For the optics of the Pac-12, we don't want WSU to beat USC. We don't want the Pac-12 to cannibalize themselves. Makes the Pac-12 look weaker than it is. I dislike USC as much as everybody else, but we need them to only lose to Utah and maybe UCLA, if UCLA beats Utah. UW can't lose to anybody else except the Ducks and maybe WSU.

Ducks, Huskies, Cardinal, Bears to B1G? Not So Fast...
Tandaian replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is funny to me the B1G TEN picks and chooses when TV market and TV numbers matter. The Ducks and Huskies have better actual TV numbers than half of the B1G TEN, but the numbers don't add up. UW, Cal and Stanford have a TV market bigger than half of the B1G TEN, but the numbers don't add up. Some articles have said UCLA/USC sports will be paying 10-20 mil more in travel expenses after joining the B1G TEN. If they make 40 mil more per year, that extra 20 mil is worth it. If 4 more Pac 12 teams are added, I suppose the extra cost goes down by half? Not to mention, the number of sports USC/UCLA play and the B1G TEN don't or the other way around. Adding teams to the CFP doesn't close the financial gap between conferences. If it is like the NCAA basketball tournament, it will actually widen the gap for the B1G TEN and SEC. Extra teams mean extra money for those conferences. -
Can't have it a one way street. So, if a coach sits a player, but the player wants to play, should the player get double his scholarship? More NIL money? There are a million different reasons for everybody making their own decisions. It definitely sucks and can cause issues within the team, but the coaches need to focus on the players that want to play. If a kid decides to sit out the season, as a coach, I see no reason for him to be at practice. Deciding not to play has consequences. Not practicing with the team will hurt the players development.

I noticed the players not singing along to shout, but the crowd was just as rowdy as ever. I think he could probably allow the 4th and 5th string guys sing along. Half the team was with Lanning and the other half was away from him. The guys away could sing and dance.

The Pac 12 really needs to have a pecking order. We can't have UCLA beat UW then lose to Cal. As much as I would prefer OSU to beat Utah this weekend, with OSU already having a loss, the Pac 12 looks better if Utah wins.

Ducks take over the #1 spot in the Pac 12 from USC. 12. Oregon Ducks ESPN 300 commits: 10 | Previous ranking: 13 Pac-12 rank: 1 of 12 Top offensive commit: QB Dante Moore (No. 3) Top defensive commit: DT A'Mauri Washington (No. 85) New head coach Dan Lanning led Georgia's championship defense last year but now focuses on trying to build a similar unit with the Ducks. He is assembling a talented group for the secondary led by Caleb Presley, a rangy corner who can be a playmaker in coverage and doesn't hesitate to support the run. CB Cole Martin was another good pickup, as he possesses good feet and upside, and CB Kodi Decambra loves to compete and should quickly contribute to the special teams unit. They also landed a nice addition in top-10 DT Washington, a big, powerful and explosive lineman out of Arizona. Despite his strong defensive background, Lanning's first full class at Oregon is defined by promising offensive talent. A huge win was QB Moore, as the five-star recruit has a quick release and good feet and displays good accuracy. The Ducks also have landed some big targets for their passing attack in the 6-foot-3 Ashton Cozart, who is long and fast and posted a laser-timed 4.45 40 at the Dallas Under Armour camp, and Jurrion Dickey, who had an MVP performance at the UC Report Elite camp in Oakland, California, this spring. 13. USC Trojans ESPN 300 commits: 4 | Previous ranking: 12 Pac-12 rank: 2 of 12 Top offensive commit: QB Malachi Nelson (No. 1) Top defensive commit: LB Tackett Curtis (No. 75) Lincoln Riley is adding players who could create an explosive offensive unit for the Trojans. Two key in-state pickups who were planning to join Riley at Oklahoma flipped to their hometown school when Riley made the change. Nelson, the top-rated prospect in the nation, is a passer with a smooth release and the ability to make tough throws on the move. WR Makai Lemon, his high school teammate, has good hands and quickness. WR Zachariah Branch, out of Las Vegas, is one the fastest players in this class and can be an electrifying playmaker with the ball in his hands. The Trojans also added some defensive talent, led by Curtis, a tough and physical player with good range. Strengthening play in the trenches is key, and the Trojans added two D-line commitments, led by Samuel Greene, an explosive DT with active hands out of powerhouse program St. Frances in Maryland.

