Any word on what press access will be for practice?

Canzano Leaves Oregonian
I wonder what happened behind the scenes. A remarkably terse statement that a nationally known twenty year employee has already left implies friction somewhere. Inquiring minds want to know.

Red Flags are Flying on Kayvon Thibodeaux
No question his future earnings will probably be negatively impacted, the question is does it matter to him and what he wants out of life? Decades ago I worked for a Fortune 100 company with an office in Eugene. With the office scheduled for closure I was offered a traveling auditor position (I'm an operations guy) which would have led to basically writing my own ticket after a couple years on the road. I declined and have never regretted that decision for a moment. True, my retirement is a fraction of what it could have been but I'm content and comfortable. My impression is KT has aspirations beyond football, that it is just a means to an end. I hope at the end of the day he considers himself successful.

Red Flags are Flying on Kayvon Thibodeaux
Does he really? Reportedly he made well into six figures from NIL this past year. A top 20 draft pick will get him another $12+ million. Even if he washes out he walks away (pain free) with a sizable bank account and most of his brain cells still intact.

Wow...Dana Said WHAT?
Maybe when your background is promoting women's tennis a network with 10-15 million subscribers is deemed a smash hit. Probably good enough to think you should be paid millions per year while you spend your days in an expensive office patting yourself on the back. I'm not sure the stain of Larry Scott can ever be completely erased.

Moorhead Took a Massive Pay Cut to Leave Oregon.
Interesting move. Akron: Sources tell FootballScoop Tim Tibesar is expected to be named defensive coordinator at Akron. Tibesar served as defensive coordinator at Oregon State the past four seasons. Pete Thamel has reported the same.

5 Questions for Ducks Football Heading Into the 2022 Season.
Don't both Bo Nix and Jay Butterfield have an extra year due to covid? Nix would potentially have two years, Butterfield and Thompson each have three.

Mens Basketball: Should They Accept an NIT Bid?
Perhaps a better question is why would the NIT invite Oregon?

MBB: WSU has a Great Seniors Day, Routs Oregon 94-74
Not watching the game but I checked the box score, down 20, less than 5 minutes to go, and only eight players have stats? I understand Richardson is out but 14 players have logged minutes this year. Shades of Mario, don't play the reserves. Five players haven't seen the floor this game---why?

Graves: "I Did a Terrible Job of Coaching"
I can't be sure but I think Kelly Graves is upset with the officials. Random quotes from the article... Obviously lost my cool late. I can't comment, of course, on the reasons why because some people are protected. I didn't say anything. Didn't say a thing. There you go. That gets you a T these days. Well, you and I can talk off the record. I, of course, can't say anything because of the rules. So I can't say anything. But you and I, we live in the same hometown. We can have a beer sometime and talk about it. You watched the game. I guess I gestured in the wrong way, breathed in the wrong way, something to that extent. And they made us pay. They got the -- I think the 3 from the 3-point shot. They made all those. One of the technicals. And then their basketball.

Bill Walton: Where do YOU Stand?
Absolutely!

MBB: WSU has a Great Seniors Day, Routs Oregon 94-74
No, this group is not enjoyable to watch. Maybe next year there will be a team.
-
Mens Basketball: Should They Accept an NIT Bid?
As much as I would like to see the underclassmen get minutes I think accepting post season and then benching the starters is probably bad for team moral and chemistry.
-
Bill Walton: Where do YOU Stand?
We may have missed Ronnie Lee dunks but we gained seeing Ronnie Lee blocking breakaway lay ins. It was a thing of beauty, perfectly timed as he swatted the ball just as it left the shooters hand but before it hit the backboard.

Wikipedia says Onterrio Smith, Ex-Great Duck and Minnesota Viking RB is Worth $300M
Google has lots of sites which give a net worth. I assume most of them are wild guesses but the general consensus for Onterrio is $1-$5 million which seems plausible.

Lanning: "I Want to Experience Eugene"
Plus 20 non-scholarship players, total allowed is 105.

MBB: USC 70 Oregon 69
Watched just a bit of the post game press availability. Altman looked and sounded like he wants this year to be over. I know I'm ready, this team is just not enjoyable to watch. How to they allow a guy shooting over 50% for the game to casually dribble the ball up court and shoot a wide game winner?

Chip Kelly: What do You See as UCLA's High/Low Water Mark in 2022?
Didn't realize that, thanks. Much is made of the fact CK's buyout went to zero this year but what would have been the financial consequences if they let him leave? Often assistants contracts are tied to the HC and they receive a buyout with changes at the top. Oregon reportedly paid nearly $15 million to the assistant coaches when Helfrich was fired, wonder what the total would have been for the Bruins? The schedule mentioned above should result in more wins than I originally thought but I think all three coordinator positions will be new hires, I know Don Pellum retired and I believe other assistants have left as well. Chip doesn't attract A-list candidates although he did Ken Norton back to coach LBs. With a weak staff I think your 7-5 season is fair prediction.

Keith Hayward: Leaving Cal and Headed to UNLV
Leaving former Oregon player Justin Wilcox to work with former Oregon OC Marcus Arroyo as defensive coordinator. Is joining a 2-16 third years coach a smart career choice? From Football Scoop UNLV: Cal outside linebackers coach Keith Heyward is expected to become the new defensive coordinator at UNLV, Bruce Feldman tweets this morning. We can confirm the hire. Heyward previously worked with UNLV head coach Marcus Arroyo at Oregon, where Heyward served as co-defensive coordinator.

NIL, NFT: Is This What It's All About Now?
I'm still waiting to see the tax consequences of all this. Scholarship money isn't subject to federal tax for students in degree programs. I assume the o-lineman at TAMU can no longer be considered a dependent on his parents return. Is tax withheld? FICA? Do they get a W-2? A 1099? Wouldn't it make sense to have answers before we give a 19 year old a wad of cash?
