  1. Since others have posted that G6 champions should get in, I don't feel so out of place suggesting this, if we go to 16 teams: I don't think any conference should get 4 automatics. Go with 3 and 2. If the 4 spot in the SEC and the B1G are that good, they will get an at large bid anyway. Why should a 13th ranked BIG12 get pushed out by a 17th ranked team that is fourth in his conference. Granted, this will not happen very often, but it will. G6 Champs have play-in games, matchups according to rankings (1 hosts 6, 2 hosts 5, 4 hosts 3) This way, the G6 gets 3 spots in the field of 16. (This would mean there would actually be 19 teams in the playoffs.) Any champion that didn't win its play-in game is not eligible for an at large bid -- they lost their chance. Therefore, 16 teams in the final bracket: 4 P4 champs, 3 G6 champs, 2 each more from the SEC and the B1G, 1 each more from the ACC and BIG12, and 3 at large bids. I think it would be even better to say 4 P4 champs, 3 G6 play-in champs, and 9 at large bids, but there are a couple of powerful leagues that are afraid of losing out. If they are so powerful, what are they afraid of??? They should get 5 or 6 in anyway. Right, SEC?
  2. Ducks definitely have an easier path at #5 they we would at #6.
  3. They have all practiced, they have all suited up. They are all available so far. We need to have 3 or 4 QBs available in EVERY GAME because it only takes one play for someone to go down. BT is QB #2. We don't know who is #3 and #4.
  4. When the coordinators left, Dan Lanning talked to the media about his goals of helping everyone in the program to meet their goals and dreams - players and coaches. How is he helping his coaches if he doesn't promote from within if those coaches are ready? If these two guys are ready and don't get promoted, they will be hired elsewhere which means we lose some good position coaches, co-coordinators, and recruiters that already buy into the culture and Dan's expectations of them. What kind of return on investment does that give DL??? We all know about DL's little black book of people he would hire when the opportunity came. He has made some great hires that at the time many people questioned. Dan hasn't had to fire anyone, so I assume he is happy with who he has hired so far. Besides... the Ducks are winning!!! Dan is going to stick around as long as he keeps winning... and he is going to do whatever it takes to win... because he likes it here.
  5. At what point will Penn State realize that they will not get a better coach than Franklin? At this point, will they even find a coach that is as good as Franklin?
  6. The only right decision about Miami/Notre Dame is keep them both out. Neither deserve it anyway.
  7. One thing Dan is considering as well, Stein is our QB coach. If the guy coming in can't coach QBs we might have to hire a good stand alone QB coach. We did that once before with Surfer Dude. I liked him. He was Justin Herbert's first QB coach and wanted to start Justin from day one. It took him 4 games to convince MH, and Justin got his first start in game 5 vs. the Huskies.
  8. This could be the best solution for Novosad. I like it. He has given 3 years to the Ducks and is worthy to be starting somewhere. Being able to stay with Will Stein, (who recruited him and has been his QB coach the whole time at Oregon), will be a seamless transition. Hopefully he will be able to start at Kentucky, chew up the SEC, and have a great career in the League.
  9. If Indy beats osu by 30 or more the SEC is going to declare that the B1G is small and that everyone in the small B1G should drop below the four best teams out of the SEC.
  10. Another question to ponder: If Mario gets injured and will obviously miss the playoffs, does that put Miami back in????
  11. Beavs beat WSU the first time they met this year. They are playing again today. If Washington State wins, will they have a PAC 12 championship game at a neutral site to decide who gets the trophy and the automatic bid into the CFP???
  12. Pitt just went up on the U... 7-3. This might be a good game.
  13. Not much. I don't want A&M to lose or anything else that could lift the Ducks into the top 4.
  14. I sure hope not. When Dan Lanning hired Samples, almost everyone had serious doubts (except for the fact that DL is a trustworthy head hunter). Now no one in the family doubts Samples. He has been awesome in every way. Samples is Oregon's assistant head coach. When Dan Lanning retires in another 50 years or so, Samples should be ready to take over. 😁
  15. ...or they could say, "It wasn't a big game."
