  1. As much as I wanted OSU to win that game (I was pulling for the underdog), the Miami fans are correct.
  2. I haven’t been to a whole bunch of games at Autzen, but I’ve seen the crowd pretty angry and that Cal game wasn’t bad at all. That was just some grumbling. I was at the Arizona game the day after Thanksgiving in 2010 when they were undefeated and ranked #1. Mike Stoops started going nuts on the refs about a targeting call against one of his players. Autzen gave him an earful. The more animated he got with the refs the louder the boos got. Great times.
  3. He’s got an OC and a DC sitting in his lap. Mirabal and Salavea should demand promotions. They’ll never have any more leverage than they do now.
  4. DAT was pretty good on his two carries in the 2012 Rose Bowl. He was 2 for 155 with 2 TD’s.
  5. I treat it like a guy going to the NFL. If he doesn’t play for my favorite team he’s non-existent. I cheer for my team, but not really against any individual player on the other team. I appreciate what Herbert did for Oregon, but when he lines up against the Cowboys I hope his team loses. I’ll look at Dye the same way.
  6. Oregon is like a prime fishing hole right now. Everybody is showing up to poach their limits. The entire coaching staff turned over in roughly 30 days which means recruits and players don’t have real relationships with anybody. I’m sure several more will follow.
  7. Because Kirby dangled a NC ring in his face.
  8. No surprise. He entered the portal shortly after the Pac 12 championship game. He’s been gone for a while.
  9. I know Varsity Blues was a comedy, but if you played HS football in Texas there were parts of the movie that were very real. Coach Kilmer, the parents, fans and announcers were firmly based on reality. In fact, those announcers were the same announcers who were on the call of an ESPY winning play. Apparently, Jon Voight saw this footage and wanted them in the movie.
  10. He already signed his LOI. Is he afraid of a little competition?
  11. Yep. Mario put in the time recruiting these guys, so I have no problem with them following him. Even if he did make his final push after the Pac 12 CG while wearing Ducks gear. Lanning built the relationships. If he can use them to his advantage, then have at it.
  12. I believe that was a quote from Emil Faber. The founder.
  13. I learned more about Oregon history during his PK80 broadcasts than I did in grade school.
  14. I was just thinking the same thing. This guy’s trick plays are a disaster. UGA’s lack of discipline is also pretty horrible. You can definitely tell that Saban is the master while Kirby is his student.
  15. Bama has scored all the points they need. This is going to end up like the 2012 national championship game against LSU.
  16. I grew up when The U was the dominant team. I appreciate that Saban can keep Bama just as dominant without resorting to the type of swashbuckling hijinx that Miami was famous for.
  17. Great article. Coach Campbell was and is an Oregon football legend. It’s always good to reach back and get some advice and guidance from a man like him. Another place I would look to see how things are done in the backfield is the University of Wisconsin. They always seem to get the most out of their RB’s. For example, their new RB this year was a 17 y/o true Freshman. Braelon Allen is his name. He’s just a local kid from the state of Wisconsin, but he’s a future star. His key to success is his weight training. He has a 405 lb. power clean and a 610 lb. squat.
  18. This guy took the wrong approach in writing this article. The big X-factor he left out was the university’s ability to allow these coaches to succeed. That would’ve bumped Venebles up to an A and dropped Napier and Cristobal down to a B or C. I don’t think it would change Lanning’s grade because he’s unproven as a HC so far.
  19. Good luck next week vs. Bama. You will have a contingent of fans pulling for you from the far reaches of the Pacific Northwest. While the phrase “Go Dawgs” isn’t in our vocabulary because of the dirty mutt fans up in Seattle, many of us will still be cheering for you guys. We hope Dan Lanning continues the great tradition of coaches from the “Saban Tree”. We think we have a great situation for new head coaches to come into. Since 1993, we’ve only had two losing seasons. We’ve only ever hired one true HC from another program and he only stayed one season, so hiring unproven coaches is nothing new to us. Thanks for stopping by. I hope we’re competitive in ATL next season. I live in the region, so I might show up. Until then, Go Georgia, beat Bama!
  20. Our punter didn’t drop a snap in the red zone. We also stopped the on 4th down three times.
  21. It always starts with a muffed punt snap. The Breeze TD always brings back good memories.
  22. Imagine if Oregon threw deep passes against Utah’s DB’s. Smith-Njigba is having a field day. Too bad he fumbled one into the end zone.
  23. I hate to be “that guy” but we’ve been doing this since Mario announced he was leaving for Miami.