WSU did get their normal 4 downs. 1st Down: Intentional grounding. 2nd Down: Rush for 1 yard gain. 3rd Down: Rush for 6 yard gain. 4th Down: Punt Would WSU have ran it on 2nd down if they would have known it was 2nd down, likely not. However, it was an actual offensive play, so it had to count as a play. That is why they gave the ball back and made it 3rd down.

Nolan needs to stop throwing INTs.

Are You Aware of These Accomplishments from Today's Game?
Tandaian replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Sacks only happen on pass plays. The sneak was never a pass play. However, I was also curious to see if they counted that as a Sack or not. WSU had plenty tackle for losses on us. -
Miami Got Beat by..Middle Tennessee?
Tandaian replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Mario destroys QBs. He won't last his contract. I'd like to know the buyout amount. Mario is a great human, great talker, great recruiter, but not a great HC. If he let his OC actually be the OC, it would work for him. -
I thought the Fox crew did a good job explaining what happened. They didn't go to 2nd down, because they did run the ball. Would they have ran it on 2nd down if they knew it was 2nd down. Probably not, but it was an actual offensive play and not a punt.

With USC and OSU both 3-0, it doesn't really matter who wins as long as the Pac 12 HAS to HAVE a pecking order. If OSU wins, then we need them to win the rest of their games and then lose to us. If USC wins, they can only lose to Utah. Obviously, my preference would be for the Ducks to win out and represent the Pac 12 in the CFP, but if that doesn't happen, OSU, WSU, Utah or UW would work. USC/UCLA doesn't increase confidence in the PAC12 as they are out the door.

Media Rights: 'Uncomfortable Truths About the Pac-12'
Tandaian replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It seems to be a consistent message that the Pac 12 is going to share revenue evenly. If USC and UCLA wanted a bigger slice of the pie, how do you remedy that? I do like the idea of successful schools get a larger portion of the bowl money, march madness money, playoffs, etc... You don't take everything away, but when only a few schools have been successful at football and basketball, they do deserve a bit more of the revenue. -
I thought Charles asked us to stop posting about this incident as it could lead us down the wrong path?

There are looming sanctions. Nobody is going to want to touch that job, until after they know what restrictions will be placed on them.

Here is How to Eliminate the Night Games FOREVER
Tandaian replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Streaming absolutely wouldn't end night games for the Pac 12. Every TV station or streamer wants the most possible eyes watching games. Let's say you have tOSU vs Mich, Alabama vs Georgia, Oklahoma vs Texas, Clemson vs Miami all on the same day. Do you believe the Pac 12 would stream a game on at the same time those teams are playing, if there was no game showing at night? Streaming could help reduce some night games, but it is all about eye balls. Why do you think the NFL only shows 1 or 2 games at the same time? Why do you think the NFL shows certain teams in certain areas? Streaming would not be a cure all for night games. I'm a season ticket holder in Eugene and I would prefer kick off no later than 5:00, but since we are on the west coast and in the PST, I know we won't ever fully get rid of night games. -
@Mudslide What are you referring to about not having apple devices? My family doesn't own a single apple device either, but we can still stream. 100% understand not liking Amazon. Unfortunately, when we are talking about sports, they rarely care about the older demographics. They want to get people hooked when they are in their teens. Anybody with kids, knows you need to have good internet at home. Having a good internet connection is not an issue with the demographic they are trying to get. Bars would pay an extra $50-$100 a month for better internet, it would be a drop in the bucket. It is easier than you think to set up 10-20 TVs. It doesn't take as many devices as you think.

If Amazon gave the Pac 12 crazy money, I don't have a problem going 100% streaming. Streaming means you could have all Pac 12 teams playing at the same time and every fan of a Pac 12 school could watch their team play and not worry about ESPN/Fox choosing which game will have the highest TV rating. The people who care/matter about college football will watch the game no matter how the game is shown. If you have cable/satellite, then you can stream. There have been some arguments about rural area having problems seeing games. 90% of games are on ESPN or Fox Sports, so there already is limited games in rural areas. Streaming isn't going to dramatically reduce viewership.
