  1. Oh no! Hope you and your husband recover soon, Pennsylvania Duck. You are missed.
  2. I find it very hard to criticize the B1G or the SEC for not scheduling P-5 games. Winning the National Championship is my goal every year, and scheduling tough OOC opponent gets in the way of that too often. The PAC-12/10 is too weak, so I guess we can't go that route, but I certinly do not blame teams in legitimate conferences for handling their risks.
  3. I personally do not get any of the money that Oregon would receive from the B1G. As such, I don't really care what kind of low-ball offer the Ducks get. We are an extremely wealthy school with Phil's money. We can accept $30M from the B1G for all I care until the next contract in 2029/30. Just get us out of the Pac now.
  4. I, for one, welcome one of the Van Buren Boys. Give him #8, a proper number for QB at Oregon.
  5. As someone who grew up in Washington, D.C., I always keep an eye on players from the DC Metro area. There aren't really many powerhouse teams anywhere nearby. Nashville is really far away, like 10 hours. Columbus is about 5 or 6 hours or so away I'd guess. The University of Maryland generally has good programs, but Oregon is a much bigger brand. But the DC Metro produces more basketball players, so I guess it should be more of a focus for our scouts for that sport. Georgetown has fallen off the map, and Maryland is sometimes hit or miss. UVA is once again a powerhouse in basketball after disappearing after Y2K, but their football program isn't even competing with teams like the Ducks. UNC, maybe. Anyway, my point is that Oregon needs to open up a satellite recruiting office in D.C., the land of the lobbyists! Stake claim where there is taxation without representation!
  6. No surprise. Bad day for the Athletic Department ticket sales reps, an OK day for the Ducks. Oregon doesn't need the drama if Bronnie doesn't start.
  7. That sucks that happened to you. I hope you email them what you wrote here, and see if they can do you a special favor. That said, it wasn't just Altman complaining. It's embarrassing as a fan to see empty seats at MKA. I don't really have to play devil's advocate here, I think making the stadium appear fuller is a pretty good idea. My guess is that doing so is taken from a page in Arena Management 101. It's possible that the UO made a mistake by ever even offering those seats to season ticket holders until Eugene started selling out the arena on a year-by-year basis. They failed Area Management 101: Chapter 1, in that regard. Handcuffing a company or an organization to early mistakes is not fair. There are other things that the UO needs to do to get more fans. Making promotional deals for single game tickets (buy 1 get 1 half off) would be a start. I never get promo emails from the Basketball team from UO, but I get a ton from the Football program, which is interesting since the basketball team needs more fans! Marketing shouldn't just advertise promos via email, but through the RegisterGuard.com (and the paper), the Eugene Weekly, and TV spots on KEZI. Another thing the UO needs to do to make the game look better on TV (which is exceptionally important) is to finally change the court to something, anything, less distracting. Anyway, the Ducks have three 5-star recruits coming next year (two consensus). They also might get Lebron James' son, Bronnie. If that happens the stadium might be sold out.
  8. Fun second half! I must say, though, if the coaches call Ty Thomson's first snap from the line to be a backwards pass one more time, I might lose my mind. Last season that was his first play call when he went in on three occasions, one for a big loss, one hit a player in the helmet, and one was a fumble. Simple request.
  9. Well, I am banking on him going from Moga to no NoGo if and when Oregon signs a 5-star prospect. Moga can go elsewhere. TT was a fluke bust. We can not have an attitude of "stars do not matter" anymore.
  10. Hmm. I thought one of the main objectives this weekend was to get Van Buren to favor us. Hopefully Van Buren is nonplussed by this announcement. Hopefully other 5-star QB's will also not bat an eye by Moga's commitment if Van Buren goes elsewhere. It's early, players can change their minds.
  11. Very disappointing. Gonzalez was the third DB drafted. I'm a Washington (D.C.) fan, and I was shocked they had a chance to pick him at 16. Then they went and picked a different DB! What??? Gonzalez had a one percent chance of dropping to #17 by experts. By almost no measure was going 17 a good night. I suppose going to a team that has had great DB's (from Oregon) is a plus.
  12. I have not seen him be anything other than a late 2nd round pick. Which is too bad, I mean....hellooooo?! He's my favorite Duck, and I've been expecting this good news for a while. Even if he has a similar season to last year's, he should be drafted for sure.
  13. Kevin Warren's last day is on April 17th. Here's hoping they announce his replacement quickly.
  14. Here is my hot take: older alumni that would be going to all of the home games don't because they won't let go of Mac Court. Was the experience much, much better before? Absolutely. Was it sustainable for modern collegiate athletics? Of course not. I think UO alumni owe more to the program, and they should be showing up for the team. It also would not hurt if we got a new court, maybe a plain parquet pattern would be "cool" enough.
