The race for a top recruiting class is fun but does it really matter? Signing day is well after the regular season is over. If the Ducks take care of business and plant their flag at the top of the BIG year one, I’m sure there will be wave of flips our way.

I remember when Lanning first got here. He watched the Super Bowl with the team. They said he was mostly accurate in predicting the plays based on formation all throughout the game. That’s from observing Super Bowl level schemes and game plans. What Lanning could figure out going against predictable BIG game plans could be mind boggling. Oregon was top ten in giving up only 17 points a game last year. I believe they also faced five or six of the top ten passing teams last year as well (including Hawaii). Scores in the 45-6 range may be a real possibility this year. Great article. Can’t wait for the season to begin.

O hell yes! Finally an Oregon uniform that screams OREGON!

Bummer. I’m wondering how to react. Should I: A. Blame LSU’s NIL like a SUC fan? B. Say we didn’t want him anyway like a fusky fan? C. Say oh well can’t win them all. On to the next 4/5 star like a Duck fan.

The only thing that makes sense to me is if the pac 2 are waiting for Cal and Furd to come back after the ACC implodes. After that add Tulane, SMU, SD St and maybe UNLV and hope someone like UCLA or Utah or ASU comes back. Seems like too many ifs to hang your hat on. I think they should just join the Mountain West and move on.

I think Kirby would rather see the top talent go way out west rather than to his SEC competition if he can’t get them himself. He is Smart after all.

Brooks started coaching the Ducks in 77 so I'd give him a pass for what happened in 74 and 75. Also there is no UO recruiting machine like it is today without DAT. Just ask every 4 and 5 star that has put on the uniform since then.

I don’t think the BIG schedules FCS opponents but they have allowed the new comers to keep pre scheduled games in place. I could see future schedules involving OSU, a G5, and a former PAC foe. That would work for me.

I honestly feel that the PAC hands out a brandy snifter, smoking jacket and monopoly man monocle to their new commissioners and say “ This is how we do things here.” There is just no other explanation as to how two commissioners could be so unbelievably out of touch with where college sports were heading and what it takes to remain competitive.

After the PAC imploded I still wished them well. I thought Cal and Furd should have stuck around. Then bringing in SD St and SMU would have been a no brainer. After that, go get Tulane and maybe Boise St and Fresno St and you have a legit conference that can maybe hold on to P5 status. But what’s happened instead is just a joke.Cal and Furd moving to the ACC for peanuts is just ridiculous and looks like the panic move that it was. Since blowing bringing in Texas and OU, every decision the PAC has made has been a disaster. OSU and WSU should just join the Mountain West where they belong and be done with this circus.

Don’t sweat it SoGaDawg. UGA’s offense knew the Ducks defense better than the Ducks at that time. Lanning was also stuck with the D roster that Mario left behind that was near last in the country in 3rd down stops and several stats. It was a great game for him to get some game tape and see what he had to work with. Was also great for the players to see what the heart of a champion really looks like.

Bringing the SEC out west is a cute little phrase until it actually happens. Watch out cause here we come.

The day I heard about the tragic news, I rewatched highlights of many of the UO wins last year. Most of the key defensive plays seemed to either directly or indirectly involve Khyree. What a tragic loss.

There is no way to regulate NIL on anybody. Michael Jordan may run into a salary cap in the NBA but not from Nike, Hanes or any of his endorsement deals. If Big Joe’s Used Trucks in Texas wants to go pay some kid in high school $5,000,000 a year to stand in his lot in Austin and just give the hook ‘em horns sign, there is no stopping that. Is it a wise investment? Probably not but that doesn’t matter. NIL is just the free market doing what it does. We as fans may have gotten spoiled by the school loyalty of the past but this new system is far more fair to the kids whose blood sweat and tears drive the college sports machine.

Hope they flash a SUC fan quote on the scoreboard after every Duck touchdown during the beat down next year.
