  1. Without their takedowns of Oklahoma and washington, I wouldn't be taking them seriously given their regular season competition. But geez, I'm glad Oregon is facing them at home.
  2. Welcome to academia ( with regards to the " herding a bunch of crazy cats" comment).
  3. Charles, I really hope this works out so you and your moderators can have more well-deserved time to yourselves, If it doesn't work out, well then, shazbot.
  4. Thanks, Charles, for creating this space, and thanks Charles and moderators for keeping it safe. This is absolutely the best place on the internet.
  5. In general, I think no one's time is worth 1.5 million dollars per year. AND, I love watching Bo Nix play. I guess I just need to keep learning how to become more comfortable with change and absurdity, given that I don't have control over any of it.
  6. I'm looking forward to Bo & Co. shredding Colorado. I've never been a fan of Deion Sanders' arrogance.
  7. College football's 10 most important conference games of 2023 season, ranked 247SPORTS-COM.CDN.AMPPROJECT.ORG
  8. Maybe I just want to be optimistic, but jumping from an offensive line coach to an offensive coordinator in the NFL seems improbable. Does he have any experience as an offensive coordinator at the college level?
  9. Geez, I want the Ducks to be like Georgia when they grow up.
  10. Boy, those two schools in Los Angeles are poorly representing the Pac-12 in bowl games this year. I think we should kick them out of the conference.
  11. ⁸ At the end of the day, I guess all any of us have is doing the best we can and getting lucky. I'm glad things bounced Georgia's way this time. As with so many other people here, I am very impressed with that team and with the Georgia fans who have become a much welcomed part of this forum.
  12. It's strangely comforting to a duck fan to know that even Georgia's defense isn't immortal!
  13. Does anyone know if any Georgia defensive starters opted out for this semifinal game, or was Ohio State's offense and game plan just that good? I couldn't believe that Georgia gave up that many points.
  14. I like the apple green and yellow uniforms they wore in the Beavers game the best. I like the nightmare green uniforms the least, maybe largely because they show up as dark brown on TV, like the article mentioned.
  15. I wonder if part of the equation for Bo, assuming he hasn't already made his decision, involves waiting to see what kind of offensive lineman we get through the portal. Playing behind a line that could be much less capable than the stellar O-line he played behind this year seemingly wouldn't go far toward boosting his NFL stock.
  16. Storm Duck would make a great transfer portal Christmas present.
  17. They have to wait until the next season starts ( that is, any portal transfers we get before the bowl game cannot play in the bowl game).
  18. Yes, this forum offers one stop shopping for Ducks fans, and Pennsylvania duck is a big part of the reason why. Thank you!
  19. Geez, by that metric, Bo Nix is twice as worthy of winning the Heisman.
  20. I personally feel nothing painful about an entirely new coaching staff coming in, installing entirely new offensive and defensive schemes largely with players recruited to play Cristobal's "schemes", and going 9-3. I also don't personally understand how anyone can see "nothing positive" about this season under those circumstances. I see an optimism and a potential in Dan Lanning's Ducks that I haven't felt since Chip left.
  21. I don't see Bo coming back. The quality and experience of Oregon's offensive line is going to see a significant if not big drop next year due to the departure of so many multi-year veterans. IMHO, I don't see how he could perform as well behind a lesser offensive line, and I'm guessing he's thinking that as well. And if he doesn't perform as well, you would think his draft stock would fall.
  22. All things considered, we had a better season than I thought we would back in August. I had very little faith in Bo Nix then and thought there was too much hype from some quarters about a head coach and an offensive coordinator that were taking those positions for the first time. Now, I'm very happy we had all of them, even though we only got to keep Dillingham for a little while. And, like others, I thought our defense was going to be markedly better than they were
  23. That's a mystery to me as well. I think there's another possibility here. Most of us, including me, think that Oregon's new coaches are uniformly good at improving players at all positions. What if the coaches responsible for improving quarterback play are not so good? Nix had a lot of experience coming in, was matched to an offensive coordinator that he meshed well with earlier in his career, and was presumably coached up and then definitely given free reign to change play calls based on his defensive reads. You could argue that it didn't take a lot of coaching to take Nix to that next level. It would take a lot of good coaching to take a relatively raw recruit like Ty Thompson to the next level. If this tentative theory is correct, I don't think it would necessarily be the coaches fault.. From my outside perspective, the quarterback position is the most complicated position in football. They are responsible for so many things, so it follows that there are so many skills that coaches have to shape. I'm just spitballing here. Not trying to criticize anyone. I love this team, and I especially love this year's team, with all the unexpected achievement, fun, and enjoyment they've given us. Just trying to understand what's going on with Ty Thompson, and hoping that young man goes on to have a great career.
