  1. We need a RB that is expected to be drafted in the top three rounds of the NFL draft next spring. We don't have that. That's pretty much the only thing we need. Unless we got a veteran lockdown field goal kicker that I didn't know about, then we need that too. James isn't that and Whittington might have injury effects. The depth beyond that is hardly elite. It's time for a LaGarrette Blount transfer. We need someone teams fear.
  2. Frankly, I think the on-air personalities deserved those Emmy's. I have no problem with ESPN hooking up people like Herbstreit and Corso. The Emmy's changed the rule this year, so they would have got them now, so who cares? I am 100% in favor of prior "crimes" being reversed or expunged when new "laws" are in place.
  3. The problem is Penix is a borderline first round pick. He was sick(?) or injured for a chunk of the season and didn't power through it very well. It's a miracle UW went undefeated. If Oregon had beat UW by 3 twice instead of the other way around then Penix would be in the 30's on this list. He has a rocket arm but he's injury prone, and he's not a field general either. I would not draft him in the first round. Caleb Williams may cry at the end of games, but he's a top 5 pick.
  4. Jokes aside, I wouldn't part with money now. The payout for betting on Oregon probably won't drop until late September or early October. In the meantime, you can invest on bets that Washington will fail to cover the spread against WSU, Northwestern, and Rutgers in September.
  5. Understood. I spent a bit of yesterday upset, and my main line of thinking was cancelling the Civil War games. If the Beavers pull tricks, that most likely will happen. I come from a family of lawyers- some with local ties and season tickets to the Ducks. My uncle went to undergrad and law school at UO, and my father was a federal and administrative judge in Eugene. They are both confident that the Ducks will get a "fair" payment. My dad is an expert at court issues where cases get shipped around jurisdictions, and he was even appointed by a US President (who was not popular in Eugene I would imagine). He was not amused by some rulings made in this whole affair, but also thinks the Departing 10 could have approached things differently. As for me, I'm always very optimistic. I expect the Ducks to win the NC every year since 2000ish, and I expect the Ducks to get paid for 2023!
  6. 1) OSU & WSU still have to pay the Departing 10 schools revenue for 2023. The only change that might or probably will happen is that 2Pac will reduce that revenue by [insert number of millions] to deduct taxes, a.k.a. liabilities the Pac owes debtors. If 2Pac cut it too much it will go badly for them in a different lawsuit, or won't pass by a mediator. 2) If the Departing 10 schools sue in California it is very, very likely that the California justices would side with the Washington court. State courts don't like to overrule against their neighboring states. 3) The Civil War should only happen twice a decade. Oregon and Oregon fans should not feel sorry for OSU. The Civil War should absolutely not happen in November when we are focused on winning the Big 10. If it needs to be in August, so be it.
  7. Ha! The source is @MHver3. He's undoubtedly one of the least trusted conspiracy theorists on Twitter. First off, he posted this days ago and nobody paid attention to it because...obvious reasons. Here's another gem from him from the other day: "In what is perhaps the wildest rumor I’ve ever shared here: my source telling me that SEC and B10 have had talks with the NFL regarding funding NIL and having schools sponsored by NFL teams as a farm system that would develop their draft picks." - @MHver3
  8. Personally, if Gabriel wasn't in play for Oregon, I'd be a bit upset if the best we could get was Ward.
  9. This is really too bad. I hope all of games versus them are in September or August. I don't see why we could not have simply played them twice a decade or every 4 years. I have almost zero sympathy for Oregon State. Easy-ish non-con game, I guess. We'll have to tone down scheduling bigger programs until we can cancel this agreement.
  10. I've been telling my doomsday extended family members for months now that Oregon will get an elite QB that started at their P5 school, and it's looking like that will be the case. I'm sorry, but Ty Thompson is never going to be our preferred QB1, and no, Cam Ward might not be good enough for the Ducks. If Oregon strikes out on elite QB's and winds up with B+ Cam Ward, that will be fine. Ty Thompson is not a B+ QB. He has no field general presence.
  11. Some pundits say Alabama might not make it even if they win, but I highly doubt that. Texas has the most to worry about. They need two spots in the top 4 to get in. Oregon just needs to take Washington's spot. There's a remote chance the Committee puts in 12-1 Alabama and a 12-1 Georgia, but I doubt that as well.
