Recruiting for Oregon in the B1G...
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Totally agree, Kamidaze Kid. I think we lost a couple of highly ranked recruits due to conference uncertainty in the past couple of months. Everyone was recruiting against us with that. Coach Lanning is so excited with being in the B1G and it is full steam ahead on recruiting. It would be great to see some flips! -

How Oregon Stacks Up to B1G Recruiting Oregon is actively recruiting the 2024 class. Which will be the first signed class at Oregon to play as a Big-10 conference member. Every year the SEC, Big-10 and ACC recruit the best of the best. Meanwhile Oregon had been taking advantage of several down years at USC in the Pac-12. That is until Lincoln Riley got them back on the right track. USC and UCLA have already been included in the B1G recruiting rankings. Oregon and Washington will likely be moved into the B1G rankings soon as well. The following is an article that expresses how the conference is where we are... Jon Gold: Pac-12's demise a decade's worth of naivete, in Larry Scott's own words Larry Scott strode up to the podium at Pac-12 Media Day on July 26, 2011, a conquering hero. He’d only been on the job 2 years and 4 months, but he’d led a tidal wave of momentum for the venerated conference out west, which was coming off the heyday of the Pete Carroll era at USC and entering the Chip Kelly era years at Oregon. A year earlier, the league had expanded by two schools — Colorado and Utah — and, just under three months earlier, Scott had announced a landmark, 12-year, $3 billion television rights deal with ESPN and Fox that, at the time, was the richest in college athletics history. Read the article below to see how the conference is where it is today...through Larry Scott's own words... Gold: Pac-12’s demise a decade’s worth of naivete, in Larry Scott’s own words SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM For nearly a decade, Larry Scott sold a vision for the Pac-12 that ultimately never came to fruition. Ultimately, that skewed vision helped doom the league.

Dan Lanning: Oregon Ducks ‘playing against the best of the best’ in move to Big Ten Dan Lanning said there would be “a lot” coming next for the Oregon Ducks. “So sit back and watch,” Lanning said Monday afternoon. “We have really clear direction right now,” Lanning said. “It’s not the what ifs, it’s not the where are. It’s really clear where we’re going to be in the future and how we’re set up for long term. ... Everybody’s always going to recruit hard against us. Ultimately we’re not really concerned about everybody else. We have a great option to sell here and it’s only stronger now because of what happened yesterday.” Dan Lanning: Oregon Ducks ‘playing against the best of the best’ in move to Big Ten WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Lanning was confident that the school’s administrators would “make the best decision for Oregon” and that the move to the Big... -
Fall Camp: Day 4 Practice
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning comments on Big Ten move Dan Lanning walked up to his post-practice availability on Saturday and opened by saying, “It’s fun to hear the pads pop.” That’s probably especially true considering the drama that surrounded Lanning’s football program — and the rest of the Pac-12 — until Friday. Conference realignment and media rights negotiations have dominated headlines across college sports for months. Even after fall camp began for teams around the country, the conversation remained centered around the non-football aspects of major college football. With Oregon’s future now secured — the Ducks will head to the Big Ten alongside Washington, USC, and UCLA in 2024 — the attention can start to shift back to the upcoming 2023 football season. Of course, Lanning was still asked to give his thoughts on Oregon’s soon-to-be new conference. Dan Lanning wants Oregon Ducks to continue rivalry with Oregon State Beavers, at Autzen and Reser Stadium Dan Lanning wants Oregon to keep playing Oregon State, at Autzen and Reser Stadium. The second-year Ducks coach is of the same position as UO athletic director Rob Mullens, that Oregon wants to continue playing its in-state rival even after it departs for the Big Ten starting next season. “I know Oregon State is a great example of a game that we would love to keep,” Lanning said Saturday. “We want to get that opportunity to continue to play against them. I think it means a lot to the people in this state. Troy Franklin ready to build off breakout season in 2023 The breakout season Troy Franklin enjoyed in 2022 caught the star receiver by surprise, he told reporters at Monday's football team media day. "I really didn't expect it," he said. "It was kind of crazy to me and shocking that I had the season that I had." Franklin finished among the Pac-12's best in receptions (61), receiving yards (891) and receiving scores (nine). Each of those figures more than tripled the numbers he put up during true freshman season in 2021. Franklin's emergence gives Bo Nix a reliable No. 1 target and also a player for teammates to model their games after. "I think I can take Troy Franklin and put his stuff in my game," USC transfer wideout Gary Bryant Jr. said. "I think we have a lot of receivers who are different as far as physical size or speed, but I think we could all take the little things that he does good and put it into our games." Recruiting for Oregon in the B1G...

