NIL and the Portal are problems. Unlimited officials will be too. What about, a kid gets 10, a school gets 112? Lanning hinted at the loss of time with their families for coaches. Those guys all work insane hours as it is, but those 5* kids from SEC country, this is the way to get more of them to Eugene. Some may just want to see the world's best facilities, but some will see Oregon as a legit contender, and we may end up getting more of those type of elite recruits. I already see this staff as coaches who can DEVELOP the players, which Mari Cristbal and staff didn't seem to do. The schemes will be WAY better, which = wins. We'll see this fall. A big season with the existing talent could reap huge reward for the class of '23, let alone classes down the road. Development will make kids believe OREGON will be as good as anywhere to help get to the League. Playing for natty's doesn't hurt either.

No Roses for the Beavers--Memories from 2008 (and 2009)
JDuck replied to Drake's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
A favorite road game, and that video is one of my all time faves too...I've sent the link to many a beever buddy over the years...years after. That Darron Thomas pass on the trick play...it gave me chills, I knew the kid would be good. I knew it. -
Can't hurt a program like Oregon, to get more of the 5 stars from SEC country up. Cost and family life...Lanning mentioned there could be less of a break. What about making it 8 or 10 instead of 5?

Funny, I always seemed to struggle to get to "normal heights" when using any brand of condom.

NOT Green and Yellow, but COOL to You?
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
For the hundredth time, it's cool but get some yellow AND green on there. Put a yellow O on the hip on each side, a tad more prominent green outlining the numbers or something, yellow facemask... -
What If Vernon Adams Didn’t Break His Finger in 2015?
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Your last questions in the article are intriguing. Would we be set up for success that seems to be on the horizon now had VA not broken his finger? VA was an absolute magician. We would have beaten MSU (in East Lansing) by 2 TDs. The WSU game never even gets close to OT. I'm not certain we lose to Utah, but either way yes we're probably 12-1 and lose to Alabama, but not shut out like MSU. The Alamo never happens. If it still did, no concussion and that never gets to OT. (Or Doug Brenner makes fewer horrid snaps and maybe we still win). Yes, Dennis Dixon doesn't hurt his knee that was probably a Heismann and Natty. Crap 12 refs don't blow a review, and 2012 probably a Natty. VA may have gone to New York if not hurt, but McCaffrey got absolutely robbed to not win the Heismann that year. Derrick Henry was good but it paled compared to McCaffrey that year. -

The Crap 12 refs make a correct call (during a review with obvious video evidence!!!) and we probably win the Natty in 2012...forget the block (or lack thereof) -
"The Most Incredible Ending to a Football Game!"
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I was there, it's still in my mind. That beever safety getting leveled LOL -
What's interesting is the Grizz record when Ja plays vs. when he's out injured. There were some other stats they showed the other night along those lines. They seem to be a better team without him. They are a young, talented team. I wonder if they should let Ja bolt, and take that cap money and get better chemistry piece or two, a veteran leader still in his prime at the right position.

I've posted this on this forum for years. I want to see GREEN and YELLOW in EVERY uniform. 1. I love black unis, just don't do the chrome lids and silver numbers. Make GREEN and YELLOW part of the numbers, facemask, the "O", something. Mostly all black but both GREEN and YELLOW trim, both, somewhere in the system. The swoosh on the shoes, the facemask, the numerals, little stripes or just an O on the upper thigh football pants or basketball shorts. 2. All green or All yellow, with the other color incorporated, and then black/silver/white accents or piping. In football, the yellow/green/yellow or green/yellow/green looks are awesome. White/green/white is fine, or Green/white/Green on the road, etc. just throw a little yellow in somewhere. 3. Baseball/Softball: Grey road unis are fine, but put both green AND yellow piping, numbers, the O, yellow numbers with green piping, whatever, both colors. Same on the all whites or even an all black. 4. Speaking of the all whites, I love it, the storm trooper blowing out USuC in the Coliseum I think when Kenjon ran for 335 yard and 5 TDs that was cool, but...find a bit of BOTH green and yellow balanced nicely, somehow. Same with silver/chrome/gray, not opposed but gotta have both school colors somehow 5. The funky one-offs like the cookies and cream at sucLA last fall were weird, but if it's another little deal breaker to get top talent to come to Eugene, along with facilities, well ok then. (I want coaching that develops the players, scheme that scores 48 ppg and a D that rivals Georgia's last year...and kids that see that as the main selling point, but if these other things are the icing on the cake to pick us over Bama why not?) Is there a way to get a little more green and yellow on those, even just a bit? The dysentery uniforms were a cool State of Oregon one-off, and had we won that stupid game they would be forever a cool memory instead of a "WTH don't do that again!!!" 6. Green variants. The bright apple, or the darker...I'm good with both, as long as they look GREEN and there is lightning yellow. BTW I love lightning yellow, only use the old golden yellow if it's a throw-back uni, which once in a while is fine too. I did NOT care for the super dark olive green/brown looking weird one we wore last fall, can't even remember which game now, looked like a black uni the equipment manager accidentally washed with the jock strap bleach load and the color came out weird.

