Posted 17 hours ago17 hr Administrator Now we get to hear what the B1G announcers were hearing over the past week about Dante Moore's upside. I felt that in the Spring Game...he did not have the protection that he had for this game!Thoughts about the QBs? Mr. FishDuck
17 hours ago17 hr OK at Quarterback? Dante Moore was excellent. Austin Novosad in limited action had a pretty 40 yard throw. Luke Moga can run. Nice to see Thomas play. We are in fine shape!
16 hours ago16 hr Moderator Can't really make a definitive judgement since it's the first game of the season against an FCS team. But there are good signs like the QBs making few mistakes and running the offense decently. Dante made some good defensive reads and Novosad's nice toss to Jay Harris, etc. Let's see how they look by week 4.

16 hours ago16 hr Compare this to our opener against a similar opponent 1 year ago. Overall team looks much better out of the gate.I’d say Dante played as perfectly as possible with the given scenario. No mistakes, nearly perfect decision making, changed protection multiple times…dude has a cannon. Edited 16 hours ago16 hr by JabbaNoBargain
16 hours ago16 hr Moderator OBD is 1-1 in 2025. I enjoyed this game far more than the first game. 🤬Former SC QB coach and now BTN football guy Yogi Roth was effusive with his praise for Moore after watching him practice during BTN's fall football camp tour. Roth noted the arm strength is as good as it gets and that he believes Moore will contend for the top B1G QB spot and possibly a trip to NYC for the Heisman show. That was Men against Boys, but no different from last year's opener when OBD bumbled, stumbled, and fizzled. I think the loss in the opening game of 2025 has OBD super focused from the coaching staff on down.I just hope Pregnon is OK, and I wonder if Hughes is out for the season? Whittingham looked to be faster, quicker, and over his 2023 injury. The RB room is deep. Davidson will be a monster.Go Ducks! Buck the Cowboys. PS - How sweet is Texas and Bama going down on the same Saturday? Dante played better than the touted SEC newbies.

15 hours ago15 hr What impressed me was BALANCE and DEPTH! 253 yards on the ground and 253 yards in the air! We got to see 4 different players at QB, 2 of whom threw and completed (#5 and #16) at least one pass for 253 yards. (and yes, Dante looked like the real deal!)Twelve Ducks got at least one carry for 253 total yards. Seven were running backs (#6, #23, #0, #27, #21, #20 and #22), three were QB (#5, #10, and #12), and two were receivers (#1 and #18). Between them, they had a 6.5 yards per carry averageTen Ducks (#4, #22, #3, #2, #1, #18, #11, #14, #17, and #20) got to catch at least one pass for 253 yards. Between them, the pass catches averaged 10.1 yards per catch! All in all, the Duck offense had 10 possessions and scored 9 TD and 1 FG. Zero punts.Defensively, twenty-eight Ducks got one or more tackles and one or more passes defended! Two had 5 tackles, three Duck Defenders had 4 tackles, and four has 3 tackles! #10 started his season right with 2 sacks, and #32 has a sack as well! The Defense combined for 7 TFL! The same defense that held MT St to 17 first downs and 244 total yards.Pretty good showing for a first outing. They can feel better about themselves than Texas, Alabama, Kansas St., Boise St., or Illinois feel about their opener!
15 hours ago15 hr Moderator Oregon scored on every meaningful possession against a top 5 FCS team. That doesn’t happen too often. I don’t care how good you are or how bad they are. So far, so good.
15 hours ago15 hr Yeah, we're fine at that position, really overall that game was about as good as it could have possibly got, tons of players getting time, executed in all phases of the game.
14 hours ago14 hr We are so fine that we ran out of time to play the 5th QB, who's no slouch - Akili Smith Jr!

14 hours ago14 hr Moderator I like Dante’s quick release…he can get a pass off in a crowded backfield when needed. He was accurate throwing from the pocket, and at least one pass while rolling out.
14 hours ago14 hr I saw everything I needed to see from Moore today. I'm excited for the offense and defense.
13 hours ago13 hr I sure hope we aren’t kicking ourselves for letting that freshman QB from Hawaii who portal’ed to Cal go without a hell of a fight. He looks the part against oac on their first drive. With that said I hope he beats the feeble beavs by 10 touchdowns.

Let the whining, crying and excuses fly.It is so great to be humbled so emphatically!!!It's definitely Gut Check time for DeBoer. He looked a little dazed. Unlike Ryan Day last year during the Michigan game, DeBoer looks concerned. I watched an ESPN analyst put it all on QB Ty Simpson, and I laughed outright. Bama might have lost its soul when Saban retired, Or perhaps he saw they didn't have the fire in them anymore. Whatever it is, nobody fears Alabama anymore.I loved the QBs today. Wished Novo got more time. DL has a dilemma on his hands. Play Novo and burn a redshirt (or Moga for that matter), or race to 45 and get them both some ample experience against teams like Indiana and Iowa (which it looks like both are possible-no joke. I wasn't impressed by either on the LOS). There is still much to work on, but now we know this team is more focused and seems to have a chip on their shoulders.

13 hours ago13 hr Dante has the best arm talent I’ve ever seen at Oregon. Time will tell if he reaches the “best Oregon QB”, but arm talent, yes.

Time will tell if he reaches the “best Oregon QB”, but arm talent, yes.I keep hearing about arm talent, but I didn't see anything super special. His spiral wasn't that tight and he overthrew quite a few open receivers. I'm judging him against the accuracy of Bo Nix' final year and Justin Herbert's last few years, so it's a pretty high bar, but when people start saying best ever, I'll say not yet.The bigger thing to me was he had command of the offense and his progressions.HOWEVER, that 3rd down play near the goal line after the blocked put was not good decision making. He got flushed out of the pocket, and ran out of bounds 5 yards short of the goal line accomplishing nothing. The announcers praised him for it, but he had the time to hold being the LOS and wait for someone to win the scramble drill. So I'm holding final judgement for seeing him operate with some consistent pressure.I do expect Dante to continue to improve like the rest of the team.

He is a redshirt Sophomore and will likely transfer if Dante comes back next year.
3 hours ago3 hr Let's see where we are when we play a team with a pass rush. But it was fun to watch the performance put on.
54 minutes ago54 min Moderator Dante looked the part and played smart. The aforementioned play on 3rd down after the blocked punt may have come up short, but did result in 3 points. DL praised that decision post game. Moore did not try to squeeze the ball into a tight window with its inherent risk of a pick, something he has learned from his UCLA days and with the help of DL screaming in his ear at practice. By and large his passes were accurate and on time, he didn't tend to lock on a primary receiver and he had a couple quick check downs that moved the chains. The two incompletes to Sadiq were more on Kenyon than Dante, and I suspect the former will spend some extra time on the Juggs machine this week.Novosad ran the offense well but really underthrew Kaspar on the go route that resulted in a long gain but not a TD. Against a high quality safety or DB that could have been a pick, even considering the WR's height advantage.Good to see Moga use his wheels and Thomas get in for a few garbage time snaps.
