  1. Yes. I love hockey. I'm a Dallas Stars fan, but I live in Canes country, so I find myself going to their games to appease my wife. IMHO it is the best spectator sport by a long shot. This is because there isn't a lot of stoppage and, of course, the "physicality". Portland has a WHL team that has been around since at least the 70's. They've even won a couple of championships (Memeorial Cup). They had a coach named Ken Hodge who was a NHL Hall of Fame player. He coached them for as long as I could remember through the 70's and 80's. I noticed that Oregon's club level hockey team is not allowed to wear the official Oregon Ducks "O" on their uniform. My guess is that Nike doesn't make their uniforms and since the "O" is trademarked by Nike they can't use it.
  2. Remember, Kam Alexander was supposed to come in and start last season and he ended up only playing in four blowouts. He had four tackles and one interception on the year. Nothing is guaranteed when transferring to Oregon.
  3. His old OC, Moorehead, is also up for consideration. He's only making mid six figures at Akron. OSU can triple that.
  4. The 2008 duo of Jeremiah Johnson and LGB produced over 2200 yards and 30 TD's. It was really their only productive season of their Oregon careers, but it bears mentioning. Both did well in the NFL as well.
  5. Word on the street is the job is Hartline's to lose. Day knows they will lose him this year if he is not promoted to OC. Many teams are standing by to poach him.
  6. There is something to be said about having a NFL team on your coaching resume. However, job security is also attractive. Anybody know what Adrien Klemm is up to these days?
  7. This is very true. Only three college coaches have gone to the NFL and won the Super Bowl. Pete Carroll was previously the HC of the Patriots before USC, so he had previous NFL experience. Jimmy Johnson is the only coach to go straight into the NFL from college and win the Super Bowl. Barry Switzer was the other one but he was a figurehead.
  8. They can vacate the wins, but the players have stood on the podiums, kissed the trophies and received the rings. The fans have celebrated as well. The decision won't change anything but the history books.
  9. 1) What will Oregon’s record be and how far will they get in the playoffs? 9-3. They have a rough travel schedule with four games east of Iowa City and a new QB. They miss the playoffs. 2) Will there be a dominant team in college football? No. The B1G and SEC will beat up on each other. 3) What the heck will happen with Lincoln Riley and USC? I think he will keep them in the hunt this year (8-4, 9-3), so they will keep him around. 4) Will there be any changes to the playoff seedings and who deserves a first-round bye? No. It won't get a unanimous vote. 5) How will the SEC “rebound” from having only three teams in the playoff? I think they get five teams in due to the B1G and Notre Dame losing some ground. ACC or Big 12 get two teams in this year. 6) Will a team not from the SEC, B1G, or named Notre Dame make the semi-finals? Yes. Clemson. 7) Will Michigan and Alabama bounce back? Bama will make the playoffs. Not Michigan. 8) Will Dante Moore succeed at quarterback? If success is leading Oregon to the playoffs, then no. However, I think he will be far better than he was when he was a Freshman at UCLA. 9) Will the Ducks lose a coordinator? Maybe 2? No. 10) What is your gut feeling for 2025? No playoffs but new starters start to gel toward the end of the season.
  10. He would have to go into a good situation. The Bears are looking at David Shaw for OC, but Chip would do well with Caleb as his QB. I think Atlanta would be a good fit as well. However, the Panthers, Jets and Cowboys are so dysfunctional they would sink him.
  11. They better respect Oregon since both teams share a national championship.
  12. A generational college RB can do wonders for a QB. Buck Belue, Major Applewhite, Brooks Bollinger, and Maddux Madson would agree. I’m quite sure that some of our UGA brethren on this forum would agree with me when I say that as a left-handed QB, Buck Belue had possibly the sweetest hand-off release in NCAA CFB history. He won them a national championship because of it.
  13. I still like him. This is a good interview. It puts things in perspective. And to answer his question, no, none of us felt bad for beating him the last four times the Ducks played him. Trysta Krick (@trysta_krick) on Threads WWW.THREADS.NET Me — a sad and aggrieved Oregon Duck fan — asks Ohio State Offensive Coordinator Chip Kelly, if he felt at all bad about curb stomping his old team in the College Football Playoffs: “Did they...
  14. When a 12-team playoff takes almost as long to get through as a NBA or NHL tournament then the timeline needs to be condensed. Those two leagues are designed to squeeze potentially 105 games into a two-month span. The CFP sqeezed 11 games into a 44-day period if you start counting days after the conference championship games end. It's 51 days if you start counting when the regular season ends.
  15. Well, according to the Wolfe Index which is one of the “major selectors” used by the NCAA to determine the national champion. Most, if not all “real” Duck fans won’t celebrate this and the team won't claim it, but it makes for a great counter-argument for the Fuskies bogus 1960 championship claim. They used the Helms Athletic Foundation which was never recognized as a “major selectors” and also ceased selecting champions back in 1982. https://athlonsports.com/college/oregon-ducks/oregon-ducks-national-champion-ohio-state-buckeyes-notre-dame-wolfe-ratings#comments
  16. Winning the middle eight was the difference for OSU. Touchdowns going into and coming out of the half were huge.
  17. I’m hoping OSU comes out and scores on the opening drive to put this thing away. That way I can get to bed at a decent hour.
  18. Notre Dame just doesn’t have the offensive fire power to keep up with Ohio State. Great first drive, but OSU has adjusted. They’re going to need some turnovers to stay in this game.
  19. Savage is an excellent tackler and the Ducks need his experience. I don't base my opinions off of the Rose bowl because OSU is an outstanding offensive and defensive team.
