  1. Oklahoma wins 48-24 0 TO’s 1 sack 192 passing yards.
  2. My favorite memory of John Madden was when he was calling the Cowboys vs. Giants (I think) game and talking about Nate Newton’s nutrition habits. I’m assuming It was Giants because it was windy and they were on astroturf and The Meadowlands was always windy it seemed. Anyway, Nate was laying on the ground for some reason with the camera on him and a Snickers candy bar wrapper goes blowing by on the turf. Madden jumps at the opportunity to mention that Nate was probably storing Snickers bars in his football pants, so he could have a snack during the game. Madden replayed the candy bar wrapper blowing by and circled it with his telestrator pen like he was diagramming a play in his usual fashion. It was absolutely hilarious. So, Nate gets home after the game and catches all kinds of grief from his family and friends about it. They all thought John Madden was serious and told him he needed to quit snacking during the game. Great memories!
  3. The Holiday Bowl was just canceled a few hours before KO due to COVID protocols, so there is still a chance this game can get axed at the last minute.
  4. This still has to get through the Coral Gables city council. Here is a quote from the Miami Herald. “The city of Coral Gables said it is “NOT in favor of a stadium project” and that the “speculative” proposal would not be compatible with surrounding neighborhoods, a spokesman told the Herald.” The story of a new stadium is just that. A story. It’s something to sell to recruits. Mario most likely will not be around once it does get approved and then built.
  5. I’m seeing a lot of arguments about Miami’s greatness from 20+ years ago. However, that’s why they poached Mario. They want to get back to that. Miami was an attractive job, but once the boosters broke out the $$$ it became an irresistible job. Had they not landed Mario they could’ve had Kiffin, Kelly, etc. He will win more games than Diaz. That’s not hard to do, but he will be under an immense amount of pressure to win championships. Miami’s boosters are not paying $8M/year for ACC Coastal division championships. He gets 3 years to win the ACC and prove he’s not another Randy Shannon. Miami is a lot like USC in many ways: 1) They have a championship tradition that hasn’t been lived up to in many years. 2) They broke the bank for their new coaches. 3) Their fan bases only show up when they’re winning. 4) Their is way more things to do in Miami and LA than watch average to above average football. 5) Their AD’s will not tolerate 8-4 or 9-3.
  6. Very weak argument. This was Klemm’s first year as OL coach in Pittsburgh. Were you really expecting great things after losing Villanueva, Pouncy and Decastro while running Matt Canada’s scheme? It sounds to me like Klemm is jumping off of a sinking ship.
  7. Oregon’s new NFL castoffs were college coaches for a long time before their time in the pro’s. As for the Steelers OL, you can blame that on Matt Canada. His schemes are about as exciting as Mario’s. Orgeron fired him and so did Locksley. I suspect he’ll be fired after this season. Klemm was just a cog in that wheel. Tomlin should also be fired but the Rooney’s are too loyal. His latest coaching turnover backfired on him.
  8. Well, he WAS the head coach a Free Shoes University (FSU) for a while.
  9. As the head coach my stance would be that they can have a sideline pass if they were on the team during the Fall and played through the Civil War and/or conference championship game.
  10. They played TTU pretty close. They also went to OT in the FCS playoffs against Incarnate Word. They would give Wazzu all they can handle.
  11. Slick Rick was a good cheater, but Barry Switzer and the entire SMU staff during the 80’s were the kings.
  12. If you’re talking about the Kris Hudson episode against Arizona then I will wholeheartedly disagree with you. That young man earned every bit of the butt chewing he received and it was apparent that he respected MC by his response. He took it, responded with “yes sir”, and played hard when he got his second chance. Kids need to be coached hard and disciplined appropriately. Coaches don’t need to lay hands on them, but I don’t have a problem with grabbing face masks or jersey’s to get their attention. This is my opinion and I cannot be convinced otherwise.
  13. The PAC 12 had a shot at a couple more but Oregon and ASU couldn’t get it done. Both have been foiled by Ohio State. USC is the only school that has won an outright championship. UW (Miami) and CU (GT) both split their titles.
  14. Every time we played Wisconsin in Pasadena the crowd was 65% red shirts. Hell, Nebraska and Tennessee fans held at lest 35% of Autzen Stadium in 2013 & 2017. Duck fans have no room to talk.
  15. Expanding the PAC 12 would really do nothing for the conference. They already own every major television market west of the Rockies. That’s why they wanted Utah and CU.
  16. I think Chip was a terrific leader and coach. Those were his biggest strengths. Of course, he wasn’t perfect, but he got things right most of the time. There were a few moments where his leadership really shined through. 1) The way he handled controversy within the team. He would give players the opportunity to correct themselves with punishment (Blount, Kiko, LMJ), but he was not afraid to let good players go if he felt they were a detriment (Masoli, Harris). Of course, it would never happen today because a player could just transfer. 2) The 2011 USC game. That team had every reason to lay down and take the beating that USC was dishing out. However, they fought back and darn near won the game. You always knew his teams would go hard for 4 quarters. Something we haven’t seen since.
  17. That handle likely isn’t associated with their program. Probably just some dude. That said, Sark will have huge challenges in Austin due to their boosters. He’s a lot like Peter from office space in that he has several people to answer to.
  18. Oregon doesn’t win the Pac 10 and go to the Rose Bowl in 2009 without Nate’s save against Arizona.
  19. Why do you think he left? He’s trying to stay one step ahead of the storm. Willie T did the same thing, but it eventually caught him.
  20. He’s actually 48. He graduated from Central Catholic (Dan Marino’s HS) in Pittsburgh in 1991.
  21. This article details his surgery, but the details of his new job are at the end. He is taking a $600K/year pay cut to coach the Zips. I wonder if his desire to get back home is the only reason. Outgoing Ducks OC Moorhead details health scare, emergency surgery WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Moorhead had a ruptured diverticulitis on the morning of the Stanford game earlier this season, which led to emergency...
  22. No. It made its rounds on Twitter. Apparently, Thibadeaux called him a fraud and Cristobal told him he was getting beaten by future insurance salesmen.
  23. I hope he got out of Eugene with his degree. Otherwise, he just wasted his time.
