Agreed……..and Lowe is really coming on now, and Holden is back, too. But Tez is special, and it will a significant loss if the injury keeps him out for an extended period. I'm betting on a collarbone injury, and thus he is probably done for the season, unfortunately. 1 Mr. FishDuck

I hope you’re a lousy bettor. There’s just something about Tez……every time he touches the ball you’re immediately on the edge of your seat.

Herbert broke his collarbome and was out for six weeks. The thing is with the playoff is that those games don't start until the end of December. He could be back for the playoff. 1

Yep, we would miss him for the B1G Championship, but I'd be grateful to have him back for the Playoffs. Great to see others step up today... OregonDucks No. 10 Share Posted November 3 As I said on the game thread, E-Stew is the best pass catcher that I have seen in an Oregon uniform. IMO, he has an opportunity to be a team's #1 wide receiver in the NFL given his athletic ability, pass catching ability and route running. He just has to keep working on his craft.

The Kamikaze Kid Moderator No. 12 Share Posted November 3 Maehl had 197 yards in a championship game including a tough do or die catch for a two point conversion to tie the score late. To me, that is the bar. PS Stewart is freaking awesome.

Maehl was a good receiver but I don’t recall him ever catching a one handed pass, in the back of the end zone, like E-Stew did today. Few receivers can and Coach Lanning said that E-Stew does it all the time in practice. E-Stew has a chance to be a high draft pick and have a long, successful career in the NFL. His upside is a lot higher than Maehl’s. Edited November 3 by OregonDucks 1
The Kamikaze Kid Moderator No. 16 Share Posted November 3 Stewart has made some absolutely incredible catches and wins on style points. Maehl was the most clutch receiver I have ever scene. There's room for both on my fantasy team.

One of the best things about my time in the Navy was being stationed in Bremerton, and going to watch the Seahawks, and Steve Largent. Mael reminded me of him. Stewart is great, Maehl was great, Ahmad Rashad (Bobby Moore), all Pac-8 WR, switched and became all Pac-8 RB. Bunch of great Duck pass catchers!! My vote for the most clutch Oregon receiver would go to Keenan Howry. I don’t remember him ever dropping a pass and he always seemed to pick up that key 3rd and long. He is also responsible for one of my favorite Duck plays when he took the Beaver punt to the house to win the game for the Ducks. Not the biggest or most athletic receiver but an incredibly route runner with great hands.

Haywarduck Moderator No. 22 Share Posted November 3 It was interesting when the pundit pointed out the gloves and pondered if he could have caught the ball without them. If you looked at how Stewarts hand was in the perfect position, I think he catches it without gloves too. It was a thing of absolute beauty, an beastly! I didn't realize that Holden had 149 yards (24.8 YPC) until I saw the box score. Huge game! We'll need him to step up big time, if Tez is expected to miss multiple games. Unfortunately it could be the difference between winning and losing the conference championship against Ohio State. It's a huge loss. Some of those 3 and outs yesterday don't happen if Tez is on the field instead of Lowe.
Just Ducky No. 25 Share Posted November 3 For some reason I’m not worried about Tez missing a couple of games although he will be missed. We have a tool box loaded with studs that are quite capable of picking up the slack if given the opportunity. The ducks have 3 tight ends and several wideouts that can catch the ball and YAC their way down the field. Dillon seems quite capable of getting the ball to whoever is running the routes. Thank god for Dan and his ability to recruit possibly the best roster in college football.
Mike West No. 26 Share Posted November 3 What has impressed me the most is the fact Lowe has stepped up. Stewart of course has been amazing. It has been clear to me the talent level (and depth) of the WR room is the best OBD have ever had. I felt bad for Holden because he missed out (on his food on the table in the Ohio State game). His mental mistake really cost him. The fact that Lowe stepped in and nearly produced at Holden's level has been amazing. DG is a beast. He really knows his team. Stein has also stepped up, because he is getting the ball in everyone's hands. There is so much talent at the skill positions that Stein can't distribute enough to everyone every game. But Stein is making sure each player makes a significant impact (he and DG that is). We Need Tez Johnson. He opens up opportunities for the others better than anyone else does. That doesn't mean the talent at the skill position on offense is done without him. I honestly do not believe there is a defense in college football that can stop this offense. There is just too much talent. It really hinges on eliminating as many mistakes as possible. This team has a really good shot at winning it all. It's all about execution now.
Drake Moderator No. 27 Share Posted November 3 Oregon has had many great college level receivers, with memorable catches and great performances in games. What is interesting, at least by my count, since 1990, the NFL has drafted 10 Oregon QB’s, and 8 receivers. I dont know the metrics the NFL uses to evaluate WR talent, but Oregon’s WR’s are often overlooked. Evan Stewart is a good one, but WR has to be one of the more difficult positions to have the speed, size, and agility that the NFL desires in any given draft year.
