Oregon-Texas Tech Post Game Thread
Our Defense got a lot of help by their QB's incompletions. And I can't fathom why we would continue running into the middle of their defense and also risking Dante with runs, most or all of which did not get a first down. He was limping at one point in the 2nd half. Shaking my head.

Simpson wasn’t sliding. He was getting dragged down. That run should’ve been a first down.

Dan Lanning has brought a trophy back home to Eugene in every year he has coached at Oregon. Chip would’ve done the same if the Pac-12 gave out trophies prior to 2011.

Texas Tech's Defense is legit. Texas Tech's offense is a fraud and benefited from a weaker schedule and their defense being elite.

Bama’s inability to run the ball will catch up with them against this defense.

What the Transfer Portal Costs now: Position‑by‑Position Price Ranges Amid a Market Surge
The way this is all run is pure insanity. I’d like to see two things happen. The first is pushing the transfer window’s start to after the CFP is over. The second is to take control of how players are paid by moving the mechanism out of the hands of NIL and giving it to the schools. From there you would create a salary cap and contracts that could span multiple years (reducing the insanity of the portal). If I had to choose one it would be the second as it would calm down the churn and you’d create some interesting roster decisions as well as create a lot of parity (making a 16 team player playoff a lot more competitive).

Somebody needs to break the so-far 0-6 playoff 'Bye' curse. Perhaps it will be Indiana.

It's also the holidays in there as well. Those are some massive distractions because they are distractions for everyone.

Two down ....Two to go!!!!!! Go get it Ducks!!!!!!!

If everyone knew before the game that Dante would throw for 234 yds, get sacked twice, throw a pick, get no TDs and Oregon would rush for well under 100 yds, would folks have predicted that win? Give TT credit for having a defense that was as advertised. One can quibble about overly aggressive 4th down attempts, specific play calls and not taking the dang points!!! All valid observations that will get examined at the doctor visit. But the defensive game plan and execution was otherworldly and that glass is a lot more than half full going into the semis.

TT’s scoring defense came in averaging just under 12 points per game. Ducks doubled that. Their scoring offense came in averaging over 44 points per game. Ducks blanked that. I could not ask for anything better.

What a Playoff "Bye" Actually Means
It would be a good first step to get rid of the league championship games. For one, a team takes another loss possibly pushing them out of the playoff. And of course that weekend could be used as a bye week for the start of a 16 team format (or be used for first round games). The long layoff is ridiculous and isn’t fair to the higher seeded teams. I’d like to see games where each team is at their best.

Congratulations to the Ducks, especially the defenders, on the win against a worthy opponent. That said, I would like to see DL adjust to the game in his decision-making. Specifically, it seemed apparent at some point that Tech was going to have a very hard time scoring unless assisted by Oregon. The pick thrown by Dante nearly let them back into the game. Given that Tech statistically struggled to drive the length of the field through the season and was certainly struggling against the Ducks, it would have been better to punt the football.

Couple thoughts- Tech's quarterback looked like Moore in the Indiana game (due to our defense). That is probably the best Defense we will see all year, they were tough. Hard to throw vertically when there is that much pressure. We were sloppy on offense; fumbled hand offs, bad snaps, illegal procedure, etc. I cannot count the holding penalty's because they saved Moore from getting smacked. Can still improve which is a good sign.

I'd love to see Bama win and give us the Oregon/Bama matchup that some of us have been waiting to happen for 15 years!!

As to the 4th down decisions, I’d want to see the analytics, but each one felt like the right call to me. They just didn’t convert which isn’t necessarily an indication of whether the call was “correct”

If Oregon has to play Indiana, Dante needs to fix his happy feet or the result will be the same as the October game.
