SMU vs. Penn State GameDay Discussion
Putting up the Christmas tree while watching SMU v PSU, so I'm not really being distracted much. PSU and Abdul Carter have done to SMU what they could only dream about doing to Oregon in the B1G CG. The Mustang qb has made more bad decisions than Custer at Little Bighorn, the O-line has more holes than a Swiss cheese sandwich and I've yet to see anything resembling presnap motion or misdirection. This game almost, but not quite makes me think Bama and DeBoer should have been in the CFP. Almost.

Oregon Football: Ohio State vs Tennessee Score Predictions
Tosu 24-13 Tennessee not used to that kind of cold. Iamaleava gets picked off at least once by Downs, et al and Bucknut O-line does just enough to keep the offense alive. Day lives to fight another day but Day will yield to Knight and DL on New Years Day in LA.

QUAAAAACK! Transfer DL Bear Alexander Commits to Oregon!
We'll, there ya go. He's now a Duck.

GameDay Thread of Notre Dame vs. Indiana!
Indiana being outplayed on both sides. This could be an ugly blowout. Someone will expose ND but I'd be salivating over the remote chance that OBD would face these guys in the NC game

QUAAAAACK! Transfer DL Bear Alexander Commits to Oregon!
Doesn't DL have one too? I think it's a life journey thing.

QUAAAAACK! Transfer DL Bear Alexander Commits to Oregon!
ON3 now predicting Alexander to OBD. The optics of his departure from U$C looked bad at the time but the subsequent Trojenz fire sale to the portal perhaps puts it in perspective. If DL and Tosh feel that he can fit the culture, then that is the way it is.

Dallas Wilson Flip to Florida
Wish this young man the best regardless of the circumstances. Tampa Bay to Eugene is a long haul for a 17-18 year old particularly if there are family issues. This may also be the harbinger of someone planning to stay an additional year (E Stewart) or a portal addition at the WR position such as U$C transfers Duce Robinson and Z. Branch. Remember too that 5☆ Gatlin Bair joins the team in 2026 once his LDS mission is complete. The 2025 recruiting rankings take a hit, but OBD would still be in the top 7 or 8 and should remain loaded at the WR position.

Transfer Portal Interests for Ducks (2)
There is a narrative that the broken promises involve unfulfilled NIL payments. It could explain the loss of high profile and productive players. If that is the case the details will ultimately leak out. Riley's willingness to throw his players under the T-Bird can't help. Regardless, Oregon will be in a great position to pick up a prized position or two.

2024-25 Ducks Players Entering the Transfer Portal
Oregon Ducks Transfer Portal: Emar’rion Winston announces transfer DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Oregon Ducks EDGE Emar’rion Winston announced that he intends to enter the transfer... Sorry to see this as he had played well on the two deep. There is just so much talent at edge with more coming in that you can't blame the young man for wanting to go somewhere that he can be a starter. Best of luck to him

Okay, This is Beyond PAW-THETIC!
Yep, time to swill back some SEC cougar juice

Transfer Portal Interests for Ducks
Just reported that TE/WR Duce Robinson at U$C has entered the portal. He had OBD on his final list before committing to the Trojenz. 5 stars out of HS. Got to believe that DL/WS will have some interest here.. Duce had a solid year in LA with 396 yds on 23 receptions. Also plays baseball. At 6'6" 225 he could easily add 15# to be a solid TE along with Sadiq.

What's the Future for Dante Moore at Oregon?
My money is that Moore will be ready by next spring. Of course, the addition of a QB in the portal would change that bet but I don't see that happening. Moore was the #2 QB recruit and #3 overall in 2022 (after Manning, who I'd argue was no better). His HS film was self explanatory. The disappointment was real when he decommitted from Oregon. His freshman season at UCLA was grim given the awful O-line he was behind and Chip's less than stellar developmen, but he still logged some highlight moments. The problem at UCLA was coaching, the speed of the P5 college game, issues with rapid processing and reading defenses and coverages. He has now spent a year developing under WS and DG. He has incredible arm strength and touch on his throws. If you want to be reminded of his raw talent and grit, watch the highlights from the 2022 All-American HS game. Novosad played in the same game on the opposing team and the contrast was stark. Novosad has the advantage of an additional year in the program but i believe Moore has caught up and has superior skills.