Canzano: Trail Blazers' Fate Hangs in the Balance
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nowadays I wonder how much star players seem to gravitate more towards the bigger market when free agency rolls around? I'm sure they want to win too, but $$$ talks also. Is Portland, the city, in the news too often for the wrong reasons the last few years? Is it the rain? Nice houses aren't cheap anywhere anymore, but you could get a pretty nice place with NBA star money compared to what it would cost for a house like that in L.A. or Miami or NYC or Chicago. Lillard is awesome, why can't they build around him better? Jokic is the MVP now in Denver, was he bad chemistry in Portland? -
Yeah but I just don't care. I don't gamble. I laugh at the projections that the perple hydrant wetter pooch mutts will be the darkhorse Pac 12 team this year. One of the teams predicted to have just 3 wins will get 6. Some of the 7 to 9 win predictions will pull a classic USuC and go 5-7 or 4-8. I just hope WE go 15-0. I'll wait for them to play the games.

Oregon’s QB1: Who Gets The Nod Week 1?
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I just think of Darron Thomas...he had fantastic RB's and a system that worked then...but he was an effective thrower. He actually was not that fast, but he had some great runs because he made fantastic reads. Any of our 3 QBs will run ok in this offense if they make good decisions. It'll be the good passer who makes good decisions...no dumb picks, good reads in this offense that will have multiple options on most plays. Thompson has a magic arm, can the game slow down for him? He'd have adequate speed I'm sure, he's not slow. Butterfield looks like a good passer and decision maker, like Darron Thomas he could make good yardage running by making the right read, despite not being a speed burner. Nix probably starts for the next year or 2 because he is athletic, he can throw, and I think his reads will be good, and hopefully in year 4 he'll throw fewer dumb picks. The experience from playing all those road games in SEC country will set him apart, for now. -

What do You Want More, a Win Over Georgia or Utah?
JDuck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Win in Georgia and probably still have to go 12-0 to make the playoff too, losing to a Pac 12 team later and it's probably Fiesta Bowl at best, assuming the loss isn't in the P12 CG. Losing to a top 3/defending champ is less of a fall off the radar especially if we play competitively. One loss coming in the conf. C.G. and it's back to the Alamo, as the winner gets either Fiesta or playoff, loser even at 12-1 will not get Fiesta unless that team beating us is in playoff (Utah?). And the question is, who do you want to beat more? Conversely, it's the same as which would you rather put up with losing to? For me, Georgia, as I want to destroy the Utes twice now. Hopefully they still win the south after we cream them in Eugene, so we get the 2-0 chance. We beat tOSU on the road last year and it just artificially kept us ranked when it was obvious after a bunch of P12 games we were not that good really. By December the luster of week 2's win made us look worse in the national spotlight I think. LOL you were right too much time on our hands to contemplate silly stuff. September can't come soon enough! -
What do You Want More, a Win Over Georgia or Utah?
JDuck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Beating tOSU, in Columbus no less (and first win ever after...9 tries?) was big. But then losing to Utah--twice no less--was a bummer. Losing to a top 5 blue-blood is a "more respectable loss" perhaps. Winning the conference is big. Losing to GA in week 1 and winning out from there is still a high chance of making the playoff (which could mean beating Utah twice). Losing to Utah at home, or in the Pac-12 C.G. is likely an elimination from the playoff, and in the latter case, the Rose Bowl as well. Even with a win over a top 5 pre-season GA, the early season win means less to the committee than a late season loss. As much as I want to beat GA, if given the choice I'd rather go 12-1 with the only loss in week 1. I say, Lanning knows Kirby and we get the road upset for the second year in a row ("neutral site"...lol whatever) and we double revenge Utah. 13-0. -
Just give it to the Bama guy because he rushed for 1500 yards. Had to better he went Bama, right?
-
I wonder if the previous staff was afraid to use the speed because it was all about "toughness"? I like the post about Mari (without the "o" since his teams had no O) and I'm starting to say Crisco-bal because like grease he let so much talent slip right through his hands. Good luck Miami

Ducks Safety Daymon David Enters Transfer Portal
JDuck replied to idontrollonshobbas's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yep, Mariota was a 2 star on one service, 3 on others. LaMichael, Kenjon, Kiko. Many great Duck defenders, a lot of which had good NFL careers. Many many 3 stars. O Linemen too. Look at the FCS guys that get drafted every year, it's not a small number really. Patrick Chung 2 star recruit. Numerous DB's. Helfrich went to Honolulu on a rumor and knew immediately what he saw in MM. Slash that Heismann pose baby, in the civil war game 2014. Now, may this staff develop them like Belotti and Chip's staffs did, not the Crisco-bal way. Talent slippin' right thru yer hands like a cowboy tryin to ride a greased pig bareback at the county fair fun games. -
Spot on Sir Charles. How can anyone with a brain roast you for that opinion? I guess it's like a lot of what we see in the world today, people apparently don't want truth. As much as I love my Ducks and want to see an exciting offense outscore all opponents on the way to 15-0 this season, we'll see what we see and get what we get. Hopefully it's 46.7 ppg or more, with a fierce defense. Nothing wrong with pointing out how the last coach was a flake.

Ducks Safety Daymon David Enters Transfer Portal
JDuck replied to idontrollonshobbas's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Safety and Linebacker are perhaps the 2 biggest strengths of the team. I think RB is getting up there, though no proven super star...but I think that will change come September. This transfer is not a big deal.
