2026 BIG Info, Predictions, Etc.
A B1G question: QB or not QB? Don't doubt Dante. https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/football/2026/02/09/oregon-football-big-ten-qb-rankings-2026/88578795007/?utm_source=smg-duckswire-strada&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign

Which Oregon Player(s) are You Most Disappointed That Have Left the Program to the Portal And Which are You Most Excited to See Come In?
Since we will probably/have to lose all the returners on the DL, it will be interesting to see if any of the departures try and return for Duck glory. And, if so, will they be welcomed back?

CBS Is High On The Ducks!!
I love the top prediction but reading between the lines, there are too many B1G teams that would make the playoff. By my count he has Oregon, Washington, U$C and Indiana all in. What about a Michigan team that beats OSU in the 'shoe'? Does a three loss OSU get left out? Can any three loss BIG team get in? So maybe five B1G teams in the CFP? I can see the snowflakes falling in Hades, hear the outraged whining from SEC land and the hurricane roar from Pawwl F's ears flapping.

CBS Is High On The Ducks!!
I don't know how to feel about that, and the many other predictions about Oregon getting their first 'Natty. The respect and exposure is great, but we have not yet proven to respond to the big moments yet. But eventually we can break through and...

Which Oregon Player(s) are You Most Disappointed That Have Left the Program to the Portal And Which are You Most Excited to See Come In?
All, I will miss Tionne Gray and Blake Purchase. They are both terrific athletes, and I appreciated Blake Purchase's RS year to better prepare himself. I believe we will miss both of these players immensely. We must be smarter with the carrots we use; the players want to play, but the other players motivate players better than just the coaches. I believe we ought to start substituting Elijah Rushing and Aydin Breland whenever it is feasible to give the starters a break. Use them or LOSE them. When we give the defensive starters a break to catch their breath, we produce a better product; and not all at once, please. Too many teams (in the B1G) are head-hunting OBDs - don't want to give teams an easy 7 like we provided Northwestern this year. Don't want to reward but then punish our defensive starters. I could visualize Elijah as another Matayo if he gets the snaps, and the players hold him to the Duck standard; IF. The same with Aydin - use that carrot, but from the players; it's more powerful. Best regards, and of course, Go Ducks!!! KCDuck1

Crazy to think it only took 60 Super Bowls for $c to have a starting QB.

We are all just camels to them. One straw at a time, one fan by the wayside at a time.

Oregon says Significant Increase to Football Season-ticket Prices ‘Critical’ for Ducks to Compete
Fans became the victims. The cost of chasing a trophy that in the scheme of our families lives, means absolutely nothing. Another alternative was to rebuild conference with the rodents, and cougs. That keeps ticket prices lower, but….

Dante Says NIL Wasn't a Factor in Returning
Good for him. Sometimes, with some people, money isn't the only thing that matters. It's easy these days to be cynical about everything in college football, but I believe him, too.

Oregon says Significant Increase to Football Season-ticket Prices ‘Critical’ for Ducks to Compete
I hope so as well, but.... There will be a massive "construction" fee per seat on the north side in the future to upgrade the stadium and add 10-12,000 more seats some day.

Oregon says Significant Increase to Football Season-ticket Prices ‘Critical’ for Ducks to Compete
College football is big business. I remember the Chip Kelly train and when it ran off the tracks with Mark Helfrich. The athletic department is going to push the price of tickets as high as possible, while still selling out. When the train went off the rails and the stadium wasn't selling out, it was amazing how flat the ticket price was for those couple of years. When demand is higher than supply, it doesn't matter what it is, the price is going to go higher. One can hope, when the Ducks do make equal TV revenue money, they will be able to ease off a little on the continual raising of athletic ticket prices.

Per the Cover3 Podcast, Ducks have Five of the Top 23 Players who Opted Out of the Draft
Let’s hope! I actually didn’t realize Arch was NFL eligible, so that’s interesting on a few levels to me.

Dante Says NIL Wasn't a Factor in Returning
I believe him. Not sure how an NIL deal could influence turning down 55Mil guaranteed for a No.2 selection (as projected). Dante Moore Addresses $55 Million NFL Draft Decision And Oregon NIL I do wonder if somewhere there is an insurance policy for a few (?) mil in case of injury.