Ducks making B1G recruiting push with help of conference realignment One of the biggest benefits that came with Friday’s news that the Oregon Ducks would be leaving the Pac-12 Conference alongside the Washington Huskies and moving to the Big Ten Conference was the boost that it gave both teams in the recruiting world. While the flashy uniforms and the elite facilities certainly help the Ducks when it comes to landing top-rated recruits, one of the biggest disadvantages they had was the exposure that they could offer prospects. Some of Oregon’s games came on ESPN and other national broadcasts, but a lot were also relegated to the Pac-12 Network, making it harder to players to be seen on a big stage. The move to the Big Ten changed that. Now, the Ducks will be playing against the best teams in the nation on NBC, CBS, and FOX once they officially make the move next year. It comes as no surprise that the school is trying hard to push that fact with recruits, and making it be known that they will be in one of the most elite conferences in the nation a year from now. Check out all of these posts for Oregon prospects and commits that came on social media Saturday... FYI: Gene Smith is Ohio State AD Gene Smith: B1G's viewership with latest additions 'is going to be ridiculous' Gene Smith was just like the rest of the country on Friday, reacting to the latest round of realignment news as Ohio State’s AD. As the Pac-12 continues to crumble, the B1G landed Oregon and Washington as additions beginning in 2024. That brings the Ducks and Huskies to the league at the same time as USC and UCLA. The Big 12 also landed 3 programs from the Pac-12 in Arizona, Arizona State and Utah. In a conversation with Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch, Smith revealed he had an inkling last week that things might start falling after a conversation with Colorado AD Rick George in Indianapolis. As for the new additions, Smith admitted Oregon and Washington bring major value to the B1G’s television partnerships. Oregon's all-time record against new Big Ten rivals With the news that Oregon is leaving the Pac-12 for the greener pastures of the Big Ten, we thought it would be a good idea to see how the Ducks have fared against their so-to-be new rivals and peers. Oregon has played every current member of the Big Ten except Maryland and Rutgers, with the Ducks having some pretty good success. The only team that has had its way with Oregon, not surprisingly, is Ohio State as the Buckeyes have won nine of the 10 meetings. That one Duck win, however, came in the last meeting as Oregon ran over and through Ohio State in the Horseshoe. The Big Ten Conference is about to have a lot of members out west, but this is how the Ducks have done against the conference’s current teams. Oregon football defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi wants defense 'respected and feared' The last season of the Pac-12 Conference is gearing up to be the year of the quarterback. Besides Oregon’s Bo Nix, Southern California has reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, Washington has Michael Penix Jr., who was second in the NCAA last season with 4,641 passing yards, with quality starters returning at Arizona (Jayden de Laura), Utah (Cameron Rising) and Washington State (Cameron Ward), and the addition of former Clemson starter DJ Uiagalelei now at Oregon State. Limiting their production will be a tough task. “This conference has an awesome reputation (when it comes to quarterbacks),” said Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi, who was a defensive lineman at Cal when Aaron Rodgers was the Golden Bears’ quarterback. “Offense excels and it all starts with the quarterback. … And we love that challenge. And we're going to do our best to affect those guys.” Oregon football defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi wants defense 'respected and feared' WWW.REGISTERGUARD.COM Is Oregon's pass defense improved heading into the year of the quarterback in the Pac-12? -
Ranking the Big Ten teams that we can't wait to see Oregon play No matter your feelings about the Oregon Ducks leaving the Pac-12 Conference for a spot in the Big Ten on Friday, there is one aspect of the deal that is largely undeniable, no matter who you are. The marquee matchups that we are set to get over the coming years with the Ducks playing Big Ten teams is going to be incredibly enthralling, simply from an entertainment standpoint. While it is a bummer that we are missing out on yearly rivalries between Oregon and Stanford, or Washington State, we are also gaining annual or semi-annual matchups between the Ducks and Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State. 3 former Oregon Ducks discuss program’s move to Big Ten: ‘You either adapt or you die’ They made their name as athletes in the Pac-10/Pac-12 as stars for the Oregon Ducks and later played in the NFL. They carry the pride of having helped the Ducks win conference championships after decades of program mediocrity. To see their conference crumble does not sit well with Joey Harrington, Kenjon Barner and George Wrighster. But they definitely support the Ducks’ move to the to the Big Ten in 2024 given the alternatives. 3 former Oregon Ducks discuss program’s move to Big Ten: ‘You either adapt or you die’ WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Joey Harrington, Kenjon Barner and George Wrighster support the Ducks’ move to the to the Big Ten in 2024 given the alternatives.
