Nico is Gone: Where Does Oregon Turn to For a 2023 Quarterback?
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think developing our own is better than playing the portal every year. Marcus was good enough to win the natty as a RFr. save the Crap 12 officials who don't understand that a bobbled pass controlled out of bounds is not a catch, even after multiple camera angles. -

Learning About Lanning: “This is a VERY HARD Program”
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Remember Chip would do practice FAST, and it would be over relatively quick too, but everyone was in shape. The offense gassed opponents, and the D would substitute a lot of fast players. Aliotti wanted "2 monsters in the middle" and 9 guys who could run like hell. It mostly worked, especially when the spread was new. Fake an injury anybody? -
Coach Lanning: “Judge us by What we DO” (What was THAT About?)
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just win, baby. Win the Pac, a bowl, get 11 or 12 wins...those 5 stars see the improvements in scheme and player development, Top 5 or better class this fall. Next fall, win it all. If the QB situation pans out that's not a dream. -
The Targeting Rule is Not About Player Safety
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yeah, I just want the appeal to happen on the field, someone in the booth, ref on the sideline camera, whatever, have the brains to see that it is one of these situations and not call anything. If both need a doctor clearance, they may be able to get that while they do the review and be ready next play even. Like all play reviews, try not to make it take 17 years. Obviously rule changes are needed, and ref training. Having the brains to may a good call is always a concern when you have Crap-12 officials, especially in football. -
The Targeting Rule is Not About Player Safety
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Totally agree. A couple things...what if someone gets pushed into the ball carrier multiple times, and it's incidental, unintentional, not-their-fault 10 times in a row? Tracking these things is fine but punishment because it happens to them in that way should not be a thing. The Vontaze Burfict type players where it seems more intentional, tracking that and racking up penalties may be appropriate. Also, he goes low to use shoulder, then the ball carrier dips...that's equal blame, not on the defender. Yes, overall these need to be looked at much more closely before just assessing a penalty and ejecting players, almost always the defender. Sitting out next week's first half has been wrong 90% of the time. -
Sounds like a smart move to me

JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes, that's it...more dudelier dude dudes are needed I think we'll see it with the number 5 star dudes in the class of '23. -
Rumored $8 Million NIL Deal for 5-Star QB Recruit

George Carlin..."Ever notice that anyone going slower than you is a moron, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac" Honk, Honk, C'mon you moron!!! Whoa, look at that maniac go!!! -
Like men, no go-to, no true PG? Fire of the 1st quarter fizzled, like all season long. Is that on the girls or on KG and coaches? Sedona started well and ride the bench at the end. Injury issues we don't know about? Continued poor shooting, how many missed 3 foot or shorter layup/short bank shots? Giving up Offensive boards...16 to be exact, yet we had 18!!! The box score almost looks like a victory, then the fouls and free throws... Crap 12 refs strike again
-
Nyara fouled out/KG technical, but Sedona only had 2 fouls???

Mens Basketball: Should They Accept an NIT Bid?
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Absolutely accept invite to the NIT. And then you play the guys like Bittle. You actually don't play guys like Richardson because hes a senior and his leadership has been absolutely 0 kind of like his Box score. That may sound harsh but when you go to the NIT, and you win it, all you can say is "we're 69th !!!". So this is kind of like a tournament where you try to develop the young players and maybe you bow out in the 1st round but they get that experience at least and the seniors didn't really get us anywhere so the seniors really aren't the ones that get to play much. Also at least you get a little bit of extra money or whatever and some extra practices. -
Mens Basketball: Should They Accept an NIT Bid?
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think all the transfers and the roster is different every year and the one in duns I think that has an impact on the team even understanding how critical of a rivalry that is even if it's not football. We seem to step up for UCLA which is like the rivalry for basketball I guess -
Oregon Loses Another DB to the Transfer Portal
JDuck replied to EastBayDuckDad's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think CB is lining up to be a position of strength for a couple years with the incoming transfer and the recruits. Probably doesn't see himself in the 2-deep for awhile in Eugene. Upcoming classes I bet--hope--this staff will bring in some 5 star level DB's -
Chip Kelly: What do You See as UCLA's High/Low Water Mark in 2022?
JDuck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
sUCLA will go 7-5 probably, or worse -
Can you imagine if NFL style Marxism hit the college level? The conferences with big TV revenue have to share with those that don't...so that every team gets an equal payout every year, kind of like a level cap. Every team can only pay NIL at the same max. The NIL part might hurt a big Nike school like Oregon, but the PAC would sure recover from Loser Larry a lot quicker. Yeah...won't happen. And even with caps, somebody wins the super bowl and NBA championship while somebody goes 2-14 and 20-62. And MLB has no cap and the Yankwads spend double the closest next payroll and haven't won the world series in a while, you'd think they'd win it every year. So...maybe caps don't even matter? Sorry, Sunday evening ramblings

I'd be surprised if we don't end up in the NIT. It would probably take winning the P12 tournament...if they play well that's totally realistic, but we just don't have a closer, a go-to guy. Richardson was 0-8 last night. We shot poorly--again--and got out-rebounded but still had a shot and lost by 1. Didn't seem like the inbounds with 4 seconds left set us up well, but hard to blame DA. Looking forward to the 5* true point guard coming in next season

Did the Ohio State Victory Hatch Mario’s “Miami” Plan?
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I can't imagine all of them don't keep future options in the back of their minds. Hopefully Lanning can make a winner here and will look at Oregon as a final stop, not a stepping stone. The "O" emblazoned on the big trophy multiple times -
Mens Basketball: Too Early to Prepare for Next Year?
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And last years Elite 8 Beevwads are one of the worst teams in the country. LOL not good for the Pac but... Arizona should be in a 3-year program suspension be here they are again...Tucson is not that great of a place to live. I don't get it. Altman had a certain assistant coach the whole Oregon tenure until this year...I wonder how much better he was than we think??? I can't even remember his name, he got a well deserved head coach gig -
WAY, WAY, WAY TOO EARLY - Brett McMurphy 2023 Bowl Projections.
JDuck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
These things are, as they admit...WAY WAY WAY too early. Next year's top 25 in January, just click bait to me. Waste of time to read these in my worthless opinion. But I get it, we football freaks can't help it. They know it, it sells ads -
Having the winter Olympics in a place with little snow is just plain stupid. Shiffrin wasn't the only DNF in the slalom...there were about 35. Artificial ice sucks

I am Surprised, Disappointed with Mens/Womens Basketball
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
WBB: We've discussed in another forum, was KG looking better with Sabrina/Ruthie/Satou than his X-O or motivational skills? I don't know if people understand just how amazing those players were, Sabrina especially...generational talent. Now, five 5* players, Dugalic transferred already (played little), TeHina is good when she is good but streaky, Maddie and Sydney start but have been completely unproductive, check the box scores. Rogers and Sabally have carried the team, but as someone else mentioned, same with MBB, so many missed layups and 2 foot shots, so many fumbles in the paint, so many turnovers. WIth WBB, it's not just the bigs. Sedona, BTW, has played limited minutes for a month and little production, missing the 12 to 16 footers she used to hit. Yesterday she had a good first half. Are all these 5 stars mostly over-rated? I forgot Kylie Watson, she has played sparingly. Or is KG not as a good of a coach without a couple generational players? Or does this team just fail to execute, like late in the game yesterday, not boxing out on the free throw miss? Oh, and the free throw shooting, both Men's and Women's. Don't understand the men's collapse against Utah, or Colorado when we lost at home. I get the injuries for the women and hectic travel schedule, but something else doesn't add up. -
