  1. Oh well, can't blame the guy although this hurts as well. Just having "Alabama" on your resume increases your NFL draft potential and of course, the probability is very high that he'll be playing in at least one natty during his time there.
  2. I hope KT becomes the next LT 2.0. He definitely has the skill set.
  3. I think the PAC-12 in recent history has matched up quite well with B1G teams generally speaking. If you take the Rose Bowl, for example, since 1990 the PAC-12 holds an 14-11 edge over B1G teams during that span. If you just count the Rose Bowl since 2000, the PAC-12 holds a 10-5 edge over B1G teams. OBD had major regular season victories over Michigan in the past, recently against tOSU and so on. Wazzu and UW had victories against Wisconsin and Michigan State respectively this past season to name a few. Of course, we are 0-1 against tOSU in the natty, but to be fair, many of Oregon's skill players were out or otherwise did not play in that game. Oregon still may have lost that game even with everyone playing but at least I would like to think the final score would have been much closer. The PAC-12 does suffer from a perception problem which is definitely not helped when the few PAC-12 games that viewers in the East Coast watch are Oregon getting dismantled by Georgia 49-3 and then of course, that becomes the overall perception of the conference. As an aside, I feel that Oregon should not have lost by that big a margin - I think our players were just nervous being on the national stage against the defending national champs who are from the "invincible" SEC and got very much intimidated by that. JMHO But yeah, I also hope that USC and UCLA regularly get destroyed in the B1G when they move over there lol
  4. Oh well - we win some, we lose some. Two of the best QB's in Duck history were rated at 3-stars coming out of high school - Marcus Mariota and Justin Herbert. Both were also 1st round NFL draft picks. Unfortunately, Mariota's career didn't quite pan out as hoped. Admittedly, losing Dante Moore stings. But perhaps that is the better thing for both him and us. I've been reading some rantings on U of Michigan articles on DM that they grew tired of his supposedly prima donna attitude and that Oregon would be wise to let him go as well. So maybe not all is lost with DM's flip to UCLA. Anyways, we got Bo back, so the future looks bright for next season. However, the Ducks do need to find a viable back-up/future starter either through the portal or recruiting one out of high school. I would probably worry more about the QB fitting the system rather than the star power. IMHO, many 3-star rated QB's have a chip on their shoulders and feel like they have something to prove - so theoretically they'll work harder to be the best they can be. Just my 2 cents FWIW.
  5. You have a valid point there. But if the remaining PAC-12 teams keep winning the OOC games that matter and do well in the CFP, those should take care of themselves - at least to a degree. In Oregon's case, I attended during the lean years when Oregon was a team that others would schedule for their homecoming when they needed a gimme. Never in a million years at the time would I have thought that Oregon would play in a couple of natties, let alone win a couple of Rose Bowls, or even be attractive to blue-chip talent. And look where we're at now. To be sure, losing USC and UCLA is big blow to the PAC for now. But winning cures everything.
  6. Ex-Kent St. QB Collin Schlee indicates he's transferring to UCLA WWW.ESPN.COM Quarterback Collin Schlee, who threw for over 2,100 yards and 13 touchdowns this season for Kent State, has indicated that he's... Admittedly, I felt a sense of panic when I was reading all the blurbs about Dante Moore possibly flipping to UCLA. However, according to the ESPN story above, you have ex-Kent St QB Collin Schlee transferring to UCLA as well as four-star quarterback Justin Martyn arriving as a freshman. DM would have more competition to win the starting job at UCLA if he flips there. Assuming Bo stays, DM would have only one year theoretically to ride the bench at Oregon. IMHO that would be beneficial for him to learn the system to take over the starting QB job once Bo leaves. Hopefully DM honors his commitment.
  7. Looks like Wazzu will lose their bowl game unfortunately. Going off on a tangent, I'm sold that Fresno State along with SDSU should be invited to the PAC-12 after the two traitor schools leave. Those two schools fall within the geographic footprint of the PAC-12 and will preserve a SoCal presence for the conference.
  8. Chip's offense doesn't prepare QB's to play in the NFL. Even MC's boring vanilla offense did a better job of doing that.
  9. Lol! Which IMHO, is why Bo needs to let his NFL aspirations be known as soon as possible if indeed that's what he wants to do. Don't get me wrong, I have tons of appreciation for Bo playing a huge part in revitalizing the Oregon offense and leading us to a very good season. Season could've have been better if he wasn't injured with that cheap shot by a Fusky player. By announcing his pro aspirations asap if that is Bo's plan, hopefully that decreases the probability that DM flips to another program -and if DM flips anyway, hopefully that would make Oregon a more attractive destination for Card. And if Bo decides to stay one more year, well, that will be totally awesome.
  10. Saddened to hear this. I was holding out hope that perhaps UCLA would stay in the PAC but it wasn't meant to be I guess. The loss of both USC and UCLA is definitely a serious blow to the PAC. Although I know that there are other factors leading to this, thanks goes out to Mr. Larry Scott for destroying the conference. The only other school that maybe should be added at this point is SDSU. The other schools mentioned in other posts would probably only have a marginal benefit at best to the PAC or otherwise would be a poor fit. This is a call now for the remaining PAC schools to try their darndest to win against both LA schools in their last season in the PAC so they can have proper sendoffs to the B1G with below .500 records.
  11. Yes, unfortunately there is truth to that. Ironically, Mario Cristobal's boring vanilla offensive scheme probably did a better job preparing QB's for the NFL as it's probably closest to the type of offenses run in the league. And yes, hardly anyone shows up to UCLA football games. The Bruins should really try establish some kind of football home closer to campus.
