Iowa under Ferentz was 5-1 in November vs. top 10-ranked opponents. The game was played in a monsoon. Oregon's win means it isn't on the same level as a 3-loss Tennessee team or an Ole Miss team that defeated The Citadel on Saturday?

This teams has grit, a power running game, top five oline and a rock solid defense. And quality depth!

I put the Buckeyes in a different level. Texas was a train wreck when they played the Buckeyes. Other than that tOSU has dominated

In the CFP either bracket wont matter because we will need to play IU or tOSU along the way. A great chance to avenge our only 2 losses in 23 games.

Best of all our coaches are coaching better. Some may not notice but DL and his staff out coached Whisky and the Hawkeyes.

If you rewatch the games you can see the offense running basic plays to see how the opponents D reacts. Then later on out of the same formation the O ran counters or mis-direction plays for chunk plays.

Some may not understand that those early plays that only got a yard or 2, set up other successful plays later. Nothing is done by chance, it's done by design as part of a chess match.

It is no coincedence that when Iowa subbed their starting edge plays with 2 freshman that WS attacked the edges. This happened in the last 2 minutes of the first half. Those 3 points were critical. Those same 2 freshman played 5 plays in the 3rd quarter and the Duck O moved down the field. After those 5 plays those 2 did not play again.

When DM ran for 46 yards, It was one of those basic play formations. Knowing how Iowa would react allowed the TE Johnson to seal the DE. The safety and linebackers quessed wrong. And DM ran untouched.

On the D side of the ball the Duck D keeps getting better. Holding Iowa to 2.7 yards per rush. Well below their average.

Look at how many times the Duck D has given the Duck O the ball at mid-field or better. Sadly the O got nothing from that. If that result changes then the Ducks will pile on the points in the final 3 games.

FYI: In the last 3 quarters the Hawkeyes had 5 offensive possessions. Let that sink in.

If the Ducks play clean and the refs are neutral then this team can accomplish great things.

The only reason Iowa was even close in this game is because of three self inflicted disasters in or near the red zone after three unstoppable drives.

One was an end zone interception, another was a third down trip over feet and another was a third down holding call.

If OBD doesn’t self sabotage themselves and collect a mere three points from those three drives, the score would have looked as dominant as the performance.

I would rather the Ducks be an actually dangerous team lurking under the radar than being fed rat poison at number one like last year.

Not saying OBD is invincible, but I wouldn't automatically dismiss the possibility that OBD might beat the Bucks. Everybody points to the fact that OSU has soundly beaten its opponents, but I am not high on the quality of those opponents. OSU has the softest strength of schedule among all the top five B1G teams, right at 50th nationally. The Ducks, by contrast, are at 20 if I remember what I saw on Sunday.

Ohio State may yet prove to be the best in the land, but they certainly haven't convinced me of that. Time will tell. Go Ducks!!

It’s amazing how timing and recency of your loss skews things, but it makes sense to some degree really.

The collective CFB mind glosses over that Alabama lost to a terrible FSU team…that did actually happen, much as it might strain the brain of the SEC general fervor to recall. The team that is currently undefeated in the SEC with 3 weeks to go, lost to the team currently in 15th in the ACC…by 14.

Isn't the reason we have multi-team playoffs is to allow for the "most" high caliber teams to prove it on the field? Get in and prove your "mettle" when it counts the most. Heck of a lot better than what came before.

This article is just small piece of a larger narrative that the SEC and Notre Dame homers are pushing for their own playoff status. It’s a campaign to influence the playoff committee. The more they beat the drum about Oregon’s “weak” schedule the more everybody starts to believe it.

They’re counting on Oregon losing one more game, so they can get them pushed out of the playoffs and replaced by a 3-loss SEC team. It makes it easier to justify Notre Dame’s spot. It’s also their way of making the B1G look like a weak conference.

True, but we will get some strong clues from he B1G championship game.

Given the relative fair number of top-end losses the SEC has out of conference in 2025, it gets a bit more hypocritical than usual.

If Georgia loses to GaTech we’d have Georgia, Alabama, and Texas all having OOC losses. Given how these teams have dominated in the SEC, one could argue the SEC is a top-heavy conference dominated by unproven teams that didn’t dominate out of conference.

Oh, throw in WSU taking Ole Miss to the wire, the same Cougs that lost to Beavis.

How is this the clear-cut best conference in 2025?
