I don't think you do, you still have the playoffs, if they end up out of the playoffs then you might pull the trigger, but I think you have to wait to see if they're in it.  I don't think the players would respond well if you fired him right now.  If he end up in the championship game, or wins the whole thing then he's redeemed himself, if he doesn't then you can show him the door immediately and get the search going in earnest.

It goes to, has "Day lost the room".  Looking back he obviously didn't do a great job of getting the team ready to play, where Moore at Michigan had his guys fired up. It's going to be interesting how the team handles this loss. Day's seat is HOT now. do the players want to win to save his job?

Agree with this.  You are still in the playoffs, so I don’t see them firing Day right now.  However, a first round exit in the playoff might do it.  He better win a couple games.

I think there going to have a hard time replacing him with someone better but at some point they have to show him the door.

Agree on this point.

Reminds me of the 49ers right now. Great coach, IMO, but may have lost his voice in the locker room.

I would wait until season end before making a move.

Yeah, no way you fire him when you're headed to the playoffs. That would get an AD fired.

But certainly at this point, if they lose the first game in the playoffs, Day is done. If he wins one or more he probably hangs on for another year, depending on what other coaches are available.

How far has Chip fallen? Didn’t think he could go any lower after his NFL firings and then UCLA. 10 points against Michigan at home with the athletes he has at his disposal?

No.

I sincerely hope that we (the Duck Fans) never experience what it feels like to think you need to fire your coach for a 2 loss season.

That sort of entitlement just galls me.

Ryan Day's record against two Big10 programs is abysmal:

Michigan: 0-4

Oregon: 0-2

😁

As long as his seat is hot through signing day, that’s good enough for me.

Fan base seems to think Vrabel is the guy.

In a tweet posted today James Crepea labeled Chip as a coach the game passed by 10 years ago.

Having lived in Ohio for three and a half years and watching the OSU fan base, I know how impatient and intolerant they can be. So the demands to fire Day are to be expected, In fact, I predicted in an earlier post after the loss to Oregon that Day's seat was warming and would be red hot if he somehow managed to lose to Michigan a fourth time. It is all now playing out, and at a bad time I might add, for Ohio State players who will soon start prepping as a lower seed for the playoffs.

Maybe not today, but...... he's got.......

IIRC, Nebraska did that and hasn’t been the same since.

Let's face facts... OSU was undone after visiting 'That Team Out West.'

Oregon pretty much broke them.

Unless Day wins the national championship this season, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ohio State fires him after this season. The expectations in Columbus are sky high (even Buckeye legend Kirk Herbstreit moved away because he couldn’t deal with the fans).

Day looks miserable (perhaps he’s just a miserable person) but it could be doing him a favor. That pressure cooker can’t be good for his health.

Lots of talk on Ohio State blogs about hiring Marcus Freeman from Notre Dame.

1-4 vs. Michigan. 47-1 vs the B1G (with OBD being the B1G One 😁)

tOSU is odds on to host a 1st round playoff game. Win and advance to a 2nd round bowl game and Who Knows? The Buckeyes will not have to play Michigan in a playoff game.

He may be fired if Ohio State was to no-show in the opening PO game or be blown out down the PO road but he most certainly, unlike the PoorDon't coach be fired before December 4th signing day and before tOSU's PO run concludes. It could conclude with a title in Atlanta.
