UCLA DC Hire: Chip Still Doesn't Get It
He came cheap. From Bruin Report Online Sources are indicating McGovern has agreed to a two-year contract worth about $900,000 over two years, or $450,000 annually. Outgoing defensive coordinator Jerry Azzinaro was paid $750,000 in 2021.

MBB: Sun Devils Scorch Ducks 81-57
Exactly. I used to be a much bigger fan of basketball than football. I cancelled the Pac-12 network years ago and now I seldom even watch the men's games. With only a couple exceptions every years starts with a bunch of strangers running around wearing Oregon uniforms, seldom functioning as a team. Maybe they cohere by years end (obviously not this year) but many will move on after the season. Rinse and repeat the following year. Basketball can be a thing of beauty. The Dillon Brooks and Sabrina teams were a joy to watch. Fluid movement and comradery on both ends of the court. Not the 2021-22 men's unit, I turned it off at halftime.

Welcome to the world of the portal. No connection, no cohesion and often not many fans at the game.

"Gameday" Looks like Corso will have more Chances to Pick the Ducks
Look for UCLA to take a big step back. Their top edge rusher just became the 15th player to enter the portal since the end of the season. Nine defensive starters have exhausted eligibility or transferred.

Verbal: Men's Hoops Adds JC Guard
Late bloomer? Listed as a freshman so must have been a qualifier out of high school. Only started seven games. Team had four players average double figures, all clustered together at 13 ppg, two at 11.1 and 10.8. Roughly the same playing time as most starters at about 23 minutes a game. Team ended 24-4. Stats

Five Star AND His Brother (Lebbeus and Micaiah Overton) Visit in March
Copy of my post in another thread Abbreviated version from NCAA website, dated October 6, 2021 The Division I Council this week approved a one-year waiver of the annual signing limit and initial scholarship limits in football to allow schools to replace up to seven scholarship student-athletes who leave school after the first term... The waiver addresses concerns about potentially high numbers of college athletes transferring after all student-athletes were given the opportunity to compete immediately after transferring for the first time. It will apply at the end of the first term (students who depart on or after the earlier of the last day of the school's fall term or Dec. 15, 2021, which is the first day of the early National Letter of Intent signing period)... The waiver is effective immediately for the 2022-23 academic year only. The overall scholarship limit remains at 85 for the FBS and FCS. And, in the FCS, the limit of 63 scholarship equivalencies also remains in place. https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2021-10-06/di-council-approves-one-year-waiver-football-scholarship-limits

Would probably be uncomfortable for all involved and I'm not sure it serves any purpose.

Five Star AND His Brother (Lebbeus and Micaiah Overton) Visit in March
Interesting move with limited scholarships available. They got the older brother of 2024 #1 edge Elijah Rushing to walk on. Is Lebbeus Overton really worth two full rides? https://www.si.com/college/oregon/recruiting/oregon-offers-liberty-transfer-dl-micaiah-overton

Five Star AND His Brother (Lebbeus and Micaiah Overton) Visit in March
Perhaps, but that kind of preferential treatment could easily lead to a totally dysfunctional team. Out of state tuition and fees is slightly more than $40,000. Add in books and the other expenses you mentioned suddenly it is over $75,000 for a warm body that, based on his career to date, probably won't see the field.

Five Star AND His Brother (Lebbeus and Micaiah Overton) Visit in March
I wonder if the brother is expecting a scholarship? Looking at the Liberty Flames site he hasn't recorded a stat in his three years on the team. No information if he got in a game last season but he didn't play during his first two years (one redshirt).

And now he adds a quarterback coach. On paper I can understand Canes fans being deliriously happy.

Arlis Boardingham Announcement? NOT Coming to Oregon

Mario Got His OC
Reading twitter replies it seems Gattis might have expected a promotion to HC if Harbaugh headed to the NFL. Anyway he became very unhappy with the Michigan administration and allegedly expressed his displeasure to the team. Interesting replies to the tweet below.

Mario Got His OC
Wasn't Leavitt fired after his first year under Mario? Avalos, Moorhead and Arroyo were all two seasons I believe. Something like 90% of D-1 head coaches don't last six years so tenure among assistants will be even less.

Mario Got His OC
Stats for last year look similar. Michigan Rushing attempts 575 for 3001 yards Passing attempts 395 for 3202 yards Oregon Rushing attempts 535 for 2833 yards Passing attempts 410 for 3098 yards

Former Duck/Cane-Coach McClendon: "Receivers Should Avoid Miami"
One recurring theme I noticed while watching the coaches interviews. Several mentioned they inherited talented, high character guys that got along and were supportive of each other when they broke into position groups. Fixing X and O deficiencies is a lot easier than needing to repair cultural problems. Mario deserves credit for what the new staff has to work with.