  15. I get emails for Football packages and extra tickets all the time. I didn't get any emails for the NIT tournament. Why didn't they offer a promo price? Buy a ticket get one free? Why don't they rope former Duck stars to come have a night dedicated to them? Why aren't they buying ad time on local/Portland radio stations- again, offering promos?!
  16. Aaron Wise has plenty of money, so that helps. It's tough for me to judge him, but you can't miss the Masters. If he even made the cut that could have helped turn his season around. Now what? If he was afraid he was going to finish last that does not mean he won't finish last in his next tournament.
  17. * Schedules are already made into the 2030's. I think it's quite unlikely Oregon and Washington wouldn't go to the B1G during the B1G's next contract negotiation- if not earlier. * Not many, if any, popular teams that are usually ranked 4-20 are going to want to schedule Oregon for a home & home. * Oregon and Washington should take the much lower payout to be in the B1G ASAP so that we get a good payout in 2028 (or whenever the next contract is). Get it over with. I once played Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet. I know all about being in the middle of a sword fight between rivaling factions, getting gravely injured, and pretending everything is OK as long as possible. That's where the Ducks find themselves now. They are wounded in a conference that is dying, but they say everything is fine. I don't want to ask for Oregon tomorrow, and find out they are a grave program. I don't want Oregon to fight. I don't want Oregon to try and save their old friends. The University of Oregon should send their best lawyers and consultants to the Midwest and ask for mercy. End the madness. We can not save the PAC in this fight. Like J.O.S.H.U.A. said at the end of the movie War Games, "the only winning move is not to play." Oregon should not involve themselves in the politics or potential collapse of the Pac-12, and simply leave.
  18. It's kind of a very optimistic outlook, but with the Matt Damon & Ben Affleck movie "Air" coming out on April 5th, I can see Nike, Phil Knight, and in some way...Oregon becoming really hot on the national scene. If it could get the interest of B1G decisions makers to move the needle for Oregon ever so slightly, I think it might be enough to get us into the B1G sooner rather than later. Sometimes you've got to think B1G.
  19. 2002duck: "I check pretty frequently, and I've never seen Dante on a mock draft for this year's draft. I saw he was projected to go in the second round next year on nbadraft.net a few weeks ago, but now he's completely gone. It makes no sense." "If the Blazers got Dante in the second round in this year's draft I would be happy about that. I don't understand why he's getting no love." "As for Ware, I've always assumed he would transfer. I still expect that to happen, and especially so if Dante is told by NBA insiders that he's not going to get picked." Well, there is my commentary from March 12th. I am 0.001% surprised Ware is transferring. I still have the same basic beliefs: he is projected to be a mid to late 2nd round pick at best this year, and mocks have him going in the first round next year. From what you saw with his chemistry and role with Dana Altman, did you see Ware being put in a position to be a 1st round pick next year? Because I didn't. It was not a good fit. Ware seems to want to develop on the court after tipoff, and not after earning it. I still hope it means Dante might come back. But, no, I am not surprised Ware entered the portal. In fact, I think it was an excellent decision for him regarding his financial future. Why on earth would you stay at Oregon when the coach is not going to start you or use you a lot? Also, leaving for the NBA now would be a terrible idea. He'd be throwing away 1st round money. Worse case scenario is he gets drafted in the second round next year in the same spot he would have been picked this season.
  20. No offense, but in my opinion he was a massive liability when he was on the court. He doesn't have good handles, he turned the ball over a lot in the PAC-12 tourney, and he shot 31% at the free throw line and 30% from three this season. His departure opens up a spot for a portal player that is looking for a shot at the NBA (maybe!).
  21. "The NCAA then went onto explain the three reasons where an undergraduate transfer waiver would only be considered, citing specific circumstances. Per the NCAA, those reasons are as follow, effective for 2023-24 champions eligibility: #1) For reasons related to the student-athlete’s physical or mental well-being;" There you have it. Automatic transfer granted for any athlete with any wits. "When I transferred to Colorado I was a happy young man that loved playing football and learning new knowledge in my classes. Over series of months, Coach Deion Sanders made me a shell of my former self." "Any route I ran in practice, Deion would stop everyone to show how he could do it better than me. He asked me if I wanted his autograph every day in practice. My mental well-being is not OK, and I wish to play at Oregon with Dan Lanning. Please do not let me suffer one more day." Boom. Transfer accepted. Checkmate. Thanks for the game, NCAA.
  22. What time is/was that PAC-12 meeting today? I've been waiting for news all morning!
