Sleepy Ducks Oust Cougs in Autzen
Ryan, thank you for the article. But I think you've been a bit too harsh on the Duck's performance and the OC especially. There are solid reasons for most of the play calls, none of which were designed to make us the fans ... excited. As noted above, the Ducks almost lead the country in scoring. And you simply can't have 60-point offensive outputs every week. The desert air might be getting a little depressive down there in Sierra Vista lately. Irritability can come easily. I know, I've spent too much time there. I suggest heading over to the Huachucas for some javelina hunting in order to clear football frustrations.

I Will Have to Re-Think Things About This Team...
There seems to be a bit of an overreaction by some to the game and plays called or executed. Hindsight is always 20/20. Critique the play call when it's made. To do so after the game is playing to the hindsight business. If any of the plays challenged here would have worked ... we'd be cheering Lanning's boldness or the players' skills. I realize that fans will be fans through the good and the bad times. For sure the outcome of this game was mighty depressing. But keeping a measured balance within all of us would be wonderful to my old eyes and ears ... and to yours, I suspect.

I Will Have to Re-Think Things About This Team...
I have no complaints. The team played their hearts out. The coach was aggressive and there is no looking back. This game showed me that the boys played with a lot of grit ... getting a couple of bad non-calls from the refs and down a couple of DBs. Great game. We just ended up on the short end to a very good team. NEXT UP! GO DUCKS!!

Aydin Breland: Coming to Our City?
AMC, where did you see this about Aydin? Just last week DawgsWire, On3, and 247 all had him projected to Georgia.

Game Strategy - Receive Opening Kickoff or Defer to 2nd Half?
Bo said last week that the first 6 plays were scripted. I speculate that was from the OC looking to see what the Stanford defense had planned for certain play types. I obviously don't know if that is true, but it's something that I would try. If that is the case (and planned) for the fuskie game, the coin flip won't matter. If that speculation is ignored, I'd always choose to defend the opening kick.

Wowsa. Lanning Just Matched the Second-Best Recruiting Year EVER
Let's hope he can get into the 1st round NFL draft like Sauce did. He sure has great measurables.

Ducks Improve Historically in 2023
Thanks for the fine article, Ryan. I enjoy your writing. I'd just make one comment about the last word in it ... "respectable". The phrase was "... it is comforting to think that in only three short decades they have become, at the very worst, respectable." As it was italicized, I realize the word was intended to carry more meaning. But I'd like to add a modern era addendum and elucidate the phrase with "Since 2000, the Ducks have amassed a whopping 73%-win percentage." Further, these are the teams that were playing during the most important time when almost every Duck player/recruit has been alive. Yes, the Ducks have improved over time. But WOW have they ever. I don't know where that percentage lies with regards to teams such as Alabama (and their annual games against The Sisters of the Poor Univ. teams), but it's not far behind. By the way, Alabama also had a reasonably poor historical record prior to 2006.

How Tough Will The Dawg Game Be?
Home field to Mutts. Equal passing. Edge to Ducks on running. Larger edge to Ducks on defense. No sweat. Ducks by 14! If it rains a lot, Ducks splash by Mutts by 21. 😆 Have faith, mates.

No Travis Hunter This Week
My two broken ribs and the sequelae liver damage took 6 weeks before I was able to carry out normal tasks. (Included were 4 weeks of sleeping in a recliner chair.) Ouch. I, too, feel for the young man. I hope he has a brilliant football career.

No Travis Hunter This Week
It was certainly an unnecessary hit. The YouTube doc didn't notice the awkward landing of the knee. There looks to be possible tendon damage. Also, having suffered broken ribs and organ damage in a similar fashion, that hit under the pads on the right side appear to be a possible problem for Hunter.

Oregon’s Defensive Front Shows Its Potential Against Texas Tech
I just re-watched the game. David is completely correct. The TT o-line was holding like crazy. (Great article, David.) There were a number of other instances where officiating was .... Oh wait, Charles would boot me if I say what I think about that. So, I'll leave it at ... "It's early in the season. They'll get better." I hope. I too was encouraged by the d-line performance. They could be among the best we've seen since the Nick Reed days. (Of course, Nick and d-line friends were aided on the back side by the likes of Chung, Ward, Byrd, Thurmond, Matthews, and Paysinger.
