Posted December 31, 20213 yr Administrator I wonder what the origin of the where/how this nickname came about? Anyone know? Mr. FishDuck
December 31, 20213 yr It doesn't make sense now... In time we will all be convinced... We will all embrace the honored title... CHUCK NORRIS!!!
December 31, 20213 yr I prefer a title to a nickname: Oregon National Champion Coach Dan Lanning. I know it's a lot of syllables, but I like the sound of the thing.
December 31, 20213 yr "Danimal!" That made me laugh out loud. Reminds me of a nickname from a movie, but, for the life of me, I can't recall the specifics. Anyway, Googling the name only got me to this:
December 31, 20213 yr Moderator Willie Mays was the "Say Hey Kid", Lou Gehrig, "The Iron Horse" But Alex Rodiguez? The best that could be come up with is A-Rod? King James is actually kind of clever for Lebron. Wilt the Stilt worked for Chamberlain The baseball Cardinals had Stan the Man, and of course, The Wizard of Oz for hall of fame shortstop, Ozzie Smith, A while back, it wasn't his nickname particularly but latracey came up with The Lanning Strip. Very good one I think.
December 31, 20213 yr I want to say danimals were a type of yogert thing from the 90s. I'm not a 100% sure but it sounds familiar.

December 31, 20213 yr YEP...Danimals is the name of a yogurt-smoothie thing... I think I can pass on this nickname for Lanning.
December 31, 20213 yr Long as it somehow leads to opposing coaches muttering, "DanMitAll!" Repeatedly on the sidelines, I'll be happy to call him RESPECTED...
December 31, 20213 yr Moderator I'm sure Robert Griffin III can make lots of things rhyme with Dan. We should ask him for help. He loves one syllable words.
January 1, 20223 yr I believe 1980's era Chicago Bears DL Dan Hampton was known as Danimal. I say we go with Coach Dantastic

January 1, 20223 yr Hey Charles, as an aside and not meant in a disrespectful way at all....can we stop with the MC articles now that the season is over and he is officially an element of history. I say this because the top article is and the associated picture is of the Miami head coach versus articles and associated pictures regarding the very bright future heading our way under DL. Thanks...again, no disrespect intended...just asking if we can move on.
January 1, 20223 yr Author Administrator This comes down to what the writers want to write, and I don't tell them which topics to cover since...they are volunteer. But I doubt you would see much more since we are all feeling ready to move on. Today's writer had a good message to deliver and it did help me as well in the process. I can promise you that tomorrow's article has nothing to do with him. (Since I am the writer!) No sweat. Mr. FishDuck
