Yeah, who would have thought, it's not like this isn't how sports worked for like......ever. -

Game ball goes to Bittle, Shelstad had a good game, but Bittle just took over and carried the team on his back when they needed him the most, Dante like performance by him. If he can play like that, Oregon will have a shot to do damage. -

He made another shot in the game 30! That's quite a take by him, he certainly has the alpha dog mentality to take that sort of shot. -

The team is just different when Shelsted is shooting well, he is so important as a scoring point guard. -

Bittle basically carrying the team on his back, great effort by him. -

Some day we'll be a good shooting team, some day, I don't know when but we'll have to luck into a team that actually shoots well again at some point. It has to happen at some point. -

Yeah, I'm hopeful it will happen, really disappointing to see this effort, Shelsted has to begin playing better, he's been pretty bad the entire year. -

Horrible, absolutely horrible half, slow, weak, completely getting embarrassed out there, that is truly pathetic effort against a mediocre opponent, means more to one team. -

Pretty unacceptable half so far, one team looks like they want it, the other just wants to jack up threes, get it together! Awful defense, weak weak weak -
WBB: Coverage of Women's Basketball Program

One thing to be excited about is that the best player Deja Kelly didn't even have a good shooting night, she's been a bit cold recently, she's doing a great job though providing and getting rebounds. Seems like a team that cares, a lot of players from recent years don't seem to have that dog in them, they would crumple up under any sort of pressure. I'll admit I really did not like a lot of the players from recent years, luckily all of them are gone now. -
Klatt Gets it Exactly Right About the Ducks!
spartan2785 replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I said it before, I think Klatt is a pretty fair commentator, he's given us plenty of props in the past, just because he might have had some questions about us doesn't mean there's an agenda. Coming into the season I was more bullish on Ohio St. than Oregon, I still think the two teams are about as even as possible. You can change your mind over the course of a season. -
I think if we played in the SEC we would have one loss, it's a league where I don't think the elite are any better and maybe slightly worse than the B1G, but the middle of the league is better I think. I would take the number 5 team in the SEC over the B1G. The dregs of the conference are about the same. Auburn, Miss. St., Arkansas are all about the same as UW, UCLA, Maryland (those types). In the end it depends who we play. We play Texas' schedule we are undefeated I think, we play Georgia's schedule we have one or two losses I think. It's hard to say since the two leagues barely ever play each other. I also don't take bowl games to be much of an indicator, even before opt outs, the SEC has home field advantage in basically every bowl game they play since they're all in the South.

There is no right method, there will always be controversy, the beauty of the playoffs now is that in the end the teams will be able to fight it out on the field. The problem that football has compared to basketball is that there aren't many games, so schedule of strength is always going to be an issue, some years in the future Georgia will have an easy schedule over Texas, this year it just so happens that Georgia has a gauntlet. Indiana will in the future get a hard schedule compared to this year, it comes and goes. This has gotten worse with expansion since you can't play even close to everyone in your league. The second problem is that while there are always those that complain about how so and so got screwed in who got into march madness, in the end very few people talk about how the 69th or 70th placed team would have won it all if they had just gotten in. With football you could make that argument, one of the top SEC team is going to be left out, I don't think Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Georgia, and Bama all get in. One of those team will have a somewhat valid argument that they could win it all. I really don't envy the people that make up these committees who make the various brackets for post season play.

It's a huge plus if he's able to get up to 100% before the playoffs, it's pretty apparent that he provides the nous to make Stein's offense go. Without him we don't have the same type of zone buster, he able to get open, he provides sure hands, and he knows how to get to the sticks when we need it. Stewart has done an admirable job attempting to be WR1 but he just isn't the same type of receiver that Tez is, he's a deep threat primarily, and the last couple weeks shows how that ability is diminished when they don't have Tez.
-
I really love this defense, saving us from Stein and Lanning's play calling
-
Lanning, what was that!? We deserve to lose for calling that
-
It's not the injuries, it's not, it's horrible horrible play calling, horrible QB play, horrible line play, just a horrible half of uninspired ball by a team that thought they just had to show up.
-
Embarrassing performance from the offense in this half, Gabriel has to be better, has to realize you can't check down every time on 3rd down, push the ball down the field!!!! O-line has to man up. Unacceptable half.

