Texas Tech Defensive Coordinator Shares Blunt Assessment of Dante MooreIn his first year as the defensive coordinator for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Shiel Wood shares his observations about the Oregon Ducks prior to the programs' clash in the Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium. Oregon Ducks On SITexas Tech Defensive Coordinator Shares Blunt Assessment...With the days ticking down to the No. 5 Oregon Ducks' quarterfinal game against the No. 4 Texas Tech Red Raiders in Miami, Florida, at the Capital One Orange Bo

  5. One key stat will determine Oregon's chances against Texas TechAutzen ZooOne key stat will determine Oregon's chances against Texa...While it's true for most teams, it's startling how much difference this makes for the Ducks.
  6. He gave the Ducks 3 years. He knows he is not going to play here.
  7. Just speculation, but some good reasons to hope it’s true. As you mentioned, he’s already proven to himself that being patient pays dividends, and another year of strength training and weight room work would really help to get his body ready for the likely pounding he’d take as a 1st round draft pick. Like Bear Alexander points out, there’s no development at the second level.
  8. The only thing Benson does is consistenly make big plays. 😁
  9. Evidently the first time this bowl game was played, Pop Tarts saw a 22 million more units sold than the week before. 'Is it a real functional toaster?': Behind the scramble to engineer the Pop-Tarts Bowl trophy - ESPN Charles, when are you going to sponsor a bowl game and be able to retire? Your minions included!
  10. If they keep bowl games, this is the model.
  11. I guess we’ll more or less find out what was happening this year based upon the level of who is interested in him. I’m not personally invested in someone with 99 yards of passing in 3 years with us, but certainly wish him luck.
  12. That could be the case. However, it could also be that Brock makes better decisions in practice. Sometimes QB’s with the stronger arms and the most athleticism give up more turnovers by trying to force things. My theory is that Austin knows that Dante is coming back for another season. It’s not unheard of. This is a guy who chose to transfer and then sit behind a veteran for a season to become a better QB.
  13. See, I never bought in to him falling to 4th string. I just thought he was transferring and any backup reps needed to go to Brock since he was staying and needed
  14. I also love how the poptart mascots are basically eaten by players or other mascots. Or at least they did last year. It's a really wacky bowl game. Last year Miami and MC in that game was hilarious because he didn't want to lean into the wackiness of the bowl game.
  15. That was bad football. Both teams made stupid mistakes over and over. The final possession by GT was the textbook definition of point shaving. It goes to show that anything other than making the final 12 is just an exhibition.
  16. Same thing Im thinking
  17. Aaaaand a photo finish coming down to the last 10 seconds for BYU to seal the victory with GT in scoring range.
  18. BYU barely beats GT in their bowl game. TTU beating them twice was a feather in their cap. TTU is very similar in style to Iowa in the sense that they have a strong defense and special teams, and are 1st in turnover margin and takeaways that give the offense a short field. TTU is better than Iowa, but we have seen this type of team before playing against the bad weather and the refs and won by avoiding turnovers and 3rd and longs (outside the penalties). I think this similarly could be a low scoring game in the high teens low 20s. The line is starting to shift in Oregon's favor a bit too, up to 2.5 now. I think it will continue to drift higher as the game gets closer.

  20. It appears UK starts 1/12.
  21. I'm guessing the reason for announcing before playoffs completed is so he has time to register at new school for start of winter term. UO starts 1/5. Novosad needs to be offered by someone, accept, get registered, and move. Makes sense to announce now
  22. Remember when the PAC, R.I.P., went 5-0 in bowls and then SUC/UCLA and others decided to play like crap every bowl season? Will SUC be the first blemish in the B1G bowl season?? At least the Lame Os won't lose a bowl game this year...
  23. I will be shocked if he goes to Kentucky or Cal. My guess is Power 5 for FCS. Writing was on the wall when he couldn't beat out Thomas as backup.
  24. I love how they really lean into the Pop Tarts band with no apology. They have colored sprinkles on the white boundary like it's a frosted pop tart. They get some of the best matchups too, and the games are always entertaining. This year it's BYU and Georgia Tech. I just saw a defender punch out a ball with his heel while he was face planting. There have been 3 turnovers in the red zone. It's fun entertainment that I think epitomizes what makes bowl games special. I know they are becoming the NIT tournament of football, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring if the teams are competitive and the pomp is fun.
  25. If he's following Stein, why announce anything? Why not just playout the season maybe get in a playoff game, then follow him out the door? I don't understand these early announcements.
  26. Whit at Utah scared me. Whit at Michigan terrifies me. He really is the perfect coach for the job. Kudos to the Blue.
