  1. Nick Saban on the Lanning call: "Can't fault a coach for taking advantage of rules." Coach Saban tells it like it is... and he's a big Lanning fan.
  2. I'm gonna go with 'just win them all.' That's my plan and I'm sticking with it.
  3. From SI: "The Ducks' defense led the way, earning the first shutout since 2012, and the first road shutout since the 1992 season."
  4. Wow... UCLA is leading Rutgers 7-0 in the first quarter. Exciting times for Bruins fans!
  5. Well done, Autzen Magic. I can't believe anyone called 38-3, especially after Purdue put up 49 points against a Top-25 team the week before. But clearly you saw something to make that most excellent call. And Reggie Ogburn... that's a name I haven't heard in a while. He sure was a fun, exciting and talented option Duck QB.
  6. It would be fun if we get the chance to play OSU again... once OBD are really fine-tuned and we are playing peak ball.
  7. I keep forgetting about the playoff and how that changes everything. But I like the idea of over 12 games. Bottom line is that this defense is nails.
  8. And, upon further review, 2018 (231 pts / 14 games = 16.5). So this year's team defense is currently tied with 2023 & 2018 for average fewest points allowed per game over the past 50 years. Here's to hoping that they break the record.
  9. So far, through 7 games, Oregon’s amazing defense is giving up an average of 16.6 points per game. If I did my math right, over the last 50 years, no Duck defense has allowed so few points per game.
  10. As Charles said, I'm not sure that's gonna age very well. 😆
  11. Exactly. Seemed like they really didn't want to give him a TD.
  12. I love Idaho. It's a stunningly beautiful state. I always hoped to bump into Carole King up around Stanley, but never had such great luck I feel bad for the long timers that Idaho has finally been discovered. Oh yeah... and GO DUCKS!
  13. Such an excellent article, Sir Fishduck. The upside potential for this team appears to be just staggering. When we look at the growth from August 31st, to present, it's pretty jaw-dropping to me. But then too recognize the additional potential just waiting to take off... well, be still my heart.
  14. I'm rooting for DG, of course. But a part of me is also rooting for Jeanty. Hey... I shouldn't be, but I'm a bit torn.
  15. Obviously, we hope that both guys are okay and recover soon. That nasty cheap shot that Ferg took at UCLA a few week ago was downright scary. I'm still concerned for him.
  16. I keep thinking of UCLA Coach Gene Bartow, 1976, after playing at Mac Court. For those who never had the joy of experiencing a game there, back in the day, the entire place literally bounced and rocked up and down... including the massive scoreboard over center court. More than one player was nervous to run under it. But after this game, Gene Bartow called the Duck fans: "Deranged Idiots." We were all quite certain that Coach Bartow meant it as a compliment 😄 And from everything I've heard, Autzen rocked like that last Saturday night. Well done, Duck fans!
  17. This is a tricky. Purdue gets trashed two weeks ago by a somewhat better than average Wisconsin team, while Purdue only put up 6 points. Then last week Purdue takes what appears to be a pretty decent Illinois team to overtime while putting up 49 points. (Maybe Purdue got some studs back). Plus, we're traveling 3,000 miles after coming off one of the biggest wins in school history. So... all that just to say: OBD 40-14 3 4 320
  18. Sorry everyone. My understanding of when they apply the penalty was wrong. The penalty is applied from where the ball is kicked, and not after they receive the ball. But I really liked my completely incorrect understanding "It Ain’t What You Don’t Know That Gets You Into Trouble. It’s What You Know for Sure That Just Ain’t So" - Mark Twain
  19. Well, I liked my theory... until you just pointed out that my penalty understanding 100% wrong. Thanks for setting me straight. So, Lanning's call here really took some huge coconuts.
  20. Tough one for me, but I've gotta go with the hometown Eugene boy. But either way, Ducks win! And best of luck to both of them today.
  21. Just a side note, but I believe Oregon is the only team that has two wins against teams currently ranked in the Top-20 (or Top-15, for that matter). And I do not anticipate either BSU or OSU falling out of the Top 20. In fact, by the end of the season, both BSU & OSU could be ranked Top 10. I just knew that BSU win from five weeks ago would pay off in dividends. /s 😉
  22. Those are some exceptionally whiny, sore loser, tOSU fans out there.
