  1. ...in tomorrow's contest? The first 2 games have really been outliers. The Georgia game - playing possibly the best team in the country with a brand new everything - Coaches, Staff, New Offence, New Defense, New guys in new positions, etc... And we get blown out. The Eastern Washington we show out and do everything we should do to a team - almost a half mile of total offence, strong performances by both offensive and defensive lines. A total domination from beginning to end. Where does that leave us and what are we now looking for? I posit that in real life our Ducks are in between those 2 extremes. As much as I want the win, I think I am looking for something more. I want to see us be competitive. I want to see guys playing their hearts out. I want to see us deliver a strong competitive performance that win, lose or draw we can collectively see improvement on all fronts - from coaching decisions, to who makes the big plays, to who delivers a strong blue collar performance by dominating their position (whatever that is). Realizing it's a mantra from the past, I want to see Fast, Hard, Finish! That's what I'm looking for. What are you looking for? Go Ducks!!
  2. Sounds like Deja Vu all over again.... Hahaha!!
  3. Thanks for posting this. I used to really enjoy watching these guys, but now that I live way the heck up in warshington, I'm outta luck.
  4. I'm hoping there's going to be a lot of "OK, I get it now" from many (most?) of the players this week, not only defense, but offense too. Nothing like live, competitive action to nail down the lessons you have been trying to learn, perhaps abstractly. Playing and scrimmaging with your own team is no where near what it is like going into a hostile environment with hostile players on the other side. Stuff gets real and lessons get learned. I too am looking forward to that big jump forward in performance. Go Ducks!!
  5. 31 - 28 Ducks 3 TO 4 sacks 350 passing yards
  6. I appreciate the Gordon Lightfoot reference. That song still gives me the chills every time I hear it. Hopefully this is a premonition of things to come, and that the course of the good ship USuCk will follow the trajectory of the last fateful voyage of the Edmund Fitzgerald - straight to the icy bottom. RIP!! Go Ducks!!
  7. Thanks for sharing that! I missed it when I looked at the article with Saturday's uni selection. I'm pleased they're honoring Spencer in that fashion! Go Ducks!!
  8. From the article... I'm down, it's a fantastic look! Go Ducks!!
  9. I had wondered where he went...
  10. Thanks @Charles Fischer for keeping this site family friendly and free from a lot of crap found on other sites. A few minutes ago I was reading through the comments on this article (posted on the forum today, outsourced, not our material): Georgia football: 3 reasons Oregon could shock the Bulldogs WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM It's not LIKELY, mind you, but we're here to tell you that it wouldn't be an earth-shaking upset. It was not too horrible as forums go, but the anatomical correctness displayed was an eye opener. I am so happy to have a forum to come to where decency and manners matter. Thanks Charles! Go Ducks!!
  11. Could it be... ...the trojan horse's fault??
  12. Whatya think? Is Mari nO Offense going to keep this to a one score game? Just asking for a friend... LOL!!
  13. Off topic, but when I was in 8th grade (Valdez, AK), my reading comprehension was college level and above. Due to the influx of kids coming in with their parents (construction workers building the Alyeska Pipeline), they didn't know what to do with me. So they put me in special ed. Special ed was conducted in an old mobile home with very homey furnishings, recliners and such. It was a tough life - lounging in a recliner reading novels. Anyway, there was an old record player, and the teacher was a huge Elton John fan. We listened (while we were reading of course), to the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album every day. Not a bad way to pass an afternoon... LOL!! I still enjoy reading and listening to music at the same time. Thanks for prompting an excellent memory!
  14. Thanks Log Haulin for sharing, awesome tune! I'll be checking out more of his music!
  15. Based on absolutely nothing at all, these were just the first numbers that jumped into my head. Ducks 31 Dawgs 28
  16. And she asks, banging the receiver on the counter, "excuse me, who's calling again? I can't hear you..." LOL!!
  17. Throughout my career, I have found myself learning something from literally everyone I have ever worked with. Sometimes it's a behavior or task hack that I want to emulate, sometimes it's observing something that I know I will never do. Either way, I have always felt it important to keep learning. I appreciate our coaching staff learning from each other. No one person knows everything about everything (Mari nO offense being the sole exception, of course.... ha-ha). You never know when you are going to meet someone who will share "why don't you try it this way?" As other posters have noted, we have transitioned from a D9 Cat (very powerful, very slow) to roomful of brainiacs tuning up the Formula 1 car. I'm excited! Go Ducks!!
  18. Huh?? Why the premise that we'll go down the same path as Washington?? Maybe I missed the National Championship winning DC position on Jimmy Lake's resume?? Good Grief Charlie Brown. This article reminds me of silly putty - quite a stretch.
  19. My expectation is that we will hear football noise that is the equivalent of a Dodge Hellcat at wide open throttle.
  20. Or pass for 2.5 yards in traffic... LOL!!
  21. I've been pondering a response to the OP while reading other responses, and I've had to conclude that anything I might write from the heart will significantly violate our TOS (which I have TON of respect for, BTW). Suffice to say that I wish the worst for the usuck backstabbers, and the best for us. In terms of music, I'm a big Avenged Sevenfold fan. Letting that band name soak in for a few moments is the closest I can come (here) to saying my true feelings. I like the idea of go big or go home! Time to go big!! (and I'm not meaning B1G btw...) I want something that stays more local but comes together to kick butt!! Time to take charge! Go Ducks!!
  22. Thanks NJDuck for posting Canzano's missives here. I'm subscribed, and get all these in my email, but for some reason when you post them here they are much more readable. I have enjoyed reading Canzano for many years - don't always agree with him, but I like his style. Thanks again for taking the time to post these! OlCodgerDuck
  23. I like Marcus a lot, and hope this becomes his moment to break out. Go Ducks!!
