It sounds like there is a lot of negotiations and decisions to made by all parties. Unlike with Texas and OU, that was a mostly done deal when that news broke. This makes me suspicious. Miami at #20 makes sense cuz they have a potentially good qb and MC has shown he can win in a weakened conference. The ACC only has Clemson. Mari(o), with or without an awesome offense will probably win at least 8? his first year. USC is not at all the same team as last year. They have made a major overhaul. Of course they have always received the benefit of no doubt, and now with the offensive guru Riley and a possible Heisman qb, they as usual, have very high expectations. It will be up to Utah, UCLA, and of course the Ducks, to show them where they truly belong in year one of Rileys tenure. Let's go Ducks!

Interesting topic Haywarduck. This is exactly something I've thought before. Playing multiple sports helps in many ways, most are intangible, and difficult to measure objectively. The ability to think quickly, react and recover, helping with footwork, seeing the openman, anticipating a pass, ( like in basketball), dealing with difficulty, learning to be a team player. Actually playing a game instead of only practice. Think how playing baseball could help; hitting .300 is considered good, but that's 7/10 times of disappointment. You have to learn to leave that last at- bat behind and move forward. That's a vital lesson for a qb. I prefer multi sport guys. They have less chance to be burned out or to have learned too many bad habits.

This is why the portal will be so important. Top ranked QB's are too few and hard to land anyway, and in the new NIL climate even more difficult. So landing a quality transfer may become the new way to go. Look at our own situation. We have 3 guys on scholarship that all appear capable to lead, yet only one will. So if Moore comes to OR, will one or more leave? Would Bo stay an additional year? Look at Texas. Two 5* guys vying for the start, and 2 more 4* in the wings, somebody(s) will be looking elsewhere soon enough. I hope we land Moore to help in recruiting more than anything. But the call of the portal can be a big help in the future.

I think our qb room is awesome. Yet at the same time I'm a bit blue cuz only one can play. To become great, they each need game experience. And barring injury, only one will get it. I expect the coaches will choose to start our best option to win, and with the competition it should only help make that one even better. I sure like the sound of Ty's attitude. He seems ready for his chance.

Anonymous?!? Really?! Talk about hard up for click bait, man. Another nothing article with no news. Is Udub recruiting well in the PNW region? Not even in their own state. Besides us and USuC, who is recruiting better out of Cali? Sco Ducks!

Listen, they only need to win 6 games. Even Udub can do that. And yes, DeBoer is a great coach. In the end, his hire might be more significant than Riley. UW, WSU, USC, and Oregon should all show significant improvement with their new coaches. Yet, it is delightful to see them dawgs hoping for a minimum of 6 wins to get back to a bowl game, any bowl game.

I think this has to be a large part of it. The issues with him covered several years with multiple athletes. In today's atmosphere of zero tolerance, it's not too surprising he is let go. With our track history and new stadium, we shouldn't have any trouble getting an outstanding coach as replacement.

I expect we will see Quinn Evers change schools once again. He's already made more bank than all our UFA's made collectively this past draft! And he hasn't played one snap of college football. Who will end up with bigger payroll? Texas or Texas A&M?

UW is in Seattle. That place is a dumpster fire all on its own. Add in how poorly Udub has been compared to Oregon, why would anyone stay in state! Losing Riley this week stung a bit, so I can imagine a little how they must feel...and it doesn't bother me one bit. I see us getting 8 or 9 of the next 10 games against them, that means they will continue to lose instate to us till at least 2032. And by then our '2nd choice' coach will have played in at least 4 Natty's.

According to the wr group, Butters throws the best ball. Does he get a chance to show his stuff? Only time will tell, but I doubt it. I think all 3 guys can play, but Ty and Jay need to play to get that all important experience. Unlike TE's, we can only play one at a time. I fear that the only way they play will be due to injury.

I'm not feeling it. With the NIL climate being what it is, until some of these blue-chip studs commit, being in a top 4 list means nothing. I am keeping my fingers crossed...

It seems to me over the last decade, whenever we have changed DC, our defense improves dramatically that 1st year. At least statistically. I expect that to be the case this year too. After that it will depend on recruiting classes. As far as the game on 9/3 goes, our biggest advantage is that we are an unknown. With a new HC, a new OC, a new starting QB, there is a lot we fans don't even know! Lanning got a great opportunity. He left a quality program for another quality program that was NOT left in shambles. He has inherited arguably the best roster in the Pac12 (most blue-chip players). Coach DL has a chance to hit the ground running, as it were, at least on all cylinders. I sincerely hope we look good in Atlanta. Btw SoGaDawg, feel free to start a new topic anytime. It's great we continue to send a rep to this camp regularly. It's a good image for us to sell to future QB's. I hope Ty has a great time.

Good food for thought David, thanks. Beside expansion not being a real alternative, the changes to college sports, and those on the horizon could really shake things up. I'm thinking of the potential to keep football revenue for the players and force the other sports to cover their own costs. I'm thinking of some schools simply bailing out of football because costs are escalating out of control. Should Oregon and the LA schools continue to fund Cal, AZ, or Colorado? I guess getting better on the field is the place to start. That's the one area where coaches have any say.

It sucks to lose out to MC though. Also, not surprising that all 3 schools are big on NIL.

The RB room really is stacked. Yet still a great deal unknown. All but James have some college experience too. Will there be enough touches to go around? Don't forget Seven on some end-arounds too. Once again, just one more thing to watch and learn about our Ducks this year.
