  1. Thanks NJDuck for posting Canzano's missives here. I'm subscribed, and get all these in my email, but for some reason when you post them here they are much more readable. I have enjoyed reading Canzano for many years - don't always agree with him, but I like his style. Thanks again for taking the time to post these! OlCodgerDuck
  2. I like Marcus a lot, and hope this becomes his moment to break out. Go Ducks!!
  3. I enjoyed the write up about Jaydon Grant. I haven't followed the Blazers for a long time, but Brian Grant will always be one of my all time favorite Blazers. It's good to hear about local kids doing great things, even if it's for the Beavers. I hope Jaydon has an outstanding year, except when the Beavs play us, of course! Go Ducks!!
  4. I'm in the car service biz (50+yrs...) and one thing I jokingly tell my coworkers and customers I have a relationship with is that the reason God put a floor board in cars is so that you can rest the accelerator pedal against it while driving. LOL!! I am looking forward (once again) to an offensive coordinator that knows how to rest the accelerator pedal on the floor board and keep his foot OFF the brake pedal! Go Ducks!!
  5. Holy crap!! I don't know how heavy the bale was, but when I was bucking bales as a muuuuch younger Olcodgerduck, the grass bales in Alaska were ~65lbs, and I was lucky if I could throw it 3 - 4 feet over my head... That was an impressive bale toss!! Yikes!! I'm gonna guess that's about a 180 degree difference from the culture at usuck... LOL!! I may watch some of usuck's games after all, just so I can laugh my backside off... haha!
  6. So, maybe it's the whole bipolar Jekyll vs. Hyde thing... On one side you had Mari No Offense, on the other side you had Mari No Defense? Hmmm... One can only wonder! LOL!! I'm glad we're way better off now!! Go Ducks!!
  7. Great song! Unfortunately, I feel like we're already deep into the "done been fooled again..." stage, doggonit! With my fellow posters above, I too am grateful for a green sanctuary where us Ducks of a feather can flock together! Go Ducks!!
  8. Or, was he Shanghaied as was a popular practice in many of our "well" established major population centers on the west coast (see underground tours in any of your favorite major cities of the west coast for reference...). Even Pendleton has a formerly Asian underground well versed in selling folks down the river where a "drink" in the wrong place at the wrong time could see you shipped out involuntarily into the merchant marine...
  9. As an aficionado of Japanese novels, I have some understanding of the above mentioned procedure. Better hope your second (for lack of a better term) doesn't miss... LOL!!
  10. Thanks Log Haulin for sharing the article, 'twas indeed a nice distraction. I am currently living about an hour from Bellingham, and so this article has some personal relevance to me. I enjoy hearing how alums are making it work in the "real" world. Go Ducks!!
  11. Wow, this feels just like finding out your 1st wife is sleeping with some dude she met at work... Oh, wait, that happened too...
  12. There, I fixed it for you - there's some good high school teams in the state that might also give them a run for their money... LOL!!
  13. I think the weirdest thing I saw in that article is Mari spelled with an O on the end... LOL!!
  14. Amazing. For being written by husky fans, there's actually a surprising of truth here... LOL!!
  15. Thank you for the article LaMarr! Welcome to the FishDuck Family! I'm looking forward to reading more of your articles as the year progresses! Go Ducks!!
  16. I'm with you. I think the reason the Mari No Offense "toughness" never really worked is because he wanted a "swagger down main street, look at me and see how tough I am" thing, when what works much better in life is a toughness that you never talk about, it's just part of who you are. I'm more of a fan of the Teddy Roosevelt kind of toughness - walk softly and carry a big stick... I want us to be the kind of tough that everyone thinks we're super nice guys, until they hear us run into their stadium! +1^^^^^ Go Ducks!!
  17. +1 My wife and I moved to an island in the upper end of Puget Sound. While we did a lot of research and love the locale, the lack of amenities and health care selections are causing some pause in our thinking. We may at some point need to relocate back to the main land for those reasons.
  18. And, it was awfully nice to get paid for him leaving instead of us having to pay off an expensive contract extension when we finally ran him out of town. Well played!! Usually before the game began, as I recall.... LOL!! Go Ducks!!
  19. "As Forsyth sees it, that group, along with senior guard Ryan Walk, has unfinished business." I bet they want to see how much fun it is to fly down the field in this brand new offense now that Mari No Offence has departed the premises. They're looking forward to scoring touchdowns instead of just plodding along to try and maintain a 1 score (or less) advantage. Looking forward to the O-Line showing out! Go Ducks!!
  20. I got to see Joe when he was still a pudgy kid opening for BB King (2003 Maryhill Winery, Goldendale, WA). Freakin' awesome show! Poor Kenny Wayne Shepherd had to follow Joe's opening act, and it was embarrassing - the bill should have been flipped - Kenny Wayne first, then Joe, LOL!!. I've gotten to see Joe 3 more times over the years, mostly at the Alladin in PDX. He puts on a fantastic show! Just happened to catch part of his "Live at Royal Albert Hall" show from 2009 last night on PBS. If you guys haven't seen him, he's worth twice the price of admission. I got to have some personal interaction with Joe at that Maryhill show, super cool dude. I don't know if I can make it to one of his shows this fall, but definitely looking forward to getting to see him again!
  21. Some days I love John's writing, some days I don't. Today I love John Canzano's writing. He finds a way to bring his subject to life in a way few other authors do, finding incredible nuggets of information along the way. This story is very touching and helps bring our focus on life back to what really matters. Someday I would love to read a biography(s) written by Canzano on some of the pillars of Oregon Sports - Phil Knight, Bill Bowerman, Steve Prefontaine, etc... Or an anthology of several of them with each chapter dedicated to a different character. I am sure such writings would include pithy findings that none of us know about, but would all be grateful to learn. Thanks for posting this Sir Charles! Go Ducks!!
  22. I couldn't agree more! One thing I like about having it on my phone is I can tap the screen multiple times per touchdown, extra point or field goal, and any other time I feel like it!! Especially when it's a momentum turning event like a takeaway! Go Ducks!!
  23. "Once that happened, the Pac-12 waited exactly six minutes before making the public announcement that it was dropping the North-South format." I do like the feel of the new direction the Pac-12 has taken since GK has taken the reins. Better for the conference is better for the Ducks! I appreciate strong moves by leadership, especially when they offer more chances for the Ducks to win the P12 Championship! BTW, I am a fan of this: “Those effing guys right there, they represent everything that’s wrong with football. So when you kick their a$$, you let them know it.” Too bad it was stated by the recently departed Mari, but all the same I appreciate the sentiment. Too bad Mari couldn't walk that talk the rest of the season, especially when he handed Utah the P12 championship... I am looking forward to a lot more correlation between the talk and the on field performance!! Go Ducks!!