B1G Championship GameDay Thread versus Penn State: Join Us!
Man, Tez gave a little hesitation, DG stared the safety inside, he bit and Tez was wide open.

B1G Championship GameDay Thread versus Penn State: Join Us!
PSU has cleaned up the penalties and that has helped them. #11 is the real deal and even Conerly is having a problem with him. PSU very aggressive at the LOS and Oregon having the best results with misdirection on offense. Time to dial up more creative defensive schemes

B1G Championship GameDay Thread versus Penn State: Join Us!
Let's not lose sight of the fact that Oregon got points before the half and that adjustments will be made. Allar is getting the time he has and avoiding pass rush on part because he is dropping 10yds. There will be something that OBD sees that can be utilized in the 3rd qtr. BTW, thank heaven for Tez.

B1G Championship GameDay Thread versus Penn State: Join Us!
PSU has the momentum now and their sideline to sideline play calling is getting the better of OBD. No pressure on Allar is starting to take a toll

Who Will Be Better? Dilly or Stein?
Maybe the bigger question is whether WS stays put with OBD next season. I agree that he is not yet ready for his own program (though I was of this opinion two years ago about Dilly. Wrong on that). With the Ducks 2025 recruiting class and Dante Moore, he has an incredible offensive toy box for next year and I would think he wants to stick around and develop it.
-
Who Will Be Better? Dilly or Stein?
At this stage I think WS a slightly better and more innovative OC but Dilly proving his chops as a HC. It helps to have a Tasmanian devil whirling mass of dark matter named Skattebo, but Dilly has done an amazing job this year in Tempe.

GameDay Discussion of Big-12 Championship Game!
That was a brutal hit that knocked the Iowa St QB briefly out of the game. ASU #7 out for targeting and he will miss the 1st half of whatever CFP game ASU goes to. They have demolished ISU and Skattebo is a human wrecking ball that belongs in NY in a couple weeks. If they get the 12 seed it will be against the 5 and we know what that means.

OBD Prediction Contest for the B1G Championship Game: Join the Fun!
Oregon 24-20 1 TO 3 Sacks 235 yds passing Defense makes a big stop in the 4th qtr. Offense wears down a PSU defense that has played seven games in a row. DG gets a couple of 20+ yd explosion plays, but it's tight otherwise.

Oregon's "FATAL FLAW!"
Another little factoid on penalties was gleaned from Hythloday's film review this morning. PSU tends to be very aggressive on the snap count jump and gets called offsides more than any other B1G team, around twice a game. That creates free play opportunities and if extrapolated over the 12 game regular season, is 23 penalties and 115 yds. Now maybe that flaw isn't 'fatal' but it's something that DL and WS can exploit.
-
Oregon's "FATAL FLAW!"
Just the discrepancy in number of penalties with similar yards tells you something. Oregon has fewer yards per penalty than PSU, implying perhaps fewer big PI and personal foul calls opposed to false starts and holding. Those latter calls are mainly offensive and can be drive killers. Paradoxically they were more common early in the year and at Autzen rather than on the road. I'm sure that O-line discipline has been rigorously stressed in practice this week. To call this a 'fatal flaw' is pretty short sighted.

Oregon’s New Play: What the TV Analysts Missed…
Great analysis by Charles. The two videos clearly show DG reading the OLB/Edge, while at the same time the defender is reading DG and the mesh with the RB. Once the defender commits, the die is cast. Gabriel is quick enough to get outside the defender if they do crash, but the odds on bet is that they have been coached to stay put to keep #8 contained on the edge. I don't think Carter will be instructed otherwise. He might cheat inside a step and rely on his speed to make up the distance if DG keeps but would still get to the RB a half second late to prevent a positive play on the handoff. The GT C-Gap Read should be good for maybe two impactful positive runs tomorrow. I wonder if there is an RPO off this formation where the pulling LG and LT stay close to the LOS and DG drifts right for a quick slant or hook. Bravo!

Dan Lanning's Movie Reference Ahead of the Big Ten Championship Ruffles Feathers
It was a little bit out there but the bashed Fusky helmet was on topic and the Inglorious Basterds reference had the desired effect on the team. It's not like he shot a dog... images.mp4
