  1. Yes, I will go out on a limb right now and say that Cristobal lasts maybe 5 seasons at Miami and ends up being fired with a roughly 35-25 record over those years. No NY6 bowl games and no ACC championships.
  2. Yes, this has damaged his brand extensively. He is gone......it's just semantics now in the final number he can work out with Miami. He will have little to no credibility left if he decides to stick with Oregon at this point. I might be wrong, but his credibility with on the field coaching was already suspect. Now his character is also in doubt.......too many strikes folks. Exactly. The real sad situation in this mess is how Manny Diaz is being treated and remember he too was once a lauded over Miami alumnus, similar to how Miami is describing Cristobal. Talk about a crappy way to do business eh?
  3. Did Oregon fans even show up for the Pac 12 Championship Game???? That was not a good look. I wonder how much of Mario's decision will come down to the booing at Autzen and that atrocious showing of fan support in Vegas??
  4. It's apples and oranges. Coaching at Oregon with the resources he would have versus coaching at Cal is just not a fair comparison. If we can get a great offensive mind to team up with him (Wilcox is a defensive minded guy) and you add in the kind of talent we have right now (Sewell and Flowe aren't going anywhere...I think) then Wilcox will really surprise you all with his knowledge of the x's and o's.
  5. Did Williams enter the portal? I don't think so. I think he is staying with the Sooners. It was only Rattler who left and he is said to be joining Chip Kelly at UCLA.
  6. Yikes, I am not really looking forward to this game. Hopefully we play Thompson or Butters the whole game. At least this way we get something out of it.
  7. That's cool and I respect that, but we are talking about coaching football here. Like I said, I know Justin Wilcox (and his brother Josh) personally.......or at least I used to since I played high school sports against them in the old Sky Em League for 3 seasons in the early 90's. So yeah I am biased about getting some local blood in the mix. Of course we saw how that went with Helfrich I suppose......but he suffered from the peter principle to a degree I have never seen.
  8. This is exactly where I was up until some point yesterday. However at this point I realized the x's and o's end up being more important than the jimmy's and the joe's. In fact what I believe are the main factors are heart, will and drive. Desire is the ingredient championships are made of. This years team has been short on this characteristic and I believe Cristobal lost his team this season. He is toast. Time to move on. "Bringing it all back home"..........I sincerely hope.
  9. I agree. He is tainted from working with the mutts. Damaged goods. "Bringing it all back home" should be our new motto.
  10. Wilcox coaching at Cal and Wilcox coaching at Oregon are two very different things. Do you think Cristobal would have been able to do anything at Cal either? No, Cal doesn't give a rip about football (or any sports for that matter) so saying Wilcox hasn't done anything at Cal doesn't mean anything. Many of us fans (including me) are sick of out of staters getting home sick. Time to 'bring it all back home' as one of my favorite albums goes. Wilcox for head coach Musgraves or Helfrich for OC Oregonians coaching the Ducks........a dream come true from my perspective.
  11. Let's use this to our advantage and improve our situation. Why pay Cristobal 9 million when we could pay a better x's and o's coach 6 or 7????
  12. As CalBear mentioned Joe Brady was just fired today by the Carolina Panthers. His track record with Orgeron and Joe Burrow at LSU is very good. Can we at least bring him in as the OC? Although head coach might be fine as well......not sure what his head coach experience is though.
  13. I like the idea of Justin Wilcox and Bill Musgrave teaming up to the coach the Ducks. A couple Oregon guys who will settle in and keep things real. Let's face it. They won't be able to recruit the way Cristobal has........but I am not sure there would be a huge drop off either. I played high school sports against Wilcox. He manhandled me in football and basketball for 3 seasons even though he was a grade under me. He is a really good guy though, very humble and would be one of the highest character guys we have ever had.......if not the highest.
  14. Here is an interesting tweet from Mycah Pittman Funny how we here on FishDuck have been saying this for so long. No matter how you feel about Pittman you have to admit he is somewhat correct, the problem is he is going about it the wrong way.
  15. Yes, without a doubt. I know I for one have experienced this phenomena in spades for the past several seasons. I think the reason has to do with with how you can clearly see some of the boneheadedness....it's almost painful. On the other end of the spectrum though you see an everyman's kind of guy, who seems incredibly trustworthy and sincere. A guy that it's hard to stay mad at for very long.
  16. The bigger issue with Cyrus Moss might be Lincoln Riley and the new USC team.
  17. Yes, a good point here. For that reason I think Wilcox and Musgrave are great potential hires to consider.
  18. #1 Bama #2 Michigan #3 Georgia #4 Cincy They will set up for a Bama vs. Georgia rematch in the championship game......without a doubt.
  19. = should have been recruited by Oregon. Speaking of tight ends........what in the heck happened to our historic use of tight ends? They are glorified line men at this point it seems. But even under Cristobal in the past few years they were being thrown to more than at any point this season.
  20. Yep, it's going to happen, because they are going to match or even beat any offers Mullens puts forward. While I see both sides of the coin on this I have decided to land on the side that this is a good thing. We need to change the trajectory of our offense and this is really the only way to get that done.
  21. Looks like two SEC teams in the playoffs this year. Georgia getting hammered by the Alabama passing game. A good passing game is cryptonite to a hard nosed defense. Just spreading all the big strong guys out and reducing their cumulative impacts. Another way to say it is the Georgia D is getting picked apart. Bryce Young is playing darts.
  22. I am good with bringing Helfrich back as OC. How about Bill Musgrave? Whoever it is I hope they want to throw it at least 40 times per game.
  23. Ah yes. But what do you think the chances are that this years Ok State is going to give up 42 points to this offense? Maybe we could win 21-15 though, and I would be happy with that, but I think we will get crushed by whoever we face from the Big 12 in this upcoming bowl game.
  24. All but Leavitt left for head coaching jobs, but in my mind none of the head coaching jobs were as prestigious as working at the UofO as a coordinator (of course I am severely biased). It's well known though that Leavitt had trouble working with him and I think it will become more clear as time goes by that Moorhead had trouble working with him as well. I think the stubborn, pig headedness is the main culprit. A good leader is exceedingly humble and empowering. The job of a leader is to instill confidence by supporting their staffs ideas and vision. The irony of leadership is realizing that you are not actually the one in control. You are essentially facilitating collaborative control of an organization. In the end you are only as successful as your staff is successful and empowered.
