  1. What... for a uniform? No way. Not in my opinion.
  2. It's not Oregon football.
  3. Well, that's what I thought too. I seem to remember reading about the players choosing what combos they wanted to wear, but if what David says is right that'ed preclude that. Maybe Nike needs heads-up time to make the unis.
  4. Seriously? !! I wonder if the NE Pats plan out what Bill Belichick's gonna wear? lol
  5. It was tongue-in-cheek. My favorite two NFL QB's (back in the days when I still watched NFL games) was Fran Tarkington and Joe Montana. By today's standards they were almost midgets. (Apologies to small people - or whatever the proper pronoun is to describe short people).
  6. So let's turn this around just a bit: Saturday College Game Day broadcasts from Athens, Ga. for the Tennessee - Georgia game. 1 vs. 3. Who helps Oregon the most by winning? Probably Georgia, right? Who do we root for; Georgia, right? Who do you think will win?
  7. At 6'3" isn't he a little short? Don't the coaches all want 6'4 and above nowadays? Maybe he'll grow another inch or two.
  8. Wow! That's a real mouthful there EBDD. I like it. You're a real sesquipedalian.
  9. For those who like conspiracies, here's one: A 1-loss Oregon winning the Pac-12 Championship and finishing 12-1 gets left out (they'll use that 1st game against us). A 1-loss USC winning the Pac-12 Championship and finishing 12-1 gets put in IF there are 2 other 1-loss teams. In fact, I'd be willing to bet a dollar-to-a-donut a 12-1 USC would trump TCU, maybe even Clemson simply because the CFB has been wanting to get USC back in the picture for a long time now. They'd really love to have USC and/or ND in it together, but ND didn't cooperate with the program this year. How's that for conspiracies?
  10. Am I correct is assuming that the players get to pick what uniform/combination they wear (within road/home guidelines) each week? If so, then I guess we just have to let the young men have their choice. It's not one of my favorite combos either. But if they like 'em and if they play well in them, then so be it, I guess. Sometimes I wonder how much $$ Oregon wastes or could save if they just had a few combinations and stuck with that. But then I have to remind myself OBD's are the runway models for Phil Knight and Nike. And as long as Knight continues to support the Oregon athletic program... well.
  11. In the high mountain air of Boulder - something tells me this game will be closer than the oddsmakers think. I'd even be cautious taking the pts (-30.5) on this one. Three starters (at least) out for the game and on the road. I'd hazard a guess of 45-20 and be very happy to see that.
  12. Except that, should UW beat OSU they might be ranked too when they come to Eugene. Ah... the vagaries of collegiate polls, eh?
  13. It's going to come down to the "four best no-loss & 1-loss teams" ... unless the powers to be want to let TCU into the hallowed club of Playoff Teams. I'm not sure they're ready to do that. How they determine (select) the best 1-loss teams is anyones wild guess. Branding, I suspect.
  14. I hope you get it but I had to laugh because every darned tie I 'think' or 'hope' I'm gonna get a game on my TV (usually the Ducks) I end up disappointed. It's a "world-wide, sinister Mr. Evil conspiracy" (tongue in cheek) against football fans to dangle the possibility out in front of them and then yank it back at the last moment, preventing them from seeing the game they want most to view. I blame Original sin....
  15. While I think it's a very real and relevant stat - and I acknowledge Lanning's focus on it to very good effect - I sure hope he and the team aren't so sold into it that when it doesn't work out for them they experience a team let-down. Every team Oregon is going to play from now on is going to be aware of this (if they weren't already!). But I will agree: when the Ducks score last in the 1st Half and 1st in the 2nd Half it can have a devastating effect on the opponent. Just don't count on it or rely on it.
  16. No, not really. Not a fan of either team, but a fan of both Herbert and Mariota. I just hope they both play well and neither is injured. Also not a big fan of the NFL in general - just former Duck players and coaches. I'm all Collegiate oriented.
  17. Meaning ... he leaves under a cloud? Could be right, might not be. I'd caution fans making assumptions. Lanning is a man of few words as compared to loquaciousness. I'm holding out hope for Seven 'cause I like to see the best in people and not the worst. That said, something caused him to be left at home last Saturday. Might have been his own decision.
  18. I'm still trying to figure out why Noah Sewell gets such high accolades. I just haven't seen him earn them yet, this year. There's flashes of brilliance, but then, there's those droughts of head-scratching & shaking that leaves one wondering, wth? Gads, if this guy ever does play up to his potential and expectations, Lanning's defense is going to be a monster with the way Dorlus and Johnson are playing and the D-line in general. And, imo, the backfield has been playing better and better every game. Am I wrong about Sewell here?
  19. Just one, tiny snippet of the larger article above (which is pretty interesting, esp where it discusses Oregon's chances) to show us why "ranking" teams to set up playoff berths instead of setting them by wins in their respective conferences is so dicey and frivolous: "3. Tulane (7-1), ranked 19th: The good news is Tulane is the top-ranked Group of 5 team. The bad news is the Green Wave are ranked six spots behind Kansas State, which has two losses, including one to ... Tulane! It's stuff like this that shows the bias that exists in college football and those who do the choosing. Not that Kansas St. is one of the darlings, 'cause they're certainly not!
  20. I laugh - but it could happen!
  21. I know Lanning was quoted as saying "Seven is no longer with us." But the transfer portal doesn't actually open till Dec. 01 to the 15th. He said he was going once before - was talked out of it by Lanning and Dilly and changed his mind. So who knows really what's gonna happen in a month? Too bad - I liked the young man and thought he could be a game-changer.
  22. What would be nice to see is the Ducks get up big early, say 30 pts by the end of the 3rd. Then It'd be nice to see Thompson come in and get a whole qtr to see if he's half as good as the Arizona red-shirt Frosh CAL has on their team. That kid (Kai Milner) looks like a future star and he came out of school as a 4-star - unlike Thompson's 5.
  23. That's a lot of points for the Beavers to score. I'd be inclined to guess 20-17.
  24. Huskies shouldn't have friends.
  25. Beavers. Such is my .... um... 'dislike' of the Huskies that I'd only root for them if they were playing Notre Dame. And probably not even then!
