Yes, I am counting my blessings. It could be too soon though to say that we dodged a bullet, yet again maybe it isn't - you never know. What we do know is the same BYU team that just obliterated the pac-12 south this year, lost to a team who has many people scratching their heads asking "who is UAB"? I understand that it's just an exhibition game, but BYU should have used it to be a statement game, especially after a fairly strong season. Now, Oregon fans, knowing that we play BYU next year, are left with wondering what team is going to show up, when we do eventually play them. We won't have any kind of an idea of what this team Oregon is going to be until we see the spring game, and read the spring practice reports, but we will know that we are going to be presented with a BYU team that is going to put up a fight. Losing this bowl game is only going to serve as motivation for the BYU players for next fall. Seems like besides Georgia, Oregon fans have another fall OOC game to look forward to. And given the trajectory of the BYU program, bowl game aside, it could possibly have playoff implications. All of this is assuming that Oregon pulls together and manages to pull off a very good season next year. It's possible, but is it probable? That is the question.

Does this BYU loss in their bowl game exemplify how the pac-12 is way way behind or is it simply BYU had a bad game?

Mycah Pittman Explains Why He Decided to Transfer.
Krsmqn replied to latracey's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I wasn't able to listen, but had the subtitles on (but the seemed terrible), but I thought I read that he said he left early because he got a sprained ankle, and then chose to quit due to the fact that he wanted to be at full health when he entered the portal. Can anyone confirm? Otherwise, I will have to replay the video later, which isn't a terrible bother. -
Per ESPN, Ken Wilson has been hired as the next coach for the Wolfpack.
-
Yep! We got nothing to lose. (Except players)
-
Is there anything out there that's reporting which assistants are sticking with the program, other than McClendon?

I agree 100%. Mario has an average of three losses a year roughly, which isn't championship material. I understand that every year is different, but as you said, the product that he is putting on the field isn't getting it done. Something has to change, and although I like Mario, I think wholeheartedly that if this is the pinnacle of his product, then we need to start shopping around for an improvement. It's either that, or he needs to come to terms with his limitations and find help to bring to his program to elevate it. He needs to bring the right guy, not just any person who fits the mold.

National Power Programs do not fall flat on their faces when it matters most. Oregon already had national exposure and prominence before Mario ever set foot here. He knew when he accepted the job that the goal was national championships. So far he's given us mediocrity in a mediocre conference. Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, etc would have steamrolled the pac-12 this year and in many years. That's what Oregon should have done. That's what Mario should have done. The job he was hired to do.

Yep looks like Alabama is going to win themselves yet another championship. Yay.

76 - 17 over 2 games to the best defense in the Pac12... Only reason I can think that MC stayed with Brown is to preserve TT's redshirt, for some reason. Did MC think that the same game plan would beat Utah? Smh... A new approach using a different style QB may have yielded better results. Maybe not a win, but a better than 7.7 qbr performance? Perhaps. Mario Cristobal is a hard-headed man, who appears to not enjoy offense. It's pretty obvious that his game plan is only out to emphasize offensive line play which is funny because they suck. You're going to safely assume that his plan has backfired. *This entire statement is my opinion only. Not to be taken too seriously.

Offensive Coordinator Replacement: Your Thoughts?
Krsmqn replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Warren Ruggiero - Wake Forest OC Zach Kittley - Western Kentucky OC Mark Whipple - Pitt OC All 3 have top 5 scoring offenses this year. -
Reports are surfacing saying Moorhead is going to be the next HC at Akron. Looks like the offense will possibly take a step back next year. MC will hopefully make a great hire, someone who can bring more "juice" than JM did. Let's pray he doesn't promote from within (i.e. Mastro), because we need innovation, energy, and firepower on offense. The game with Georgia next fall is gonna be tough to watch. In the meantime, Go Ducks! Beat Utah!!!

Miami Boosters Serious about Acquiring Cristobal
Krsmqn replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I don't think Mario would do too well in Miami. Not the recruiting, but because of the fact that he doesn't seem to know how to keep his team together. Miami is a place where, let's just say, people can get into trouble. Just my opinion. -
Yeah I know, but that's misleading. It's still 420 miles for Utah, vs 860 miles for the Ducks. But like I said Oregon represents pretty well so I feel like there's going to be plenty of fans there. The real questions are the ones that happen on the field, not in the stands. And like Haywarduck says, flying there, it's pretty much the same. So my point is pretty much moot.
-
The bigger picture here is how is Oregon going to handle the team that gave them one of the most embarrassing losses in recent history. And one could hardly argue that Las Vegas is a neutral site for Utah since it's a state over. But either way Oregon travels pretty well on the West Coast so it should be hopefully pretty even as far as fans go. But that doesn't matter when it comes to the fact that we were outplayed in every facet of the game last week and we can't afford to get our asses whipped again.

Utah GameDay Thread: Is Pursuing the Playoffs a Crock?
Krsmqn replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon's luck was bound to run out. All the people claiming that Oregon has the best win of the 2021 season will hopefully shut up now. It doesn't matter what you do in week 2 if you cannot win in week 10, 11, 12, etc... MC needs to do something different if he's ever going to get Oregon to the promise land. He has to make tough choices for the better of the program. Whatever that is. What's the definition of insanity? ... MC clearly doesn't know. Good win, Utah. Tough loss, Ducks. Move on. There is one more team to face next week... And if we win, then it will still be a good season for a true Duck fan. Go Ducks! -
Utah GameDay Thread: Is Pursuing the Playoffs a Crock?

Part of me thinks the Oregon coaches want to lose this game so that they get matched up in a bowl game that they actually have a chance of winning so that they get that nifty Bowl bonus... -

If the defense is just going to stand around and let the Utah players get wide open then they might as well just go home! -

I had a bad feeling about this game. I didn't want to say anything, but it's time I speak up because sometimes when I say something, then for some reason I get proven wrong. So, let's hope this is one of those times. -
Nebraska got robbed... clear PI and the refs just ignored it. Frost is right to be pissed off.

Looks like Bama is putting this one to bed. But it's not as an impressive win as tOSU.
-
Jebus ... tOSU just wiped the floor with MSU! It will be interesting to see how Bama does, because like 30Duck said, tOSU's performance should have them nipping at the heels of Georgia. Oregon and Alabama are just trying to hold on to a playoff spot right now. The other two are clearly the favorites. If Oregon doesn't show up bigtime vs Utah, then we might even end up out of the top 4 by the time all is said and done. I would just love to see Oregon firing on all cylinders, like Ohio State is. Go Ducks!