  12. I've been on the National Championship or bust train for about 20+ years. Seriously.
  13. The MWC is D-I, not sure if you were joking, though.
  14. I think we are forgetting how bad the Big Ten is on the bottom half of the conference. Our schedule will be filled with easily winnable games. The Pac-12 is history, so I say all we need to do is follow suit with what OSU, Michigan, USC, UW, and Penn St. do. Would they cancel games against Baylor or Oklahoma State because they are "afraid" of them? I don't think so. Oregon playing in Texas is also good because Texas high school kids and their coaches can go to the games. I would love to play cupcake games late in the season like the SEC does, but the Big Ten won't allow it due to scheduling. Additionally, it's simply too bad that we have to play 9 conference games and SEC teams only play 8- but we can't do anything about that either. If some folks are concerned about us scheduling the likes of Baylor and OK ST, well, I would not be all too surprised if the Oregon brass scheduled a home and home with Florida or LSU, so I guess be careful what you wish for. Also, I don't really feel sorry for Oregon State. If that makes me a terrible person, I'm sorry. Cancelling any game to play them is out of the question for me, and I don't really care if we only play them twice a decade, once, or not at all.
  15. Ha. I'm a Gen-Xer who hates staying up too late, but hates waking up too early even more! These day games have been driving me crazy because I can't get anything done on Saturday mornings. 5:30 is the most ideal time for me, but a 7:30 game and then hitting the sack soon afterwards is great as well. 8pm is primetime TV on the West coast. Now, if you're going to game in person I can see some complaints... Anyway, I'm just done with 12:30 kickoffs. But I guess that's the future in the Big Ten...
  16. After the first half of the UW game I was beginning to think that Will Stein should have 51% of the vote on whether to go for it on fourth downs.
  17. I bet he asked if he could call one play, and it was to throw the ball on third down on our last possession.
  18. Man, these noon kickoffs have got to stop. What's worse is that this was our last year to "sleep in" before going to the Big 10. 12:30 games also pretty much call for many people having to book another night to stay in Eugene.
  19. We need to be hitting the portal for top caliber kickers every year. Let other teams develop them. Unless we get some prodigy, of course. His missed FG vs. Stanford was dreadful as well, but I blame this loss on Lanning's on field coaching decisions. Penix was playing poorly and hurt in the second half, and we should have punted instead of going for it there at the end. They had to score a TD, so stop them for 80+ yards-not 50.
  20. Ha, well these days goat means he's the best.
  21. The CFB Committee is not bound by the NCAA. If the Committee does not consider two teams an actual conference, then that pipe dream is over. Essentially, it's not happening. If the CFB Committee does not consider a PAC/MW conference (with only OSU and WSU coming from the PAC) to be a Power 5 conference, then they will simply not be one. So, yeah. Not happening.
  22. I'm not paying the NIL payments and I don't really who cares who does. I just want the Ducks to get the best recruits and win National Championships every single year. If you say that you can win National Championships every single year without getting 5-star players on a regular basis I wouldn't believe you. I have higher expectations than most, but ever since the Joey Harrington years I do believe the Ducks should strive to win the National Championship each year. Without big linemen (read: 5-stars) or innovative offenses like we saw with Chip Kelly, it's kind of hard to do. If we can pay players NIL money, and we can pay coaches whatever we want, then we should pay more than anyone else.
  23. Tez looks like a fine WR. I'm most interested in seeing Jurrion Dickey get some passes thrown his way vs. Hawaii. I still can't figure out why Lanning only had him one the field once or twice against Portland State when we were up 60+.
  24. Seemed to me like Shough was playing like a desert lizard that a group of schoolchildren might try to catch for fun. They are sneaky little guys, but even 7 year-olds can catch them soon enough. Unfortunately for the Ducks, they took too long to see the little desert fellow's camouflage and strategies. Personally, I thought the DB's did OK. With a QB like Shough I would have liked our guys to make a better effort to intercept the ball, though. I'm not too worried- I think we just played down to their level and hopefully won't do that again.