Oregon says Significant Increase to Football Season-ticket Prices ‘Critical’ for Ducks to Compete
This is from is from the Oregon newsletter and sheds some light on what is going on. Hope I formatted this correctly. "Is there something you've always wondered about UO athletics? Email rmoseley@uoregon.edu and you could possibly see your question answered in a future edition of the newsletter. We'll also use this space to answer questions we've fielded in person or noticed cropping up among fan discussions online. Sarah, Lake Oswego: It feels like everything costs more these days. With the move to the Big Ten and all the changes, how much more expensive is it really for Oregon now? And big picture, are we in a good financial spot compared to where we were a few years ago and where college sports are headed? Rob Moseley, UO athletics: That's a good read - costs are rising across college athletics, and that's true everywhere, not just at Oregon. And while the move to the Big Ten does add some incremental expense, it's a small piece of the overall picture compared to the overall financial landscape facing college sports. With passionate fans consistently selling out Autzen Stadium, Oregon generates approximately $30 million in football ticket revenue each year. Autzen is one of the great environments in college football - but at 54,000 seats, its capacity is significantly smaller than several Big Ten peers, including Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State, all of which seat more than 100,000 fans. For comparison, it was reported that Michigan generated $67.6 million in football ticket revenue in the 2024 season, more than double Oregon's total. It's also important to point out that Oregon Athletics is fully self-sustaining. The department receives no financial support from campus or student fees, pays the full cost of scholarships, and covers institutional expenses, including an annual 5 percent overhead campus assessment. In addition, following the House Settlement, Oregon is now sharing $20.5 million directly with student-athletes, a figure that will increase annually. Big picture, Oregon is in a solid and responsible financial position, but the environment is changing rapidly. As costs continue to rise nationally - particularly around student-athlete support and revenue sharing - maximizing revenue across tickets, media rights, sponsorships, licensing and philanthropy is essential to ensure Oregon continues to compete at the highest level of college athletics."

GameDay Thread for New England vs. Seattle: Thoughts?
I reserve this title for guys who didn't quit half way through a Pac-12/Rose Bowl championship season.

GameDay Thread for New England vs. Seattle: Thoughts?
I was impressed with NFL pass coverage. It was a step ahead of college. There were no windows when the DBs did their thing. Drake Maye not only was not good at moving in and out of the pocket, he misfired too many times to give his team a chance to win. But some of that was Seattle's defense that would not let New England run the ball and thus made them one dimensional. As a Portland resident, I rooted for the Seahawks to support the northwest. But if Portland had an NFL team and Seattle did not, I know that almost nobody from Seattle would have been rooting for Portland. Funny how it works out that way. As I was watching Seattle's D line in total amazement, I don't think the backups the Ducks lost to the portal were of the same caliber. But I did wish that Tionne Gray and Terrance Green stuck around as quality backups and rotational pieces. Finally, that game was yet another reminder that the quarterback is the most important position. Darnold did not have time either, but he made decisions and throws under pressure that Maye was not making.

GameDay Thread for New England vs. Seattle: Thoughts?
Schedules matter! At every level of football, schedules matter. The Pats were bad four seasons in a row and were rewarded with the NFL's easiest schedule this season. Bo doesn't go down, and Denver would have had a shot at winning it all. In the last game of the season, Drake and Dante were both overwhelmed. I think Drake Maye will win a Super Bowl one day. But he needs more seasoning. A better O-line would also help. Meanwhile, Gonzo was great! QUACK! After the robbery 11 years ago, Seattle deserved this win.

Oregon says Significant Increase to Football Season-ticket Prices ‘Critical’ for Ducks to Compete
Oregon competes in 18 sports, and football pays for nearly all of them. With that being said--Oregon won the most Big-10 Championships last year out of the 28 sports the conference participates in. We don't have Field Hockey, Ice Hockey, Mens Soccer or Mens Volleyball, Wrestling, etc. So for as expensive as it is--the Athletic Department pays for itself and does not go to the university for more money, as 92% of all other Athletic Departments do. We are self-sufficient, which is pretty darn rare these days. (8%) Winning the most championships in the conference with one arm tied behind our back...says a ton about Mullens managing it.

The final score was 29-13, and the winning predicted score of 31-13 was only TWO total points off by HappyToBeADuck! He has one of the great handle names on the forum, and he has entered so many of the contests--it was his turn to be the winner, although--for fewer entrants--I'd thought the winning score would be a much greater margin. Nope! Our own HappyToBeADuck nailed it. Thanks again to all who took part in the fun, and congrats again to HappyToBeADuck! You did better than I did...

We the fans need to step up? If it comes to me holding season tickets or feeding my family, OBD is a distant runner up. I’ll watch the games on TV. it is sad to see CFB becoming so Money driven. It is already well past affordable for a family of 4. Makes you wonder how loud Autzen will be with the tea and crumpet crowd? The working man isn’t going to be able to attend more than a game or two a year.
