Win out in the Pac. Last year. Pac12 champions, like first year. Go undefeated. Beat little brother. Beat our northern sister. Show those LA teams where they can expect to be yearly. This has to be the year of the Duck!! -

More reason to love and appreciate Bo and how special coach Lanning is. -
For the first 24 hrs after the win, sheer joy and excitement!! After that, reality. Cuz WSU, Utah, USuC, and OSU will be still need a beat down. But we have a lovely 2 weeks of anticipation, enjoy y'all.
-
They could win a few games there. Maybe.
-
Khyree, #5, sorry wrong name. My bad.
-
I hope Tyreek is back for UW. Penix doesn't miss many throws and we'll need his great coverage skills.
-
41 pts. Over 500 yds offense USuC just made Oregon look really good. I guess the CU hype train will continue to just keep rollin along. I wonder if more teams will simply get rid of their players and rebuild through the portal.

Best teams in September... about as relevant as picking CFB national champion based on spring games! While getting a good start to any season is invaluable, beating up on soft teams is meaningless. So that's a perfect list for the blowhards at espn. Biggest surprise to me is Duke. I didn't realize they even played football. I guess we will see tonight against Notre Dame if they are for real. For me, the season really starts 10/14.

At least twice. One for each non-conference home game. I think that is the rule. By contrast, this is our 3rd time on Pac12 network. We should be done for the season there.

Dan Lanning’s TEN Over-the-Top Surprises for Duck Fans
DanLduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great take Charles. I might add to #2, PR ability, showmanship. As Darren Perkins so aptly pointed out in his article, Dan Lanning handled that game masterfully. He wasn't glib or demeaning, more like Babe Ruth stepping up to the plate and simply pointing to left field. And then smashing it there. We do have a talented coach. The fact Saban felt compelled to comment tells me st nick is worried about how quickly DL is improving. Remember, he spoke out against CK and fast, no huddle offense. Only cuz he didn't want to defend against it. DL and the Ducks are on the rise. I'm thinking NS is glad we didn't join the SEC. -
Dan Lanning’s TEN Over-the-Top Surprises for Duck Fans
DanLduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just an observation, not a judgment: Dickey was already getting NIL it seems and the #1 CB at CU not playing I would assume is also getting NIL, could receiving $ before actual on-field success be a factor in their apparent lack of hard work in practice? Both coaches claim hard work is antecedent to playing time. So, if not playing, not working hard? -
Thanks Mike. Intense was the word I was missing to describe coach Lanning. That competitive fire, the intensity, attracts great players. I mean, many of us OBD fans were ready to suit up after watching that pregame speech. This past week reminded me a little of last year's game with UGA. CU has some great players, but not enough depth. It will be of interest to see how they recover this year, and rebuild for next year. Lanning did an amazing job retooling his roster for this year. If CU does it successfully, it will be a problem for Big12. Meanwhile, let others overlook our Ducks. Lanning will have them ready.

This past weekend we learned something new about our young coach: he is quite the competitor. Oh, we knew that, or assumed it, but last Saturday, we saw that. A team on a surreal high came scuffing and swaggering into Autzen, trying to bully and intimidate players and fans alike. Acting more like a puffer fish, then anything really intimidating. Our beloved coach was ready and waiting. From allowing the cameras in the pre-game, to halftime rhetoric, to the wearing of the "Bodacious" tee post game, a well scripted message was sent to recruits and Oregon faithful (as well as those additional watchers) Oregon already is "prime time". Lanning took advantage of all the eyes watching nationally (thank you CU) for his own version of showmanship. Hard, fast, hi-scoring, take no prisoners mentality, coupled with aggressive play calling and depth on the roster. (I believe 10 true freshman played) What he showed is Oregon has a championship capable team. Now. And they're hungry and eager. And what a time to do it, in front of 10.3 million viewers. Well done coach Lanning and staff. I also like how he tried to reign himself in a little in the days following. Sat. was a good win, but the real test is down the road. It was just one game. This sat against Stanford is another great test of a different kind. Can he get our boys "up" again for a game that should be easy? So far this year, coach Lanning has had the team ready for every type of opponent, and the results have been pretty much what you would want. He is doing it so well, I'm tempted to describe his coaching as, "Bo-dacious"!
