What?? The Not So Ready For Prime Time Raiders? Maybe they have been Buffaloed?

Well,

I will say this.  He coached his current team better than EVERYONE EXPECTED.  Including myself.

You can't say he's not a good coach anymore.  Like it or not, he exceeded expectations, and Colorado is way better for it.

Neon did more for Colorado football than any coach since the late Bill McCartney.

Not to mention, sometimes college football just needs a villain.

Effectively the same colors so he gets to keep all his Colorado colored "Prime" swag that doesn't say Colorado anywhere on it.

So that's nice from his personal brand perspective.

Whether Prime moves on or not his hire was one of the best moves by an AD ever.

The money paid to Prime and the NIL money paid to players he brought in including a Heisman Trophy winner? One of the best ROIs if not the best ever scored in the history of CFB. A CFB non-entity post-McCartney (RIP) for the most part became must-watch TV.

Folsom Field went from @20,000 fans a game to sold out with a long line of folks on the waiting list.

This will be a loss for CU and for a B12 trying to reamain relevant in CFB.

I wish him the Rader job if he wants it.  Didn't know that much about him until the last couple of years, but I think he is good for football and the kids. No one is perfect.

Well, the Raiders certainly need SOMETHING.  I think it would be an interesting hire since Tom Brady is apparently heavily involved in the process.  Without knowing any of the "particulars," it doesn't seem like Brady and Sanders are cut from the same kind of cloth.  Maybe that's not important...

Couldn’t be more right, probably won’t sustain, but a great ride for a 2 years.

It makes a lot of sense for Sanders to move on to another Coaching job that appears to be a step up.

With his son and Hunter off to the NFL and having had a respectable season, he needs to jump now, to avoid risk of his coaching being questioned.

Anybody on the Buffs we want in the second round of the portal? I thought they snagged a high end OL from signing with us, so maybe he'll come over now.

Prime wants Shedeur to go with him, which would be easier in Las Vegas, but they could trade Prescott, who might not mind going somewhere else. The Cowboys are the epitome of "Playing for clicks".

Too bad that the NFL MVP is a player on a winning team.

I believe that we’ll have to wait and see what the long term impact of Coach Prime is at Colorado.

Yes, he has turned the program around and brought significant interest and revenue in over the past 2 year. However, most of the kids on the roster committed to Coach Prime NOT the University of Colorado. If/when he leaves, will players follow him out the door en masse? If so, Colorado could be in a very bad spot and will need to act quickly (they may want to hire one of his coordinators right away to try to prevent decimation of the roster).

As much as I didn’t like Coach Cristobal as a head coach, he left Oregon in a really good position with the talent he assembled in Eugene, especially the offensive line.

Like Chip Kelly (at UCLA), I don’t think Coach Prime will do the same.

Agree with this.

Colorado was in the running for Big 12 championship this year.

Though, I think Sanders is best suited for the college game given I think he's an excellent recruiter.

If he can acquire more talent than his Big 12 peers, then they should be in good shape for the foreseeable future.

Jumping to the NFL would put his coaching acumen in the spotlight, which may, or may not, be up to the task.

But having some of the best talent relative to your primary competition can cover up coaching weaknesses.

I'll say he is a great recruiter, and that's based on his great NFL career, and one of his best recruits was his son.

We saw his coaching acumen two seasons ago against Lanning, and this season against Nebraska and BYU in the Alamo Bowl. He'll fit perfectly in Dallas.

I think the jury is still out on his coaching ability. He’s taken a 1-win garbage team to 4 wins in 2023 and then 9 wins in 2024. To me, that’s evidence of good coaching.

There will be bumps along the way for a new coach and an improving team, so the losses this year, to me, aren’t final judgments on his coaching ability.

Re: Colorado’s loss to Oregon in 2023, Nick Saban himself could have coached the Buffs in that game and the Ducks would have still walloped them.

Prime & Colorado, if he's still there next season have a schedule, the likes of which I've not seen before. They open with 7 games at home, then it's 5 in a row on the road,

Who designed that schedule? That feels like a really really bad design for everyone.

Colorado did indeed improve under Sanders, My question is this: Will he ever stay anywhere long enough to finish the job and/or allow one to really get a good feel for how good a coach he is (or isn't)? That's a question I really can't answer but I have my doubts on both counts.

One thing I can be relatively sure of is that if he goes to Vegas, he will end up with a better QB than the drones the Raiders have at present. But somehow his game (as a coach) seems far better adapted to the college ranks than to the pros where the grown men on those teams' rosters are unlikely to be wowed in the slightest by Dion's past accomplishments.

Part of me feels like he'll enjoy the NFL more if he can coach his boys. But his problem is the whole "Prime" things sparkles and impresses high school kids. Even those making millions. But his whole flash isn't going to impress NFL veterans. Plus there's more layers of leadership in the NFL. He won't have a dictatorship over the media and program like he does at a place like Colorado that isn't high profile.

Whatever happens it'll be entertainment.

Is Prime Closer to Making a Boulder (😁) Move to the Cowboys?

The Dallas Cowboys hiring Deion Sanders as their next head coach no longer seems inconceivable.

Design by Ralphie?

The Buffs will not open with seven games at home. CU does open with three games in Boulder, but the dates have not been set for the four remaining home games. Seven home games and five away games are par for the course for the B1G and the B12, which play nine conference games. Eight home games are often played in the ACC and the SEC. Notre Dame played TWO true road games in 2024.

It's not unusual for teams to open with three home games. Ohio State opened with three games in Columbus and will do the same in 2025 before being Idle in Week 4 and tripping to Seattle in Week 5.
