  1. More practice team bodies. He is a good get.
  2. For Bo to be in the conversation, the Ducks will have to be in the hunt for a playoff spot. That works for me!! I love June! We look so good on paper!
  3. Lanning is a smart guy. There must be a solid reason why we have 3 walk on qb's. Can't wait to find out the reason. One thing for sure, with the high cost of "recruiting" a blue-chip qb out of HS, we will see a lot of qb movement through the portal. 7 Pac-12 teams may start a new qb from the portal. It's a new day in college football.
  4. I hope Steele is right. Since MC first arrived our O-line was supposed to dominate. The reality was the lowest rushing yards in a decade! We certainly have loads of experience. I think they're all 5th year seniors too. Maturity counts for something. I like coach Klemm. He gives me confidence, like the O-line coach with CK. I love how Georgia is ranked just above us. That first game is really going to be a doozy! Yes, they have a big turnover. But their recruiting classes have been better then ours. What a start for our 1st year, 1st time head coach!
  5. What about kids who are held back for academic reasons? My best friend in hischool missed the 3rd grade because his parents took him out of country. As a result he turned 19 in August and wasn't allowed to play team sports. About "peaking" in hischool. Is that even possible? Wouldn't you continue to improve your game with practice? Seems like Tom Brady gets better every year. We thought most of last years seniors who tried for the draft could have benefited from another year. Maybe holding a kid back 1 year isn't such a horrible thing?
  6. Wow, first time I'm the contrarian here! I'm not sure I see the real problem with this. From my own experience, had I done this, I would have had a much more successful athletic career. Wouldn't have been D1, but wouldn't have lost my starting spot. Lol. I don't believe that muscle mass would be hugely different, but I guess it could be. Remember, hischool teams already have different ages playing together so I guess it depends how many years they are held back. Some kids are late bloomers. An extra year of development can be very helpful. As far as meddling parents go, it already is a problem and now with NIL it will become a serious issue IMO. Now it's not just about a good school, it's about making bank also.
  7. I don't understand why human right violations by Saudi Arabia are worse than China's. Or even our own. The NBA and most all others do lots of business with them and we still watch and follow our favorite teams. To be so high and mighty about this seems a bit childish and maybe an attempt to be "woke". The PGA's stance sounds like my kids fighting when they were 7 years old! "Fine, you can't play with my toys then"!
  8. Yes, and I like it that way. Let's stay under the radar for as long as possible. The 2 losses to Utah last year, losing Dye in transfer, a new starting qb,and a new coaching staff, makes for the rest of the country to think we have too much to overcome. The pressure is already on USC due to expectations. That sets up potential of a disappointing year for them. We can start out of the gate with nothing to lose, play loose, and have success. I like our chances.
  9. Our current coaches have said the same thing. The ideal TE is a guy who can block like an O-line men but have soft hands. Oh yeah, and be tall.
  10. I want to give Bo the chance for a new start. We did that for AB last year. Problem for AB, he quickly showed us his weakness; late passes and throws behind open receivers. Bo, if he starts, needs to be more timely and accurate. If so, the ugly throw will be absorbed by us the fan base. If he gives us enough positive signs, we will accept most anything. After watching AB constantly throw to his safety valve for short gains, Bo has a big window of improvement to win us all over.
  11. I for one am still not convinced that Bo wins the starting job. His experience is the biggest advantage he has over Jay and Ty. Which admittedly, playing a Georgia defense is a pretty big deal. But I think all 3 qb's have the skill to be the #1 guy. Whoever wins out the fall competition will have earned the position and should give us all at least a sense of confidence, knowing he is whom Dillingham believes will run the offense the best. To me, the biggest key will be our running game. If we can establish that, then Dillingham can get those designed mismatches for Seven and our many tall wide outs and TE's.