Finebaum Goes After CFP Committee and B1G Teams
spartan2785 replied to David Marsh's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This!!!!!!! This is such an important point, it's ridiculous they have been able to get away with this. It's only now that the schedules for some of these teams has seemed daunting, most years, SEC teams have had their one or two tough games, but overall teams like USC, Vandy, Miss St. are gimmies, and teams had multiple gimmies, compounded by their annual beat down of VMI or Jacksonville St. in November. -
Curious about the likelihood of some of the players that have been out for awhile coming back next year. Florence, Kasper, Bedford, Fields, and others. In the world we now live in, I wonder if these guys are being held out so that they can get the extra year or they're going to transfer and don't want to risk getting injured now after coming back from injury.

Finebaum Goes After CFP Committee and B1G Teams
spartan2785 replied to David Marsh's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Paul is a stooge, he has no credibility in the fact that he shills for his conference, he doesn't attend games in other conferences, I don't think he even watches many games from other conferences, he has a rooting interest, so why should anyone listen to what he says. It's all a part of ESPN's plan to rig the system. -
Well.......in the end they all count as a win. Have to have better shot selection, too many threes when they weren't falling. They kept fighting, they showed some intensity on defense. I actually like the makeup of this team. Tracey follows in the tradition of guys like Elgin Cook, Kazemi, Ennis, Omoruyi, undersized but absolute gamers who fight for everything. Quickly becoming one of my favorite guys of the last few years. I think we'll be pretty good despite this game. You can tell we have the type of roster that works for how Altman wants to play. We have two ball handlers, Bamba had a poor night but he's a proven shooter and defender. Moss looks like he can really D it up and while he isn't a great shooter he can provide strength and some ability to drive the basketball. Angel will provide shooting as a stretch 4. This is probably our deepest team in a long while if we can stay healthy. The guy that I really worry about is Evans, he just disappears for entire games, he has talent, but I don't think he has one skill that is truly deserving of a 5 star rating. He doesn't shoot well, he isn't a monster on the boards, he doesn't drive the basketball that well, he isn't dominate as a defender. He's athletic, but it's not like he's a freak. We need him to take the next step, and I don't know if he has it in him. One point is pathetic against a team like Portland. Finally with Shelsted, I'm not sure where he goes this season, he needs to improve as a true point, he's more a scorer right now, at least we have a decent backup in Barthelemey who absolutely save Oregon's bacon tonight.

Should the Heisman Award Date be Moved?
spartan2785 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nahhh, was Jayden Daniels on the best team? Lemar Jackson? Ron Dayne? Barry Sanders? Bo Jackson? Doug Flutie? It's an award for the best player, the best player could be on a 7-4 team that without him would be 3-9, it's not likely to happen, but it's possible. -

I like Gabriel, I really do, he's done a great job, he isn't as dominant at his position as Hunter or Jeanty. He has the benefit of playing for a much much better team. If it's a decision between Ward and Gabriel that one is more interesting I think. Ward has led some great comebacks, but those comebacks are against fairly average teams, Oregon has certainly played a much tougher schedule. Ward probably has been more flashy, but Gabriel has the most high profile win and moment I would argue. In the end give me Jeanty all day, I think college football will be better if it's proven a smaller school player can win the award, especially being a non-QB -
This could be a blessing in disguise, like David Marsh said it will allow Rodgers to get game time that should help him for next year. We will be playing next year with almost a completely new O-line, so getting a guy like Rodgers some time will most likely be a good thing. I would be hopeful that with the teams we have left it won't make much of a difference until Harper is able to come back. Feels like having a consistent player at center will help compared to Pickett getting blown up ever play at such a crucial position. The line has a lot more continuity as well now compared to the start of the season.
