11 Minutes with Coach Joe Lorig--Special Teams Special Again
McDuck replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Good interview. I would expect media savvy Oregon to arrange better lighting for interviews, rather amateurish. The Lanning interview was also bad lighting, lots of shadows. -
Projected Ducks Depth Chart for Week 5 of Spring Practice
McDuck replied to FamilyofDucks's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The WSU kicker Andrew Boyle is still listed as an inbound transfer but isn't on the roster. The same for Nebraska DL Jordon Riley. No explanation that I have seen. -
Could Ty Thompson be the No. 3 Quarterback?
McDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
First team varies day to day. Alert the Auburn writers that Bo Nix has fallen to third string. -
What USC should fear is Lincoln Riley being another Chip Kelly, wildly successful taking over an established program with systems and personnel in place but lacking the drive and insight to rebuild a damaged one. If Lanning doesn't succeed Oregon is out $20 million and a few years. Took a chance on a rookie coach and it didn't work, time to move on. If Riley fails the Trojans are out over $100 million and known as a place coaches fail. Who would follow him? Could they ever recover?

Another Lost to the Transfer Portal--DL Jonah Miller
McDuck replied to Kurt Rambis's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Isn't talking to an athlete from another institution before they enter the portal a NCAA violation? -
Oregon should respect every opponent and fear none.

A detailed look at the OL performance from his time at UCLA. Certainly not a glowing review. Troubling but I also remember USC fired Steve Greatwood and he is the Oregon gold standard. Many Ducks celebrated when Andy Ludwig departed yet he is highly regarded at Utah. A lot depends on right time, right place. I will leave it to the football technicians to critique the article. Mario Trades Doug Fir for Palm Trees, Little Else
McDuck replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
A couple of interesting snippets with emphasis added from a Miami recap of their spring game. Sound familiar? The Miami Hurricanes offensive is expected to be more methodical and physical under new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis. The completion percentages for Garcia and Van Dyke were impressive. Miami needs more production in yards per attempt. Garcia and Van Dyke combined to average 5.89 yards per attempt. That would have ranked 121st last season. Miami Hurricanes quarterbacks efficient in spring game CANESWARNING.COM The Miami Hurricanes offensive is expected to be more methodical and physical under new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis. 13-22-1 since 1972, average score 21-29. Surprised the last 20 years is 7-6 good guys with each team averaging 34 ppg. I didn't realize they missed playing so often.

Spencer Rattler Calls Oklahoma TOXIC SITUATION

At the time of his transfer there were rumors that Rattler would not be missed by his teammates at OU. -
Dan Lanning: "I'm looking to get coached just as much as the players are." - Footballscoop FOOTBALLSCOOP.COM Dan Lanning is approaching his first head coaching job with a rare humbleness, leaving something for everyone to learn from.

Another Oregon Kid as a Preferred Walk-On Joins the Ducks
McDuck replied to FamilyofDucks's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
A preferred walk-on is a high school recruit who is guaranteed a spot on the 105 man roster; a walk-on normally goes through a tryout process. The PWO status only applies to the first year, after that a roster spot is contingent on practice performance. Walk-ons can be on the team for five years just like a scholarship athlete. On some occasions a walk-on will earn a scholarship but rarely before their final year. The granting of a scholarship normally happens in the fall when a team hasn't used the full allotment of 85 full rides due to some type of attrition. As a general rule a three star athlete would be considered as a top 800 type player. Each recruiting service uses their own numbers but generally a five star is roughly top 30, a four star is top 300. Simple math leaves 400-500 three stars. -
Another Oregon Kid as a Preferred Walk-On Joins the Ducks
McDuck replied to FamilyofDucks's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Checking the roster from 10 and 15 years ago they ended with nearly 100 listed players. Some kids leave during the year, some are dismissed so it is reasonable they started with about the maximum allowed. Can't speak to the quality but not nearly as many high school players were rated back then. -
Another Oregon Kid as a Preferred Walk-On Joins the Ducks

I believe the current roster limit is 105 of which 85 can be on scholarship. -
According to pundits publishing click bait rankings not tough enough to be listed. In fact BYU makes a couple lists in part because they play the Ducks. Lots of different opinions listed, how many are worth the cost of the cyber space they occupy is open for debate, but it is the off season. A sampling is below.
