  1. Maybe that TD is a picture of things to come... hopefully for both of them.
  2. He was a bit before my time, and I hate to admit it, I don't recall his name. But averaging 17 boards a game in your senior season is off the charts insane. And to win 7 NBA championships is one amazing run. I had to look him up and what a career. He also averaged 20 ppg his senior year, still holds the Oregon record for most rebounds in a single game with 32 (nearly 70 years later), and was the #3 pick in the draft. I'm embarrassed that I didn't know who he was.
  3. How awesome is that! What a great story. Thanks for sharing it.
  4. Years ago, I loved the NBA. But, IMHO, it is now a rather crap product. I haven't really followed it for years now. Why Oregon would choose to emulate that product is beyond me.
  5. Thanks for sharing this. It is such a phenomenal memory. I was in 6th grade at the time and we had a basketball game that afternoon. I can't remember if we won our game or not, but I do remember us all tearing out of the gymnasium, jumping into the cars, and everyone turning on the radio just in time to catch the last 4 minutes of the game. We all went a bit nuts when we won that game. And then, the icing on top, was a week later the Sports Illustrated cover coming out. Our little corner of the world almost never got any national press so this was a big deal.
  6. I had finally purged that evil play from my memory. Thanks for bringing back my PTSD 😉
  7. Absolutely. Gene Bartow was the coach who followed John Wooden at UCLA. After playing at Mac Court, he was quoted as calling the fans "Deranged Idiots." Naturally, we all took it as a compliment. Pins and t-shirts were made up with that quote and sold like hotcakes. The very large Romania Chevrolet scoreboard over Center Court, as you probably recall, would literally bounce up and down and ball players were understandably intimidated to go under it. Wow... talk about a lot of great memories there.
  8. Don't like the floor. Never have. And at Mac Court, the fans were right on top of the floor... and on top of the opposing players. It was like the Autzen version of a basketball court. Sadly, it's almost like they deliberately built MKA to lose all the magic of Mac Court.
  9. Two losses, and both at home. Although given that Matt Court seems like it's rarely more than about half full, I'm not so sure it's a tremendous home court advantage.
  10. Although Oregon was ridiculously not prepared to play last week, I would have much rather had a shot at this OSU team, rather than the one we played last week.
  11. After getting the crapola kicked out of them by Illinois, and then barely beating unranked maryland, you just don't know what to expect from these guys. So this road win over a strong OSU team is pretty huge. Hopefully they will continue to gel together as we head into the meat of the season.
  12. Well... getting out butts kicked by 32 points AT HOME was not exactly what I was looking for or expecting. I give up. I'm done.
  13. Not a chance in a million he bagged the game.
  14. Yes... I see next to no value in the conference championship game --- except it's a way for the league to make more benjamins.
  15. I think we're all hoping for an all Big 10 final around these here parts. And that way, we Ducks might be able to say that we're the only team that beat both finalists. I'd find a modicum of solace in that.
  16. We lost to Washington 34-31. Not sure many would call that a blow out.
  17. I like the part where after 3 seasons, he only has 6 losses... 35-6. He's winning at an 85% rate. That's almost as good as Chip Kelly's 86.8%.
  18. After watching Texas play yesterday, I can't believe the line is only OSU -4.5. I almost always believe the betting line is going to be pretty close, because it is. But I feel like those guys were watching a different Texas game yesterday than I did. ASU made more mistakes in that game than you can shake a stick at, and yet they nearly won. I say OSU -17... and it could get a lot more ugly than that.
  19. The 2010-11 loss to Auburn, and the the 2014-15 to OSU, are the ones that gutted me. But of the two, the Auburn game was the worst. I felt kinda sick for about 4 days. And that game only made it worse because I was there. After those losses, I put this stuff a bit more in perspective. So while this loss yesterday sucks profusely, I'm thankful that it doesn't impact me anywhere near like it once did.
  20. I'd suggest it seems that way, for the simple fact that it was that way. I don't think we need to pretend otherwise. It was just simply one horrific game across the board and our coaches did not have the kids prepared. But let's not forget that this game was also preceded by 13 other games that were pretty damn good.
