OregonDucks No. 10 Share Posted Sunday at 01:17 AM As I said on the game thread, E-Stew is the best pass catcher that I have seen in an Oregon uniform. IMO, he has an opportunity to be a team's #1 wide receiver in the NFL given his athletic ability, pass catching ability and route running. One of the best things about my time in the Navy was being stationed in Bremerton, and going to watch the Seahawks, and Steve Largent. Mael reminded me of him. Stewart is great, Maehl was great, Ahmad Rashad (Bobby Moore), all Pac-8 WR, switched and became all Pac-8 RB. Bunch of great Duck pass catchers!! My vote for the most clutch Oregon receiver would go to Keenan Howry. I don’t remember him ever dropping a pass and he always seemed to pick up that key 3rd and long. He is also responsible for one of my favorite Duck plays when he took the Beaver punt to the house to win the game for the Ducks. Unfortunately it could be the difference between winning and losing the conference championship against Ohio State. It's a huge loss. We have a tool box loaded with studs that are quite capable of picking up the slack if given the opportunity. The ducks have 3 tight ends and several wideouts that can catch the ball and YAC their way down the field. Dillon seems quite capable of getting the ball to whoever is running the routes. It has been clear to me the talent level (and depth) of the WR room is the best OBD have ever had. I felt bad for Holden because he missed out (on his food on the table in the Ohio State game). His mental mistake really cost him. The fact that Lowe stepped in and nearly produced at Holden's level has been amazing. DG is a beast. He really knows his team. Stein has also stepped up, because he is getting the ball in everyone's hands. There is so much talent at the skill positions that Stein can't distribute enough to everyone every game. But Stein is making sure each player makes a significant impact (he and DG that is). We Need Tez Johnson. He opens up opportunities for the others better than anyone else does. That doesn't mean the talent at the skill position on offense is done without him. I honestly do not believe there is a defense in college football that can stop this offense. There is just too much talent. It really hinges on eliminating as many mistakes as possible. This team has a really good shot at winning it all. What is interesting, at least by my count, since 1990, the NFL has drafted 10 Oregon QB’s, and 8 receivers. I dont know the metrics the NFL uses to evaluate WR talent, but Oregon’s WR’s are often overlooked. Evan Stewart is a good one, but WR has to be one of the more difficult positions to have the speed, size, and agility that the NFL desires in any given draft year. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