  12. All of the above, with DTR leaving, and Chip Kelly's brand of offense, I'm sure that unfortunately will prove very tempting for Dante Moore to flip.
  13. If I was HC, I would revoke my scholarship offers to these prima donnas and let them be cancers in some other team's locker room. Oregon has won with OKG's before and I don't see why Oregon can't do it again. Obviously, we would like to haul in as many blue-chip players as we can, but more importantly, haul in those blue-chip players who truly want to be at Oregon and work their tails off and compete. One example that was brought up is aTm and its "bought" team. It's not only the talent that makes a winner although of course it helps, but also the work ethic and being team players.
  14. Bo should start. Otherwise he might as well have opted out and start preparing for the NFL combine. Maybe spot TT a series here and there to see how he performs. If Ducks build comfortable enough lead late in the game, then let TT start the rest of the way.
  15. Really happy Utah destroyed the USC Traitors. I hope that the UC Regents override UCLA's decision to move to the B1G and then the PAC adds SDSU to make the conference viable again. Lincoln Riley can take his all offense-no defense act to the B1G and enjoy on average 8-win seasons there. Calling on the rest of the PAC to do their darndest to beat USC in their final PAC season so we can give them a proper send-off with a sub .500 record. If it turns out UCLA is also indeed moving to the B1G, same call for UCLA. That will be awesome for the rest of the PAC to send one or both LA schools to the B1G with below .500 records.
  16. If the Ducks want to win NOW, then yes unfortunately. Unless the next QB enrolling fresh out of high school is the second coming of Marcus Mariota. However, I agree with others on this board that Oregon needs to get back to developing QB's again and stop the vicious cycle of frequently relying on the transfer portal. The downside of that is maybe expect up to 3 to 4 losses in the 1st and possibly 2nd seasons while the QB develops. In our age of instant gratification, many will not be patient enough to go through this.
  17. How about Chris Miller - former Duck QB? He has coaching experience and is a winner; also has Oregon roots, which hopefully provides a higher probability that he doesn't bolt to those dream jobs in either Florida or Arizona...
  18. After reading all of the second-guessing and speculation on what happened in the losses to UW and Oregon State, the root cause really is that cheap shot on Bo Nix by a Fusky defensive player. I would like to think that with a healthy Bo Nix, most if not all the 4th down gambles would have been converted (assuming same game situations) and we would have won at least one, if not both those games. I really hope the Ducks hang 50+ points on those dirty Fuskies while pitching a shutout next season in front of their home crowd... Ok, enough venting for now lol.
  19. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we even end up poaching an assistant at another PAC-12 school to be the Ducks news OC, just like how Tim DeRuyter was poached from Cal to be the Ducks new DC after Andy Avalos departed for Boise State. As to who that would be if that happens is anybody's guess.
  20. Yeah, we got spoiled during the Chip Kelly era. But also remember that Chip's HC gig started out with a loss to Boise State and the infamous Blount punch and all kinds of associated criticism - the rest of Kelly's gig were some of the best years for Duck football ever. If DL and the assistants who are sticking with the Ducks assess what they did right and what they need to change, and learn, we'll be ok. Each era brought high points of their own - Taggart laying the foundation to recruiting blue-chip talent to Eugene, MC coaching the Ducks to their first victory ever over tOSU and winning a Rose Bowl, and so on. Can't wait to see what the DL era will bring to Eugene.
  21. If Wazzu wins, then the Ducks will back into the PAC-12 Championship game against USC. Not the ideal scenario, but here's hoping the Cougs win.
  22. I just hope Wazzu wins. I don't hate that team like I do the Fuskies lol.
  23. Really disappointing. If we had just taken FG's when the opportunities presented themselves instead of gambling on 4th down, we'd more likely would have escaped with a victory. And we were playing at the Beavers home field so that possibly could have been a factor in their comeback. Just to put a little perspective, DL's first year record as a HC is actually not bad. Even Pete Carroll, Nick Saban and Kirby Smart didn't win 9 regular-season games in their 1st seasons as HC at USC 'Bama and Georgia respectively. All eventually turned out to be just fine lol. I guess what makes the losses sting nonetheless are 2 of the games we lost were actually very winnable, but due in large part to poor decisions, we lost and to our two biggest arch-rivals. Nobody thought the Ducks had a realistic chance of beating Georgia, so that loss was expected - although at the same time we shouldn't have lost by as large a margin as we did. I'm sure DL will learn from this season and next season will hopefully go even better than this one. On to the Holiday Bowl I guess. Go Ducks!
  24. I tend to agree with another poster on this board where if the money's right, the challenge of putting out the dumpster fire at ASU and rebuilding the program from the ground up and making it his own may prove to be an alluring challenge for KD. Plus of course, as many have said, KD is an ASU alum and grew up in Arizona. I really hope that he does stay with Oregon for at least a little while longer. Although of course it will be disappointing, we can't blame the guy either for bolting back home so to speak. Also unfortunately, expect maybe a handful of his recruits to follow him to ASU should he become HC there. I'm sure DL has a short list of OC's he can call on to become the the new OC for the Ducks should KD accept the position at ASU. Heck, if we even become that desperate, Mark Helfrich or Scott Frost are available lol - Oregon's O was actually still pretty explosive under these coaches, it's just the D that was terrible due to poor DC hires that tanked Helfrich's last season at Oregon lol.
