What an impressive response to a tough loss last week.

I was around at that time as well. He was such a fine QB at Oregon and had a great NFL career as well. But he took too many damaging hits.

Under the trivia category, we've had two stud NFL QBs come out of Eugene's Sheldon High School. No pressure, Brock.

Dante 14/18. 279 yards. 4 TDs. At the half. Amazing. What a fabulous turnaround from last week.

This Was Posted Somewhere from Jedd Fisch's Wife
Oh-so very true. My first Oregon game was as a kid at Autzen. Huskies 66 Ducks 0 Frankly, it took 2+ longgg decades, along with a lot of therapy, to get over that start to 'My Life as a Duck.'

Cignetti Signs New 8 Year Contract at 11.6 Million per Year...With Indiana
So, I say that if we're not getting the coach fired, we might as well help him get a $100 million contract. Cig should be sending flowers and chocolates to Oregon right now. I'm thinking that the timing of his Oregon win was worth at least an extra $15 million 😉

Things We Can Learn - Concerns About the 4th Quarter Performance...
Against the only two 'real' teams we have played -- IU & PSU, our 3rd down conversion rate has been atrocious. Against these two schools, we only converted on third down 28% of the time. And although our fourth down conversion rate is an impressive 73% (8/11), it's just a dangerous way of living and typically not sustainable. We seem to be getting ourselves in a hole on first down way too often. Hopefully, this changes starting tomorrow.

Cignetti Signs New 8 Year Contract at 11.6 Million per Year...With Indiana
From 1995-2023, IU had 3 barely winning seasons. Since Cig in 2024, he will have them in the CFP two straight years in a row. $93 million over 8 years is a lot of dough, but not if he can keep them winning. And although history does not guarantee future results (we longtime Duck fans can attest to this), given their program history, along with the fact that I don't think they have a Phil Knight in their back pocket... Along with the fact that IU is on the hook for the full balance of his contract if they fire him without cause (and losing is not 'cause')... This seems risky to me... but everything has a degree of risk. Bottom line for me is if I was in IU's situation, I would have made the same offer. IMHO, prior to the new contract, Cig was just too damn poachable to not lock down.

Sometimes Losing Is Winning
but if the Ducks come out flat against Rutgers I'm going to be a bit concerned. If they come out flat on Saturday, I will be more than just a bit concerned. I need to see them come out with some US Forces like shock-n-awe, and some Ricky Bobbie shake-n-bake 😄.

Lanning: Little Bit Softer Now, Little Bit Louder Now…
Nothing quite like a mid-season kick in the teeth to help a team recalibrate. But hey, that IU team looks like the real deal... very impressive. Nevertheless, with some corrections and improvement (both players and coaches), which OBD is totally capable of, we can absolutely beat those guys. Regarding Rutgers, although I haven't followed them closely, I did notice that the three losses they had were all by an average of about 7 points. On paper anyway, they look like they could be competitive. So this looks like it could be a great follow-up game to a loss, on the road, allowing us to find out who we really are. And I'm very glad that we don't have a 9:30 AM PST start. Playing Northwestern at that time was just utterly ridiculous.

2025-26 College Football Playoff - How Much Will Strength of Schedule and Record Matter?
Thanks for this excellent information. Looking good, Billy Ray! Feeling good, Louis!

James Franklin is Out at Penn State
According to CBS Sports, the buyout on PSUs side is $58 million. The buyout on Franklin's side is $1.00. As in, one-dollar. If I was a coach, I would be looking to hire Franklin's agent right now.

AP Poll - Week 7
IU definitely deserves it the #3 spot. I'm pleasantly surprised that we only fell to #8.

Franklin to Oregon State?

Bray Out at Oregon State
Rumors out there are saying Franklin is heading west to Oregon State. 😆😅 This comment is based upon totally, unsubstantiated, absolutely anonymous, sources. 😉

Silver Lining to Hoosier Defeat?
The buyout on Franklin's side was $1. PSU is totally eating this entire enchilada.

James Franklin is Out at Penn State
Yikes... barely two weeks ago Franklin had the #2 team in the nation. And now, Franklin's former team thinks he stinks so badly that they were willing to drop about $60 million just to get rid of him. It tells me how massive the amount of money is that comes through college football, and what a wonderful merit-based system sports are.

Whoa! Did You Hear That Massive THUD Out There?
My bet is that the game will mentally start slowing slowing down for Moore and that very soon, he will begin picking blitzing defenses apart. He's just too bright and athletic for that not to happen. I'm betting that within a couple weeks, he will begin feasting on the blitz.
-
Silver Lining to Hoosier Defeat?
The cost to replace Franklin right now is $56 Million Dollars. After the season is over it would be $48 Million. That's a load of scratch to fundraise in order to dump a guy. I would imagine that the PSU fans who want him gone are hoping/wishing/praying that he finds another gig on his own --- which seems like a long shot to me.
