I hope both Verdell and Dye come back. Honestly, I am not sure how high their draft stock is now. Does anyone have insight on that? Seems to me both will benefit from another year under a better HC.

Great point, Jon. However, I still think that's more of a reflection on MC (or maybe Morehead's overly complex schemes) than Ty, so I hope... I have mixed feeling about Nix, who is clearly better than AB, but not sure if he is worth losing some of our young talents. I hope Lanning makes the right call.

Also remember that we are probably at the bottom of a U curve now in terms of the impact of this coaching shake-up on recruiting. I would expect Lanning and the new OC to bring some of their recruits to UO as well, either via new signing or transferring... Don't panic yet, my fellow Duck fans!

Totally agree. But nobody says the grade can't change... Based on everything we know so far, I would give B+, for youth, coaching excellence and recruiting reputation. But the lack of HC exp and PNW connection are big ? If he lands a good OC and manages to savage our 2022 class, then I will upgrade it to A-. If he delivers next season and leads us to back to Pac-12 champ, then I will happily hand him an A. If playoff, then A+.

As long as we keep winning these like against tOSU, in a few years, we will get to dictate the terms. But as of now, it's a minor miracle that GA is willing to risk their pristine season record to play us...

So the school is paying the 80M huh, not private donors? Even UO faculty would protest once a new HC is hired and the pay is disclosed. But at least they should know that the money comes from uncle Phil...

That's what rumor mills do - nothing. I have given up guessing. I think we will know soon who is the new HC... Fingers crossed.

Chris Peterson all the way, as long as he is no longer burnt out. The other local guys like Wilcox or Chip don't have the winning records or currently relevant skills to take us back to CFP. The splashy guys are going to be short-timers for sure. Not sure that's best for Oregon. But again, we live in a different time and have to move with it too.

This and the pig-headed stubbornness of MC is what did this year's Ducks in. I have to think that's why last night's stadium crowd was 70/30 or 80/20 Ute fans. Ducks fans were just too disappointed and realistic to not waste the $... But bet on this - he will have another game to improve his QBR. Can't be much worse, can it? Sigh...

This game is so over that even putting Mariota in won't help now. Alamo is AB's next game. He will keep on ticking...

In all fairness, they did beat Wisconsin and Purdue, both were top 25 at some point. In comparison, we only beat tOSU, but managed to lose to Furd that they easily blew out, and we got blown out by UT. So I think the ranking is fair for both teams ATM. But BK is a man without integrity. That's something everyone can agree on.

"I have not been able to predict anything this season" This sums it up! This year's ducks are impossible to predict. I have given up. It will come down to how the coaches and teams prepare and how AB performs.

Would be interesting to see how much Akron will pay him...Although I don't think this move is about $. Sucks for the Ducks, but hopefully we replace him with someone in better health. Also, personally I wonder if his offensive schemes are too tricky sometimes even for ourselves. I heard from a booster who sat in with the players as they learned the schemes that apparently only AB was able to get all of his playbook. That's why we have been stuck with him all season. TT and Butter just couldn't grasp all of it at their young age.

As long as capitalism is still in and the boosters are allowed to help pay for coaches' salary, this will just be the new norm, unfortunately. BK is definitely classless for bailing out before end of the season, regardless of what LSU wants. But the real solution may be to require coach salary to be paid entirely by the schools, from their FB earnings, and not from contributions. Otherwise, poor schools like our neighborhood rodents will never have a chance.

I guess it depends on how far Cincy goes this year. If they win it all, then he can write his own ticket, although there isn't a better destination left right now than ND. OK maybe but it's moving to SEC which can be a con and pro. On the other hand, ND will have to be patient and wait till January if they want him. So that's the X factor. Mario is definitely not at the same level in terms of coaching, comparing to Kelly and Riley. But his recruiting compensates. I think he is fairly paid by Oregon, but then again the market dictates the pay. The question is if MC is interested in a move to Miami or OK. If he is, he will probably get what he wants and there is nothing UO can do about it.
