What Grade Should Lanning Receive So Far As Head Coach?
JDuck replied to HawaiiDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
New schemes and such, I think as long as we continue to see improvement, and we have, it's going to be good. Position coaches already seem to develop players better, not just recruit 4/5 star kids. That is HUGE -
If our coaches coach them up (think Belotti, Kelly, Helfrich eras) we can go far with 3 star players. Think of all the 2 and 3 stars who went NFL and even pro bowl level from those years. I'm thinking with continued success we'll see a lot more 4/5 star commits though.
-
If we win out including P12 CG, we'll probably make the playoffs. Lose 1 (but win P12 CG) it's Rose Bowl. The conference will eat itself up like everyone else, I just hope for a fuskie loss each week
-
USuC sucks, their lines will end them up at 8-4 again. If their QB gets injured, it'll be worse.

I wanna see the numbers on assistants leaving, mainly coordinators leaving for head coach jobs. I bet they'd do better staying, and if successful we should pay big bucks to keep them. Or, as Charles pointed out yesterday, they'll pay you big millions to go fails somewhere. Every big school has to deal with it though. Saban guys find success, but Saban finds new coordinators who continue to win. Hopefully Lanning will be a big apple under that tree.

Miami also took away our high octane pistol offensive offense -
I am Surprised at the Wolfing and Showboating...Are You?
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Celebrating after every play...ridiculous. Maybe a little after a TD, or sack that forces 4th and long, or a pick. Save the real celebration for a win. All those penalties = shame and no reason to celebrate every first down. They didn't even dance for SHOUT, maybe Lanning is on the right track, maybe shout is a good pump up in a close game, but coaching moments more important. Players do Shout when it's 48-7 going into the 4th quarter perhaps. I hope it changes. Interesting that Hutson, who was famously chewed out last year (appropriately so by MC) had the same talk from Lanning it looked like yesterday, though not so visibly ferocious. Hutson didn't learn? -
Did YOU Like Our Uniforms vs Stanford?
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Color combo and colors were great, green-green-yellow-yellow, the pajama cummerbund whatever was atrocious however. -
Crap 12 refs strike again, it will never change. Changing conferences is the only solution, FWIW

Washington State Could Determine the Conference Champion?
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think WSU is good and will give USuC and the Beevs problems. Utah? I hope they win in Pullman and we get a shot at 2 wins over the Utes in 13 days...payback. That 12-1 likely would make the playoff. The condoms will not even win the south. -
I see their lines finally folding and a couple losses. If their QB gets hurt they are done. I see us beating Utah twice in 13 days to win the Pac at 12-1. The condoms, I hope, get their first loss tonight in Cowvallis

Agree with all. Nix had just one throw I saw that gave me the willies. Coaches may have let up too early. Gave up too many passing yards, but open field tackling much improved over last couple weeks. Still not getting much pressure on opposing QBs...run game is great and run D are great. Noah hasn't looked like a Butkus favorite yet. Flowe still can get over the injury bug. Hoping those things change soon! Let's see some big pressure in Pullman and force bad throws and get at least 2 picks and 4 sacks. Go Ducks!

Is “Win Now” Culture a Problem For QBs?
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And Haywardduck has started a Ty thread...Cristbal's offensive "offense" and his assistant coaches see the players perform daily where we don't, and get paid millions to figure it out, as bad as MC was on offense they saw Brown as the better chance to win, the current staff see's Nix as the better chance to win. Recruiting rankings don't always mean as much as we would like to think, and reading defenses at the D1 level does not seem to be a strength for Ty, not yet at least. So...transfers to "win now" is that good? No, the portal and NIL are ruining college sports. Not developing your recruits is bad too, but what if the 5 star doesn't pan out? -
Rankings prior to 5 weeks in are stupid and pointless.
-
I don't know about that, Lanning has the right culture attitude, and we will recruit really really well. We all hoped for playoff berth in year 1...give 2-3 years and winning playoff games could be a reality. As we enter the 4th quarter, at least our uniforms are really cool and have school colors. Low and slow, you must fly a sky crane I guess I'm 140-300 kts 2500 AGL...somewhere in the middle?
-
Feels a lot like recent years...false starts, dumb penalties, really poor tackling, can't throw more than 4 yards down the field. The tackling part is really surprising with Lanning and company on board. Nix...still makes bad throws against good opponents. It's time to build for the future with Thompson/Butterfield.

UNLV Offense Looking Sweet Under Arroyo
JDuck replied to Coach Eric Boles's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Arroyo had to get out from under the oppression too, prove he can run an offense if Mari and the pistol plunge weren't handcuffing him. Be interesting to see if that hyped MiamiU QB has a noticeable downturn this year. Canes, 7-5. -
Best stiff-arm ever! 65-38 final score. Go Ducks!

Alani Noa Commits to USC...Ducks Have No OL Commits in 2023
JDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
O Line...and D Line, are not USuCk's strengths...stronger at the skill positions, but waiting to see how they do with weak lines. 8-4 is my prediction. A bunch of 3 star linemen will bite in the end, as we continue to get 4's, and even some 5's. -

Lots of time...just watch how well we do, we'll land or flip a 5 star OT and a 5 star Guard by early December -
Oregon's Unique Weakness for the 2022 Season
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agreed. E(SEC)PN only sees the surface. We have a LOADED running back room with a ton of talent, and really good coaches...we'll be fine this season running. I agree Sir Charles, will pass protection improve? -

Most Games with 200+ Yds Rushing, Passing Since 2010
JDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Masoli's last season was "09, so...NONE. Daron Thomas lead us to the NC against Auburn in 2010, 2011, Marcus was '12-'14. I bet a of those games in the tally were those early years, and '15 with Vernon Adams. Anybody know who was #1 on this list NATIONALLY? -
