Big Ten Commish: The Conference Could Expand Beyond USC, UCLA
Tandaian replied to Notalot's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Taking a reduced share at first makes sense. However, if they try to make it permanent, how do they justify it when Oregon has bigger TV ratings than half of the full share membership? Why should schools not pulling their weight keep receiving full share? It would have to be done very carefully. I still think football and basketball could make their own divisions, but then the rest of sports divide by region. There is next to no positive revenue in any other sports, so you don't lose anything by keeping teams regional. -

Mike Leach's Plan to Fix College Football
Tandaian replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Why would the top 10 teams go for that? Manning isn't going to play for Kansas football. I do like some of the ideas though. Tie in graduation and staying at the same school for incentives. -
Big Ten Commish: The Conference Could Expand Beyond USC, UCLA
Tandaian replied to Notalot's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I admit I dislike Notre Dame with a passion. How is a single school worth 75 million a year? I don't think any other school could go out on their own and ask for that type of money. I get how they try to value schools by location with high population, but Notre Dame TV numbers don't add up. Especially, when it is only ND home games. NBC and CBS have had college football, so I'm curious why there isn't more from them in trying to get the Pac 12 or Big 12. Although, they do have NFL, so there is that. -
Canzano: George Kliavkoff Will Face the Music at Pac-12 Media Day
Tandaian replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
USC may have deserved the punishment, but the conference is supposed to be there to support their schools. Pac 12 didn't do that for USC, while other schools doing the same stuff had the backing of their conference. I'm not sure which way is correct. -
Big Ten Commish: The Conference Could Expand Beyond USC, UCLA

It would be sort of funny if UCLA/USC always played night games in all sports. -

Reports 24.5 Million Per Pac 12 Team From ESPN
Tandaian replied to curtisd316's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Um, ESPN is being a really bad negotiating partner. In 2011, the Pac 12 signed a 12 year deal for 225 mil per season. So, 18.75 mil per team. Sports has more than doubled in price, so even with the LA market gone, they are low balling the Pac 12 big time. Do we know if this TV deal is for 100% content or are we still relying on the Pac 12 network? -
San Diego State Seen As Essential to Pac-12
Tandaian replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Remember even though it is football focused, they need to think about all sports. As a whole sporting program UNLV > Boise St. I'm not sure the Pac 12 offers more than the Big 12 to BYU. -
San Diego State Seen As Essential to Pac-12
Tandaian replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
My guess is the first 5(?) years of the new conference member is given less than a full share of TV revenue. Once they have their feet wet in the Pac 12, then they get full share. You are correct McDuck, if the new members are never given full share, then they likely wouldn't be competitive. -

Win a title and get paid. However, I don't think any coach should have a contract longer than 4 years. They can keep renewing it, but it is just silly to have such a long contract. Especially, when they pretty much redo them before they are complete any way. Is This the Next Logical Step for Conferences?
Tandaian replied to Kurt Rambis's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Most universities get federal money, I have a feeling Fox and ESPN might be getting a smack down soon. I know there was a big ta do when conferences fought for their own TV money, but I have a feeling it will be full circle. Also, what are the exact rules for CFP? Aren't there 11-12 people one from each conference and ND making decisions? Is there enough eyes for B1G Ten and SEC to just say, we are going to have our own thing? I know they have a majority of the major names, but if you take away everybody else, is it really the same thing? -
Athletes are still able to move freely, but have to make a decision in a small time frame. I think it is a great idea.

Canzano: Here's Hoping the Rose Bowl Makes It
Tandaian replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nice find McDuck. If that is the case, it would be sweet if Pasadena said sorry, no B1G Ten games can be played here. Of course, they won't do that because they get a lot of money from football games. However, if is fun to think of them pulling the stadium from UCLA. -
Canzano: Here's Hoping the Rose Bowl Makes It
Tandaian replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
With the Rose Bowl owned by UCLA, I'm not sure the Pac 12 have any say in the matter. It is a terrible stadium. The sight lines are terrible. Everything is old and worn. -
Why would BYU jump on the Pac 12 ship, when it already has hitched their wagon to the Big 12?
-
It might dilute the TV money, but getting back to 12 would be a wise decision for the Pac 12. San Diego St. and UNLV make the most sense. San Diego St. has been good in football and men's hoops recently. If they get real money, they can likely stay there. UNLV has been good in the past in men's hoops and with money hopefully they can be in football.