  12. Yes!! Let's not forget Cam McCormick. If he gets healthy, he is a stud! And Patrick Herbert is full of potential. We also gained a talented walk on. Our TE room is Awesome! With Dillingham designing plays to gain mis-matches, our TE's will have an amazing year.
  13. Oregon Football: Ducks find value in SEC transfer portal DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks did a good job getting some of the top transfers out of the SEC this season, leaving their former teams with holes to fill.
  14. I agree with the ACC. Use the leverage of needing to decide on expanded playoff as means to solve other major issues first. NIL, transfer portal, player safety, health insurance to name a few. Those issues are in reality more important, but don't yield $$. Thus they are easy to postpone deciding on. The playoffs will make $$, so use that leverage to force decisions on real issues. 8, 12, 16, who cares. The rich will get richer no matter what. So do what's best for everyone first.
  15. Do you think this means fewer high school kids get D1 schollies? Is the portal eating up spots for the HS recruit, or is it all working out in the end? What are all y'all thoughts?
  16. Total player development. That's Lannings sales pitch. Come to Oregon and develop into a young man. Learn football skills. Become the best player you can be. Get a great education. Make lifetime friends with some of the best athletes in the country, across all sports. And learn from a team of dedicated coaches who will love you like family. And doing so, NIL $$ will follow. Maybe even go pro. Most importantly, be prepared for life.
  17. Oregon must not get in a bidding war for an unproven high school qb. We want players who want to play at Oregon, not just make bank. I know many kids (with help from parents, maybe) will hold out for all they can get. Why not. If someone will pay you, do it. But there is still so much more to college football. Getting an education, being prepared for going pro, and most important, having a team and coaches you like being around. Even 5* players are not guaranteed to go pro, especially qb's. The smart ones will know this. They will go to the school that best fits them. There will always be very good qb's in the portal if needed. We should get the best we can without paying big bucks, and use the portal as needed.
  18. I love my Ducks! everyone else, 2nd, 3rd or who cares. Talk about a subjective list! The winged helmet, with the O on the back is 2nd to none!!! In any color! Go Ducks!! (Everyone else sucks!)
  19. 5 visits is plenty. Any more would just confuse the already impressionable young athelete. Kids can take as many unofficial visits as they want now, but on their own dime. That shows true interest. If schools had to pay for more visits, kids would use them just for a party trip. Most blue-chip players have a very good idea of the few schools they really want. 5 is a big number. It's plenty.
  20. Since the NCAA allowed coaches to do satellite camps Oregon has taken advantage. But it certainly appears that DL has increased the number of them and the location. He is using those connections he has established over the years. Well done!
  21. Keep up the good work Mr. Fishduck!
  22. The more I read about Lanning, the more of a man crush I have. Even with the portal and nil and all the other "stuff" going on, watching DL coach our Ducks should be fun and very entertaining.
  23. A "position-less superstar". What a great line! A "slash player" is pretty good too. I agree completely. This should be a fun year for Seven, and he gets to wear his number also. We won't have any trouble knowing when he has the ball. Dillingham will have many plays designed for him I'm sure. Btw, to get 1000 yards rushing and to do it as a receiver also, you have to have speed and shiftiness, just sayin.
  24. Take the 17.5 points and bet the house!! This line should drop closer to 13.5 by game time. Our 1st time head coach will keep it close and our offense will score, think team speed. They will have some knowledge of our defense, at least expected defense. But in a first game, anything can happen. Their QB is experienced and that means a lot in a close game. I'm convinced we cover in this one.
  25. Staying healthy. Why does it seem like some guys get the jinx? Cam McCormick, Patrick Herbert, Justin Flowe... I see this as a good get for us and potentially a great get. This guy brings needed maturity and knowledge of how to maintain the grind week in and week out. Along with Cota, a real boon to the WR room. He also has a great ability and 6'5"!! Love it. I'm hoping he is as impactful as Juwan Johnson was from Penn St. a couple years ago. And I hope he stays healthy for a full year, along with the other guys.
