*GASP* Sour Grapes From Husky Fans?
It's a weekday, January 2nd, bowl this year. As long as the Rose & Orange Bowl are part of the CFP, they'll be a big deal in those years. Otherwise, they'll primarily just have a nice history.

- Eugene average annual rainfall 46 inches - Seattle average annual rainfall 37 inches - Eugene average annual number of days with precipitation 151 - Seattle average annual number of days with precipitation 152 Seattle sucks, but from a weather standpoint, both are wet & gray. Per capita number of pompous schmucks: Unknown. But anecdotally, I'd have to agree that Seattle wins this category by a seemingly wide margin.

I'm a Duck alum and I cant stand the Huskies as much as the next guy. But academically, Oregon does not compete with UW. But as far as a classic "College Town," Eugene and "Faber University" absolutely win.

What's "major" about the Rose Bowl these days? Unless it's a year when they're part of the College Football Playoffs, I'm sad to say that today, it's pretty much just another one of 41 bowl games.

5-Star Safety Peyton Bowen Committed to Oregon on Wednesday, but Snags Develop...
All I can say is that OU better have this kids signature in blue ink, on paper -- or it might be, "Hello Longhorns" by tomorrow.

Looks like Peyton is a lock for "Triple Committed": Notre Dame > Oregon > Oklahoma And if he hasn't actually signed with OU yet, maybe Texas might get in on the action before its all done.

Quaaack!: 4-Star WR 2024 Commit...Jordan Anderson is a Duck
I love these verbitments (verbal commitment). I'll really like it, though, when they sign on the line.

Peyton and his 5 stars would be warmly received in Norman.

Absolutely. Great comment. And I didn't realize that they live in Denton. That's an easy Portland-to-Eugene-ish type drive.

In the immortal words of Bob Sugar: "It's not 'show friends.' It's 'show business.'" With NIL, this is more true than ever. "Show me the money"

I've had Global Entry for 10 years. But I'm also realistic regarding travel time, delays, etc. But $85 for 5 years of PreCheck is not a barrier for anyone. And yes, travel time to S Bend v Eugene is about the same. This situation seems to be rooted in one currently confused family not being remotely on the same page. I have just on word for them: Go-Ducks (okay... admittedly that's more like 1.5 words, or so).

3 1/2 hour drive Dallas to Norman. The non stop on Alaska or American is about 4 hours. Then you have to add for drive time to DFW -- could easily be +1 hour. Then you'd want to arrive about an hour before your flight = + 1 more hour. Then when you get to Eugene, add 30 minutes to pick your rental car. So, all-in-all, it's an easy 7 hour trip. Plus, flying these days usually sucks. Plus, being crammed in a can with another 180 people or so is never fun, especially with all the viruses making the rounds. But he still should have chosen Oregon.

Portal Transfers Relative to Other Schools
Anyone know if someone is tracking the number of portal transfers by school? I'm quite certain it's being done, but I can't find it. I'm curious how Oregon compares to other Top-25 programs.

Verbitment
Obviously you are correct. I remember reading an article that said something like 85+% of verbal commitments do follow through. When I was young in my career, I had my weekly meeting with my Manager and I told him I had a client verbal commitment. He said, "You mean verbitment." Fortunately, by far, most kids follow through. My comment above was meant to be more tongue-in-cheek than anything else.

Verbitment
When it come to college football recruiting today, I think it's time to stop using the terms "Commitment," and "Committed." Clearly, the world no longer understands what the root word "commit" means. I'd suggest we start using the term, "Verbitment" --- as in "Verbal Commitment." As in meaningless.

Perhaps A Very REAL Reason for So Many Oregon Transfers Leaving?
Does anyone out there have data yet regarding portal transfer numbers from all FBS schools? The general assumption being discussed here seems quite reasonable, but I'd really like to see transfer data for all FBS schools.

People are Pretty Selfish: Should I Continue the OBD Forum?
Thanks Charles for continuing with the project. Again, my apologies for copying and pasting a quote from the board last week that had a foul-mouth acronym. I truly did not think about it until I got your email. That won't happen again. Have a great weekend.

Are You Going to the Holiday Bowl?
I'm curious what the interest level is regarding Duck fans going to the Holiday Bowl. I'm wondering who around here is planning on going, might be going, or is not going. It's relatively close for us, which definitely helped make our decision to go. It should be an exciting game. Plus, it's San Diego.

Not to Get Weird on You Pennsylvania Duck, But...
I swore very little growing up, but when I did, I'd get my behind whomped by my single mom. But at about 13, I said, "No more of that." However, she then upped her game and in came financial punishment. And at age 16, the car keys came into play. Let's just that that swearing was pretty much eliminated from my vocabulary.

Oregon Names UTSA's Will Stein as Offensive Coordinator
Remove the Eastern Washington game and leave in the Geogia debacle, and he still averaged 37 points per game.
